openDeath Battle YMMV
So I had an edit I wanted to request on a locked page, so would I ask about it?
openHow to change the avatar?
I uploaded an avatar but for some reason it didn't change, and I can't figure out how to do it manually either. Can someone help me?
openSomewhat concerning user
I wanted to bring up the user Hello Coco. Not only has their recent edits been very poor in grammar and formatting, but they also feel a bit...disturbing, talking about younger female characters in uncomfortable ways.

Edited by ZootyCutie94openEdit War on YMMV/MushokuTensei
On YMMV.Mushoku Tensei, Tropers.Qubritz added the following (bolded for emphasis) to a Broken Base entry:
- One of the most controversial aspects of the story is its very premise as a "Redemption Arc". The main problem with it stems from the possibility of "redemption" being used to justify horrible or terrible actions based on the idea that the perpetrator will "grow up" or "learn from it". This is further compounded by the fact that the behavior being condemned for is also "rewarded" in a sense, such as when Rudeus winds up marrying three of the women he once sexually-harassed, he and Eris wind up together despite her horrible abuse of him, and Paul winds up marrying the woman he had an affair with.
In retrospect, the entry should probably be reworded to further explain what the audience is split on regarding these points (basically, whether or not Rudeus deserves "redemption"note He is implied to have been a pedophile that masturbated to nude photos of his own niece before being reincarnated., whether the ending "rewards" people for crappy behavior, and whether or not it sends the wrong message about "redemption" in general). But, on top of that, the bolded section is a gross oversimplification of the actual issues with those characters. As I edited here, the two are mutually toxic to each other.
Eris is introduced as a Spoiled Brat who is verbally and physically abusive to Rudeus when he is brought in to be her magic tutor. This is very much Played for Drama and not treated as amusing.
After he arranges a fake-turned-real kidnapping, she grows to like and respect him and from then on, the few times she does hit him, it is portrayed as the usual anime Tsundere/Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male/Pervert Revenge Mode anime hijinks and absolutely Played for Laughs, as it's clear that the two of them are really into each other and everybody pretty much expects Rudeus to bed Eris at some point Her father even explicitly gives him permission in a moment of Deliberate Values Dissonance. (They're both like physically 12 at this point, btw, although Rudeus was a middle-aged man in his past life. And absolutely still sees himself as an adult.) At the same time, Rudeus makes an attempt to take off and steal Eris's panties while she's asleep, and after her father does arrange for her and Rudeus to go to bed together, Rudeus ignores an uncomfortable Eris after she changes her mind and tells him to stop until she is forced to hit him. (And I repeat, Eris is about 12 at this time, while Rudeus is a 30-something implied pedophile in the body of a child.)
The "Eris is the unambiguous abuser toward Rudeus" aspect of their relationship literally doesn't last longer than the first full episode she's introduced (in the anime). The majority of their screentime features the two of them being basically flawed, awkward people, and one of them being too young to be attempting the relationship they have. Even if we accept that Eris is an abusive brat, and is still pretty violent after she catches feelings for him, he is still mentally an adult, while she is a child.
NOTE: I'd also like to state that, after my first edit, Qubritz agreed that "mutually-abusive" was a better way to describe their relationship. Then, shortly afterwards, he suddenly sent me a PM out of the blue asking to chat, which quickly turned sour after we had a disagreement about the portrayal of a fictional character, and he turned pretty hostile.
Then, after I blocked him, he re-added the bolded section. Again, after previously agreeing that "mutually toxic" was the best way to define their relationship.
Edited by NubianSatyressopen Unapproved image change
Wiki.SCP Foundation had it's image changed from:

Edited by Ferot_Dreadnaughtopen Troper is weird about troping leaks Film
The Extractor added things relating to apparent leaks about Spider-Man: No Way Home to a few pages. I removed them, since my understanding is we don't trope leaks. They contacted me, somewhat rudely, citing some rule that "the forums" arrived at where leaks could be troped if confirmed by two specific sources, and presumptuously expected me to add the examples back to avoid an edit war.
I asked for a link to the discussion, and after replying twice to me, they still haven't bothered to link it. They did send me a snarky message with "you'll add the example back tomorrow ;)" (referring to a trailer release), however, after I linked a forum post replying to them, that they replied to that says not to use leaks, as well as the Content Leak page saying not to do it.
It was a weird way of conducting the entire thing, and I figured I should mention it.
Edited by FuzzyBarbarianopenSpoilers in character pages
Do we have a policy about spoiler tags in character pages? I know that we don't use them in Headscratchers, but how about the character pages—is there a policy about all of them?
openRomantic-Two Girl Friendship
Why did you censor the following examples of the trope with % (such as Jennifer's Body, Shake It Up and 2 Broke Girls)? These are straight examples worth mentioning and they should be visible to the reader
openLinking to TheOneWith Videogame
Is it kosher to link The One With… on main page articles? Just want to know before I go editing some Sonic pages...
openFan-Preferred Couple Question
I'm kind of curious, say there's a fictional show and Alice/Bob are the official couple yet fans prefer Alice being with Charlie. Eventually, Alice and Bob break up and Alice and Charlie have a Relationship Upgrade around Season 2. Would the Alice/Charlie example count as an example of Fan-Preferred Couple since it became popular before the pair hooked up? Thanks.
openKeep Circulating Theme Park Rides
Does anyone else question our need for a Theme Parks section of KeepCirculatingTheTapes.Other Media? Theme park owners very rarely release official recordings of their attractions, and it doesn't look like anyone on this Wiki wants to list the countless attractions that don't have any readily available videos. (Not even the person who started the section listed any such attractions; Cranium Command has some home movies on YouTube, which sounds like a step up from attractions predating the '80s.)
openquestion about title that has not been translated
This is related to my CD Drama question from earlier - the drama in question does not have an official English Translation, but it does have a fanmade one that's available on Youtube. The problem is, since it doesn't have an official english translation, fans have taken it up to themselves to translate the title. The original Japanese reads as ''Eirei Denshou Ibun ~Gankutsuou Edmond Dantes~".
To this I was able to find two different translations of the title. The one used on the Type Moon Fandom Wiki is Strange Tales of Heroic Spirit Lore ~King of the Cavern, Edmond Dantes~. Before anyone asks, I checked and it is under the 64 character limit for a work title.
The other translated title I found was on the playlist on Youtube, which goes as following: Heroic Spirit's Lore Strange Tales: Edmond Dantes, the King of Cavern
I'm not sure what to use here. I think all three of them are very long, even if they are technically under the character limit. Writing the japanese title with English characters just feels weird, but the two possible translations are not from official sources, and I'm not entirely sure on TV Tropes' attitude to that.
openEdit war
On this YMMV page, Mariofan 99 added an entry for Squick, darksteel removed it, and Mariofan99 readded it. What makes the issue a little more complex is that darksteel removed Squick on the grounds of "it not being YMMV", even though it is. When Mariofan99 added it back, their edit reason pointed out that Squick is YMMV. I'm not sure who's at fault here, because while the entry was removed for a false reason, it was still added back by the same troper who first added it, so it's still technically an edit war.
resolved self-promotion in tlp comments
so there's a tlp draft being proposed. (full disclosure: I have my own issues with the proposal that are unrelated to my question and have made that explicit in the comments for the draft.) My question is: does the site allow self-promotion outside of explicit forum threads? the sponsor wrote in the comments that they have a youtube channel that discusses the trope they are proposing and then linked it in the comment. is that allowed? disallowed? allowed but frowned upon? Felt weird about it tbh, so i'm asking here.
Edited by amathieu13openPossible edit war
There may be an edit war in the YMMV page of Dawn of the Dead (1978).
Troper ultrafan removed this entry from Hilarious in Hindsight:
A man named Peter, faced with his imminent death, says "I don't want to go."
Troper Crow T R0bot added it back in two days later.
Neither troper put in an edit reason, and unfortunately I wasn't able to find the first instance where this phrase was added.
Link.
Thanks!
Edited by BoltDMCopenDrama CD based on another work
I want to make a page for an official Drama CD that serves as side material to Fate/Grand Order (and is simultaneously an interquel to The Count of Monte Cristo).
I have several questions though. First of all, I don't know if it deserves its own page or it should be in the FGO page - the anime spinoffs have their own pages. Also, I have no idea what namespace Drama C Ds go to.

The reason I ask in that I was thinking of writing an entry but am a bit confused by the definition.
Edited by Bullmanopento request a page
Basically, I want a trope page for this game I like to exist, but I am not a professional and don't know too many tropes. How do I request a page for the game to be created by those who know what to do?
Is there a place where I can suggest a trope get a waiting period? Like a thread? Because there is a trope I would like to suggest get one and I don't know where to suggest it.
