If I had the cash, I would've gotten the Eternal set but that's it.

Actually, I could maybe be convinced to go for a ZECT belt and some Gatack stuff, but that'd be it.

........anyway, come Monday, I'll prolly make a trip to the Windy City.

Pack an umbrella. There's some stormy weather there.

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?

....is that some kind of pun/reference to Double, or are you talking about the actual Detroit?

[up]It's a pun reference. Trust me, you'll get it.

But yeah, I have a Sengoku Driver and an OOO Driver in a crate under my bed right now.

And the Budou Ryuhou.

"Yup. That tasted purple."

Sooooo nobody is answering my question of whether or not the Mache Teddy can fire bullets?

Has the Ghost Rider made your subconsciouses too spooked to do that?

Bloody hell, do I need to be specific? It's not like I'm asking about some hard-to-find Showa Era trivia.

Kamen Rider New Den-O has an Imagin partner, his name is Teddy. Instead of him going into New Den-O, Teddy becomes a sword called the Mache Teddy.

One of the features of its design is a tube thing behind the edge of the blade. I seem to remember that it's a projectile weapon, like a rifle. But is it really that, or was I wrong?

Don't know. Only seen new Den-O a few times and can't remember if he fired that thing.

Sorry I can't answer.

It's okay; I just found out by watching him in action in the Super Climax Heroes fighting game. He can shoot with the sword.

... Is this one of those inherent human traits, where they know there's this thing that can help them answer their questions, but for some inexplicable reason they can't help but to ask their fellow men first?

That, or my lack of sleep made me too lazy to go search myself. Still, thanks anyway.

As compensation, here's the latest chapter of the Kantai Collection x Kamen Rider X + Aqua fanfic I co-written with Epsilon Zeta.

So the Genesis seems to be a genesis to a new breed of Movie Wars. Ones where they don't have segmented episodes.

Wonder if Gaim will cameo, or if they are done having other characters from beyond the immediate previous season showing up?

Amazon 10

I already saw this episode once, but I goddamn loved it, so imma watch it again.

...y'know, Blackcat Beastman still friggin' sends chills down my spine. He's got a legitimately threatening, relatively non-silly suit (at least by 70's toku standards, anyway), he's a Combat Pragmatist that borders on being Dangerously Genre-Savvy, came infinitely closer to killing Amazon than any other Kaijin before him, and on top of that he's a blatant sadist that was willing to vent his grudge against Amazon on a bunch of little kids.

And then the way he gets offed is just fuckin' awesome. I've even immortalized it here.

If there were some kind of Tokusatsu Monster of the Week Hall Of Fame, Blackcat Beastman would absolutely be in it.

I'm really excited to see how Genesis turns out now that we know it's not split up. While there were a few good Movie Wars under the old system (lookin' at you Megamax), the majority were weak and lacking in cohesion. Also with regards to The Merch... resist buying in as long as you can. "Just my favorite rider's belt" quickly becomes shelves full of toys and very confused houseguests.

Also, isn't it weird that both the new Battride game and the new Movie Wars have the same subtitle?

Amazon 11

Well this is an ominous opening... I'm trusting that it's All Just a Dream of some kind, given that having an unintroduced Beastman kill Masahiko in the opening scene would be massively OOC for this show...

Oh, thank goodness, I was right. Nuthin' but a nightmare. Because that was seriously fucking scary. You ever have one of those dreams were you're running from The Terminator (or anything else that's intent on killing you) through a mist-covered wasteland, and despite yuo running your ass off, every time you look behind you the monster's gotten just a little bit closer despite its Unflinching Walk (or crawl/slither/whatever)? Well, that's the kind of dream Masahiko was having, and the monster was Snail Beastman. And the kid kept begging for Amazon to help him, with our hero nowhere to be found... <shudder> gah, that's some legitimate goddamned Nightmare Fuel.

...heh. When confronted by bullies, Masahiko took up Amazon's fighting stance (such as it is). Not gonna lie, that's kinda cute. Just the kind of palette-cleanser we needed.

And then Amazon retrieves Masahiko's snail for show-'n-tell. While breaking a baseball bat over his knee. grin

...aaaand now the Ten-Faced Demon is going to use Masahiko's hobby as a snail collector against Amazon. That's... that's just a whole different kind of jerkass. Damn that guy, spoiling the random shit that little kids do for fun!! ...aaaand just in case we forgot that the Ten-Faced Demon was pure evil, he eagerly reminds us that drinking the blood of children would be kickass and amazing and all other kinds of shit he looks forward to in a meal.

Another really creepy-ass thing is that Snail Beastman doesn't seem to have any lines. Sure, there's the standard Showa-era onomatopoeia-type noises that he makes, but it becomes really fucking creepy without cheesy villain threats and monologues to offset it.

...I see that Amazon hasn't learned yet that school is for not bothering Masahiko. That's not going to end well. ESPECIALLY in fcking Japan of all places. I really hope that Masahiko (or maybe Ritsuko, given that she doesn't irrationally despise the poor guy anymore) tries to explain the whole "compulsory education is Serious Business" thing to him later. ...or Tachibana could do it, too. I actually kinda forgot he existed for a moment. [lol]

The golden snail threatens to bring out the Green-Eyed Monster in Masahiko's buddies, just in time for those two-bit bullies to come back into the picture. And now Snail Beastman's trying to kill them all with foam breath- wait, did we just get a pantyshot of a little girl?! ...Eh, just a demonstration that Magic Skirt doesn't work in Real Life. Best to quickly ignore that and move on.

Speaking of moving on, here comes the Jungler! And it even has Amazon on it! Shame his Bike Fu is kinda eh, in my opinion. ...I know that salt is apparently snail kryptonite, but does that also apply to salt water? 'cos we're just past halfway through the episode, and Amazon appears to have just bike-kicked his foe into the ocea- no, wait, that's probably a freshwater lake. Nevermind.

I LOVE THIS SUBGROUP!

Oh shit, the kids are go- wait, Gedon just kidnapped them. That's not so ba- WTF am I saying?! Shit!

Mole Beastman is so totally the Butt-Monkey.

Good thing he's willing to put up with it, though, because having insider info on the villains' love of pulling a Kansas City Shuffle is awesome!

And of course Snail Beastman survived. ....but not long~. <3

And after getting tossed around for a couple of minutes, Amazon transforms. Cue the insert song, with ensuing Curb-Stomp Battle. Shame we didn't get much RIP AND TEAR today, though instead we get IIRC the show's very first mooksplosion (it's underwater, so pyrotechnics are minimal, but that's okay).

Cue adorable "everybody has fun playing baseball" ending.

New Heisei series just started yesterday:

Kamen Rider Ghost.

So if you want, you can start it at the same time as the rest of us if you can find a place that has it.

Double 1+2

Actually did the first half-dozen or so eps some time ago, but I'm trying it with Over-Time (or W-Time, as the filenames say here), for now. Hopefully, the fact that my main source only has the crazy-huge HD files will induce me to go through it a bit faster in the name of clearing out space.... >_>

Man, forgot about the intense Batman Cold Open this series has.

...W-B-X ain't my favorite Rider OP, but it is a snazzy one.

Ugh, this skirt <grimace>... I was able to sympathize with her in Movie Wars CORE, but damn I can't stand her at this point in the show. I'll count up her sins a bit later, as they come up.

Heh. Shotaro's such a detective fanboy, it damn near hurts.

Akiko's first sin! She constantly interrupts Shotaro's dramatic hardboiled narration and repeatedly smacks him with her goddamn slippers! I only let Auntie Haruka get away with that kind of shit!

Akiko's second sin! She keeps gleefully lording her deed over Shotaro, creating Mood Whiplash and impeding Shotaro from working toward, as stranger is wont to say, JUSTICE!!!

Akiko's third sin! She keeps trying to interfere with Shotaro's detective work! Now, this one I actually take a bit more seriously, since if he were an actual cop it should qualify as obstruction of justice. I mean, yeah, I perfectly understand the need for an Audience Surrogate who can receive exposition on behalf of the viewers - part of why I've become a lot more accepting of the Idiot Hero trope in anime/manga lately - but the way Akiko goes about gathering that exposition for us (in this instance, professional abuse/suddenly subjecting him to a hostile work environment) really pisses me off!

Honestly, fricken Kid Appeal Characters, you either love 'em or hate 'em.

...y'know, that's an incredibly powerful burst of wind that Double creates on transforming...

"Now... let's count your sins."

...not gonna lie, I actually prefer/red the T-N version, which feels more like it's commanding the villain to repent for their actions. "Now, count up your sins!"

Can't say I care too much for Double's iteration of the Rider Kick, either.

The waifu did it! Of course! ...And another detective team goes all to hell over a woman.

...that huge mega-car is going to go the way of the Power Dizer, ain't it?

Akiko's fourth sin! She makes things WORSE by involving herself, not better!

The Heat/Metal one is a way cooler Memory Break.

Wait, even the bad guy's right-hand cat has a Gaia Memory?!

[up][up]Akiko's the best! She actually makes an effort to get involved in what the boys are doing, unlike most female leads in KR, and she's actually helpful with surprising regularity. And yeah, don't be surprised when the Revol Garry starts going long stretched without appearing. But switching bike parts is still a pretty neat trick. Same goes for Joker's Maximum Drive. It gets dropped pretty quickly as they switch to cheaper finishers.

You'll enjoy Double.

And as for Akiko.....

I know your pain, but we'll see if you feel the same way as the series goes on.

Don't forget Movie Wars, since it's canon too.

Except that Akiko getting herself involved is part of what's pissing me off at present.

Rinko did it a million times better.

...actually, I could probably deal with Akiko's habit of meddling if she didn't act like a goddamned middle-schooler.

@Rob: I remember seeing the Decade/Double Movie Wars several years ago and liking it (same for Megamax), and I've already called back to Movie Wars CORE as actually making Akiko sympathetic.

Never seen any of the Movie Taisen films after Megamax, though.
