TLP Crash Rescue - Fixing prematurely launched TLPs and pages

I disagree about having one trope for all stock pranks. That would encourage or just be "these pranks exist" rather than "this prank exists." Also, each prank could mean something different about the prankster, or be used in different enough contexts. Now that I think about it, I'd rather support character tropes that use these pranks rather than tropes for the pranks themselves.

It's very much a pre-existing term.

Rust-Removing Oil is very much a thing in toooooo many video games I've played (that and Rust Removing Acid), but you have to get the oil and pour it on the lock/hinges/blade/etc. to advance the story and proceed with the game.

So there might be something there, but it seems more a mechanic then the story-telling device of a trope.

So Jackpot Knockout was recently handled by TRS, which led me to go down a rabbit hole to a familiar place on this site: the TLP Reform Statistics page. I realized that there are still some terrible pages on the site that were at one time reported to this thread, so I think it's appropriate to mention them here.

The following are hold-overs from TLP Reform Statistics and TLP Crash Rescue Tallies. None of these have yet been resolved and I don't think any of them warrant a TRS thread.

Please look at TLP Crash Rescue Tallies for other old tropes (and works pages) that we haven't done anything about yet. I do need to update that page, but... this being my final semester in college (omg plez), I haven't really been keeping an eye on these things.

That said, these are all still on the wiki and even though they are (cough) shit in a brown paper bag, they were set aflame on our stoop.

• I think the following should be cut, wdyt:
  • Bible Punk (last salient edit July 2016)
  • Boom Up And Over (older than edit history)
  • The Final Frontier (no examples)
  • Ideological Screed (no examples)
  • Mouth Full of Smokes (meme, crosswicking issue)
  • Podiobooks (formatting, mostly redlinks)

EDIT: I'm adding the above list (except the meme page because that doesn't have the same kind of issue) to the Cut List and citing this comment. Most of these are so obviously badly done.

MiniDrivers has one trope that's pretty much a ZCE with a weird mini image that think is supposed to illustrate it, sent stub notifier

Requesting Ridiculously Long Uh to be unlaunched because of this ATT thread. The launch was pre-mature.

Another launch that troper made was to Extremely Short Intro Sequence, but I wasn't part of that discussion so I'm not sure if that needs to be unlaunched or if we could discuss it more. Either way, it's worth mentioning.

We were in the beginning stages of discussing which of the two images to use for Ridiculously Long Uh, and the launch interrupted that discussion.

I also don't think Uhhhhhhh is a trope, so

I think what would be a trope is essentially "brain farty filler noise" where a character is so stupid, distracted, confused, or surprised that they just keep making the same noise. Making it "uh for any reason" isn't a trope.

That was pretty much the direction the trope was headed before it was pre-maturely launched by a ban-evader. The discussion at the time of launch concerned the images, and the Spongebob one better illustrated the "character so stupid they do this" concept.

Done for Bible Punk, Podiobook (and Podiobooks), Ideological Screed, and Boom Up And Over. I'll tackle The Final Frontier later.

Going through those wicks, I found Pedestal and Current Events Blog. Both of which are terrible, lacking much worth defending.

Cutlisted YGOAV subpage. The examples can go under the respective tropes being subverted.

I searched Podiobooks, and the results came up with their website being merged with Scribl.

And I don't know if we should cut out Camera Tricks and their stubs, which were made in 2011. Perhaps we should merge them into Camera Tricks and turn it into a Useful Note.

Also, thank you Water Blap, for covering the mislaunched tropes for me.

Well, that explains why someone edited out the Podiobook link in one of my articles. :) Since no reason was provided, I assumed it was due to grammar.

The cursor kept getting removed from the edit reason box after clicking on it. We're talking in the time it took my hand to move from my mouse to the keyboard, and in some cases it happened in the time it took me to click with my right hand and press Ctrl+V with my left.

I've reported when ads load and that happens, but I was using an ad-blocker and it kept happening on every page. So I just stopped writing edit reasons.

Depends on the computer I'm using. Not really sure which program is the ad-blocker on this computer.

No worries. I work in computers. This kind of thing happens.

Companies can pay for their ads to bypass Adblock.

Also, I hope you turned it off.

While I know of the need to provide ad revenue with sites I like to read, I find it troublesome that most plugins intended to block hostile scripting attacks/tracking also basically serve as AdBlock...

I'm currently working on dewicking The Final Frontier. Moreover, I added the following information to the TLP Crash Rescue Tallies page, and there three (six?) tropes that could be resolved.
