Funny Pets is a Japanese CG-animated cartoon created by the mind of Ryuji Masuda, the creator of
Popee the Performer and
Mr. Stain on Junk Alley. And that information alone should tell you what
you're in for. This show details the misadventures of a sun-and-moon-headed alien duo named Corona and Crescent and their owner, a ditzy red-head showgirl named Funny who decided to take them in as pets. Just like Masuda's other works, this show features heavy violence and injury, usually one or more characters dying each episode. The gore and blood are toned down compared to other shows, not that it really helps.

- Black Comedy Rape: Yes. This actually happens. When Funny is distracted by her crush on a pretty boy actor, Crescent decides to dress up as him, and by "dress up" we mean the most half-assed disguise you can imagine of him taping the actor's picture to his face and using stilts to get Funny to feed him. Right away this backfires leading to Funny taking him straight to bed for you-know-what and even putting a chain and collar on poor Crescent!
- And in another episode, this happens between Funny's own good and evil halves! Long story short, a potion causes them to manifest. The good half stubbornly presents roses to the evil half who's constantly trying to beat her down. Eventually, the good half just throws herself onto evil and forcefully kisses her, causing her to cry. This is all accompanied by creepy music.
- Butt-Monkey: Anyone is at risk of injury but poor Crescent is usually the most unfortunate.
- Mind Screw: Episodes reach varying degrees of weirdness but they can get pretty bizarre.
- Pocket Dimension: Corona has stars on the inside of his mouth. One episode reveals there are more than just stars. Somehow his mouth contains the very solar system they all live in. In the same episode, a black hole opens up there leading to it forming just across from the planet. Crescent winds up being sucked in and lands outside the house approximately 30 feet taller.
- Toilet Humour: One episode involves Corona producing clouds from his behind, while Crescent poops gold. Another episode has Crescent farting while preparing to shoot.
