I think the same goes to Deface of the Moon. Although that one needs a description rewrite: Example As Thesis dominates the definition.
Thank you all for giving me time: I've finally finished the crowner that we spoke about: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/crowner.php/PageAction/WeirdMoon?open=all#5fbujse6
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I am not convinced that "what is a subtrope?" is a crowner question.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanRe-clocking.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhat do you want, then, ~Septimus? A crowner on if Weird Moon should be made a supertrope? I thought we were in general agreement on that, but the three active posters in this thread didn't have a consensus on which tropes belonged as subtropes to "the moon behaves oddly" concept.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I hope we can come to an agreement soon. Plenty of TRS threads ran out of time and the proposed changes ended up going nowhere.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300OK, I went ahead and attached the crowner.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanTo be clear, Artsy Moon isn't on the crowner because it's already defined as a subtrope?
Check out my fanfiction!I think because that one's already in TRS maybe?
Yeah, that was why. Artsy Moon doesn't have a clear meaning right now, which is why it was sent to TRS to begin with. Why declare the term to be a subtrope when it doesn't have a clear meaning?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. That trope's TRS actually clocked out.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'd just like to point out that Moon Rabbit is pretty much the Asian version of The Man in the Moon...
Note that despite its name, Bad Moon Rising is not about moons per se, but about any portentuous celestial body (the most common example being a red comet).
Note also that Blue Moon is in TRS now.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!<Bump> for votes: some of the tropes have been voted very clearly to be subtropes or sister tropes, but several are left undecided.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I find those tropes rather different, since the Moon Rabbit trope is a lot about actual rabbits from the moon, rather than the moon itself having the shape of a rabbit.
Check out my fanfiction!Options that have reached 10 votes with a 2:1 ratio or better (clear subtropes)
- Cheesy Moon
- The Man in the Moon
- The Moon Is Always Full (Mod Fiat vote)
Options that have reached 6 votes with a 1:2 ratio or worse (clearly not subtropes)
- Detonation Moon
- Full Moon Silhouette
- Melancholy Moon
- Stellar Name
- Wolves Always Howl at the Moon
- Moon-Landing Hoax
Options that need more opinions (might be subtropes, with a few more votes)
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Clarifying question request: Examples of Lunacy where the moon clearly has supernatural influence over events on the planet, would those still count as Wierd Moon? Would the tropes overlap there?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.<Bump> for votes: some of the tropes have been voted very clearly to be subtropes or sister tropes, but several are left undecided.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Three pages, and I'm having a hard time seeing exactly what the misuse was the begin with. But what do I know?
Calling crowner in favour of The Man in the Moon, Cheesy Moon, The Moon Is Always Full, Gigantic Moon, Moon Rabbit, Vulcan Has No Moon and Bad Moon Rising being subtropes of Weird Moon.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAdded the subtropes onto the Weird Moon page and commented out the definitions that are subtropes. I'll get to the YKTT Ws of The Moon Is Always Full and Giganitic Moon later.
Where are we now?
- Examples and Wicks for subtropes of Weird Moon must be moved to the appropriate Sub-Trope pages.
- Comments and help on Full Moon YKTTW
- Comments and help on Phases of the moon are off
- Comments and help on Gigantic Moon YKTTW (And someone to sponsor it)
Gigantic Moon still needs a sponsor, while the rest are in YKTTW form.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?
Crown Description:
Which of the following tropes (or potential tropes) counts as a subtrope to Weird Moon? Vote [up] if you think it is a valid subtrope, and vote [down] if you think it is not. Potential tropes that end with a 2:1 ratio will be made in YKTTW, and current tropes that end with a 2:1 ratio will be mentioned as subtropes on the Weird Moon page.
Side note: That's No Moon has absolutely nothing to do with moons, and if you think it does, you've probably been misusing it. It really doesn't belong on any moon-related (or even space related) indexes.
(ETA: and now its not.)
