Fanfic / CORELINE: The Gravity Falls Run

Go To

"The Core Timeline is an amalgamation of chaos. The so-called real world has been overlapped with the realms of movies, comic books, anime, and more. Fanfictions have literally come to life. And in the town of Gravity Falls, Oregon, trouble is brewing.

The situation may need a team. It may need an army. Only one man arrives.

But on the Core Timeline, sometimes one man is enough...."

"The Gravity Falls Run", by marcoasalazarm, is a story that occurs within the Coreline Shared Universe. It follows the character Roger Hackett, call sign "Watcher Two", of the Stingray Security Services, as he goes deal with a personal problem on the town of Gravity Falls, Oregon.

As is normal of the world he lives in, this "personal problem" becomes something bigger (and much more destructive) than it first appeared to be.

Here is the link to the Prelude to The Gravity Falls Run, Picture Of A Morning In Stronghold.

This Coreline story contains examples of the following:

  • Call-Back: The events of the climax of "Rise" (which have not been published by Orion yet) are again mentioned here.
  • The Cameo: Turns out that the Coreline version of Gravity Falls' woods have The freaking Beast running around them. Its appearance is just meant to show that the threats of the show are not the only things that call Gravity Falls their (new) home... and are not even close to be the only threat around.
  • Elsewhere Fic: This fan fiction occurs on the peripheral of the storyline shown on (and on the Time Skip between) Rise of the Extraordinary Avengers (Coreline) and Holiday Time Heroes Coreline.
  • Fictional Holiday: Turns out, after the events of the "Weirdmageddon" Trilogy (the Series Finale arc for Gravity Falls), many versions of The Falls decided to celebrate "The Battle Of Gravity Falls" (and Dipper and Mabel's birthday) as a Fourth of July-esque local holiday (yeah, both of them together at the same time. Why waste the chance for a super-party instead of two smaller ones?). This celebration carried over to The Line's version of Gravity Falls, and the events of this story happens during it.
  • Hell on Earth: Because of understandable reasons, both Pines twins, but especially Dipper think they have been stuck in such a place.
  • In the Style of: Action thrillers like Taken, Dredd and Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
  • Knowledge Broker: Ahsoka as Fulcrum, though she has fewer contacts than some of her alts.
  • One-Man Army: Meet Roger Hackett. Stingray Industries Hellsoldier Unit-001.
  • Origins Episode: Although explored on some other stories (such as those by Gideon020), Roger's backstory will be told in full here.
  • One Riot, One Ranger: Justified Trope in that Roger believes that the situation at hand is probably not worth mobilizing Stingray Security Services forces (in a best-case scenario it's just a personal issue, and after the events of Rise the situation is still dire enough that moving SSS forces with no due justification (let alone a personal issue) is seen by Roger as a pretty severe waste).
  • Slice of Life: What Picture Of A Morning In Stronghold is, in a nutshell. Prevents itself from being a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment because The Gravity Falls Run occurs immediately afterward.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The version of Bipper that is the Big Bad of the story dressed in a manner similar to (and spouts the catchphrase of) The Tall Man. McGucket uses a mass-produced, militarized version of Reggie's shotgun as a main weapon, as well.
    • One of the chapters is titled "Friday Night Firefight". That's the title of the combat rules section of the Cyberpunk2020 Role-Playing Game.
    • The sequence where Roger demolishes a good chunk of Gravity Falls forest with gunfire in an attempt to get The Beast is supposed to resemble the sequence where Dutch and his team shoot up the jungle in Predator''.
  • Time Skip: The story occurs one month after Rise of the Extraordinary Avengers (Coreline) (being specific, Rise occurs on the Fourth of July, while Run occurs on August Thirty-First).
  • Wall of Weapons: The "War Bag", a duffel bag full of weapons and ammunition (dimensionally compressed) that Roger decided to bring along.
