Character pages are a large chunk of the wiki, but they're often filled with problems that don't get resolved. These problems include:
- Zero Context Examples
- Indentation problems, including bulleting tropes under supertropes or tropeslashing
- Spoiler tag misuse
- A lack of alphabetization
- Empty character folders
- Plagiarized character descriptions
- Misused tropes, or tropes that don't belong on character pages
- Broken or incorrect formatting
- Subjective / Trivia trope mentions
Per How to Create a Character Page, character pages should only include tropes that describe the characters. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, Unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask about that at Are These Character Tropes

All characters must have at least one contextualized trope for their section or folder to be visible. If you find a character that has no contextualized tropes present, comment out the entire section and add this tag:

- Problems with pre-existing images on Characters page need to go via Image Pickin'. Low quality images can usually be upgraded without discussion, but don't change or delete images without Image Pickin' approval.
- Character-Specific Pages have their own separate cleanup thread
- Self-demonstrating character pages also have their own thread.
- Inanimate objects and locations on character pages have their own cleanup thread
- Character pages for Reality Show contestants are on-topic here, but there's also a dedicated Reality Show cleanup thread which deals with the No Real Life Examples, Please! grey areas these shows create, and may sometimes be a better place to discuss them.

I found one for a fanfic titled The Tick vs... MY HERO ACADEMIA!. By that I mean the person who made the character page did nothing except leave a message that said "have fun guys!". That was all the way back in January of this year and nothing has been added. If no one's going to add any tropes, should the page just be cut entirely?

Now, there is one bunch of character pages I've been procrastinating on just because of how...ugh...they are.
Characters.Brutal Series. Every page is a disaster, and we need to fix it. I can't do it without help, so I've not started yet.

Most of the time, but I think all major character pages have flaws that people just haven't gotten around to fixing, yet.

They aren't fanfic examples only. For example, Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders was created years ago and don't have many examples to speak of on the folders. I've been trying to add examples while at it, but you will have to forgive me for not knowing how to tropefy the blank examples, with the game being hard to find check.
This also includes under the radar comics and anime.

Not to impede on you all, but I see this quite a bit on Characters.Jo Jos Bizarre Adventure pages:
- Anyone Can Die: Dies in chapter 69.
Zero-Context Example aside, it's a Self-Fulfilling Spoiler; in addition, Anyone Can Die, as I understand, applies to works, not individual characters.

I know it enough to decently flesh some stuff out, I guess? But a lot aren't workable.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.

Characters.Rebuild Of Evangelion and Characters.Sakura Wars might need to be looked at.
Also, I think story tropes (such as Oh, Crap!, Karmic Death, etc.) that are on all the character pages should go on the main or recap pages where necessary.

There was a whole debate a while back about what tropes do and do not belong on character pages. Suffice to say there's no consensus yet.

Until we have consensus, if it can be put on a character page, it should be fine. Generally, some stuff fits better on the main page if it refers to tons of species only. If they can't really be given a proper entry in the character page, it fits best there.
I did update the Quest 64 page with some context, and removed some ZCE's. I did not remove any spoiler-marking just yet. I'm thinking to give a warning of "large spoilers ahead", but keep the folders so nobody automatically sees the spoilers when loading the page, but actually can see the fact they exist and turn back if they want to. I'd have to fully go over the exact set of spoilers if they were kept, but I feel it being spoilers off is better?

For even more pages to fix, the Needs Wiki Magic Love page already has a backlog of Character pages that are in desperate need of help, with some other Characters pages spilling out to the slightly-less-in-trouble Pages Needing Example Context.
Shout out to the Characters.Code Geass pages I added to the latter a while ago, I was pretty baffled to see a fairly popular series have so many ZCEs. Since the time I've added it, people have swung by and added context to Characters.Code Geass Black Knights, for example, and it's looking healthier now.
Are we using commented-out headers, so we know which ones have been checked?

Characters.Brawlhalla is even worse than the main page was before I scrubbed it. The character descriptions are really long and also maybe plagiarism (they're taken directly from the website and in-game lore blurbs), tons of ZCEs, and most of the characters don't even have images despite having image captions!
Side note, YMMV.Brawlhalla is also bad, but not to the extent of the main and character pages (probably because it's a lot smaller).

I've worked on existing character pages before and created other character pages from scratch, so I guess you can sign me up to.
I'll take a look at the Needs Wiki Magic/Needs Examples section and see if there's any I'm already familiar with.
