I already said this in Wiki Talk, but I figured it was better to say this here as well:

  • First, rename to something like "Directory - Threads you might be looking for"?
  • Unpin the other threads here?

Looking at the list, I feel like there should be a thread for Inbound Watch.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

The only thread about it is a Wiki Talk one from over a year ago, which is just a brief question. The page itself also hasn't been edited in over a year (edit: other than the namespace move).

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

That thread will have to be created in SE to work.

Also, guys, please don't clutter up this thread with discussions. Anyway, I've asked some questions; anyone for/against?

For both. I reckon you can go ahead and holler for the first; the second may merit a couple more agreements.

I would also be fine with both.

A few more threads I've tracked down (not sorted, yet, and there migth be duplicates):

I added Properly Sorting, Consistent example style, and Removing Fan Myopia to the list. Removing Gushing was already there. Why I didn't add the others:

  • Transforming Audience Reactions...: Seems like TRS territory. I don't think people should be arbitrarily changing tropes from YMMV to In-Universe only.
  • Works Needing Tropes: As mentioned in that thread, the purpose was to try to get tropes for works which didn't have examples anywhere on the wiki; that purpose is better served by posting in the appropriate media subforum.
  • A Missed Focus: Seems to be a Wiki Talk thread which ended up here for some reason. Any actual PSOC problems with existing tropes would need to be hashed out through TRS, and if people have questions about whether or not TRS is needed, Trope Talk is the place to go.
  • Cleaning up X Meets Y: Seems to be more a discussion of what should be done with X Meets Y (which is TRS business) than any sort of actual cleanup effort.
  • Overused caption: The conclusion of that thread was that it's not an issue. Also, it was about a specific caption.

"Transforming Audience Reactions" is one of these threads made for coordinating TRS work.

Also, found this thread on Redirect Farming. Ignoring that it's in the wrong place, would it fit in the directory?

On "Transforming", I guess I just don't see how the thread would be helpful. I mean, if you bring it up there and get support for change, then you're just going to have to go over everything again in the TRS thread. And if you're not sure about your perception of the trope, that really belongs in Trope Talk, not Special Efforts.

And as to the latter thread you mentioned, so far everything on the list is from Special Efforts. Do you think it should be expanded? I could see the redirect, indexes, and YMMV threads fitting.

I think that these threads can fit too. Plus, in the Wiki Talk thread on stickies (the one linked in my signature) we are discussing to bring several of these threads over to SE as they fit here better.

Under Specific Namespaces, "Pages that need (or don't need) banners" is now "Pages that need the YMMV banner".

Fixing Actors/Actresses pages can be added to the "Everything else" section.

Now that Special Efforts is being split, where does this thread go? I thought of Short Term, since one of the purposes of this thread is to prevent endless duplication of threads.

[up] It would be more efficient to just start a new thread in Short Term, as this one deals pretty much exclusively with what would be in Perpetual/Long Term.

Hmm...do we need this thread essentially in both subfora? Because keeping two things up-to-date could be an issue.

Also, the point of the directory among others is to prevent short term threads that are withhin purview of the long term ones. It might be better off in Short Term. Never mind that it would be redundant to [1]

Going off of what Septimus said here, do you think I should provide a second post with a strictly alphabetical listing of threads?

Maaybe. My idea was more on the forum page, though - in a "bring your problem pages/examples to thread X" forum there is a point to list threads alphabetically rather than by activity.

Do we have a thread for dealing with the issue of listing tropes on both a superindex and its subindex(es)? (e.g. Nanomachines on both Speculative Fiction Tropes and Applied Phlebotinum)

No, because we don't know already whether it's an "issue" that needs resolving.
