  • Call-Back:
    • In "Timebreaker," when Chat Noir follows the villain back in time, Past Adrien has to ask whom the former is, thinking he might be a villain like Copycat. Scarlet Lady alludes to this by asking "Did you get akumatized again?!".
    • During the "Bubbler" incident, Gabriel is impressed by Scarlet's supposed strategy. When he gets to meet her firsthand during "Simon Says," he's taken aback by her shallow behavior and flirty comments about his son. He also winds up winded again when rushing back to his secret lair, just like he did when he akumatized Nino.
    • Multiple in "Vanisher":
      • Adrien reaches his Rage Breaking Point in "Vanisher" upon learning Scarlet Lady won't be coming to help again, angrily noting that she's now been a late/no-show for the third time in a row. This partly prompts Fu to give Marinette the Bee Miraculous so she can help Adrien out.
      • When Chloé claims on TV that she is best friends with Scarlet Lady in "Vanisher," Sabrina retorts, "Didn't you learn anything from Lila!?", referring to Lila's similar claim in "Volpina" that got her publicly attacked and humiliated. This quickly escalates their fight, leading to Sabrina's akumatization.
    • Near the end of "Captain Hardrock," Chloé tries to use her father to threaten Officer Raincomprix, who recalls the events of "Rogercop" and informs her that he and Sabrina found out the mayor doesn't have the jurisdiction to fire him.
    • In "Syren," after finding out that Chat Noir is keeping secrets from her, Chloé comforts herself by hugging Mr. Cuddly (her teddy bear that Adrien mentioned in "Horrificator").
    • In "Dark Cupid," Marigold is happy for Adrien's support, "even after you saw me at my newest and clumsiest," referring to the mistake she made when defending him from Riposte, which caused him to injure his ankle.
    • In "Princess Fragrance," Marinette recognizes Tikki when she sees the Kwami with Chloé, as she'd previously met her in "Vanisher".
    • In "Desperada," Chloé pursues Jagged Stone for compensation for the damage Fang did to her shoes at the end of "Silencer."
    • In "Ikari Gozen," Chloé's application to the competition involving Adrien was denied, due to Gabriel banning her from his contests after what happened in "Mr. Pigeon."
  • Call-Forward:
    • In "Troublemaker," Penny offhandedly mentions Jagged paying child support. This is in reference to "Truth," which reveals that Jagged is Luka and Juleka Couffaine's father.
    • In "Gorizilla," Mayor Bourgeois mentions that his movie "Solitude" is being screened at the cinema. While his involvement with the film was hinted at in the canon episode, it isn't confirmed until "Sole Crusher."
  • The Call Knows Where You Live: Since Marinette still lives in Paris, Hawkmoth's still active, and Chloé still causes several akumatizations by virtue of being herself, Marinette finds herself caught in the crossfire time and again.
  • The Cameo:
    • Canon Bunnix briefly crashes Caprikid's solo patrol for giggles in the third intermission.
    • Though he isn't named, Chat Blanc appears as part of an illusion in "Catalyst".
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Chat Noir and Nino engage in some friendly banter while caught in Anansi's web:
    Chat Noir: 'Sup dude.
    Nino: Hey, howzit going.
Chat Noir: Oh, you know, just hanging around.
Nino: (lol) Hey, how come you don't Cataclysm the web?
Chat Noir: The web currently attached to our entire backs?
    Nino: Ah.
  • Catchphrase Interruptus: In "Princess Fragrance," Chloé complains to Tikki about being "stuck on the sidelines like some civilian."
    Chloé: Ridiculous, utterly-
    Tikki: Chloé—
  • Caught on Tape: In "Kung Food," it's revealed that Chloé was caught by a security camera while messing with the soup.
  • Character Development: After her father is temporarily fired in "Rogercop," Sabrina develops the beginnings of a Broken Pedestal relationship with Chloé in "Darkblade," no longer hanging onto her friend's every word. In "Reflekta," she is barely responsive and also refuses to carry out Chloé's dirty work against Juleka, to the point where Chloé asks, "Seriously, what is with you lately?" By the end of "Vanisher," their "friendship" is over for good.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper:
    • Like in canon, Chloé's attempt to cheat her way into winning the derby contest fails because the people she hired to make a derby based on the stolen design copied Marinette's name as well, with Marinette also pointing out that she has the original sketches while Chloé doesn't. After getting caught, Chloé is disqualified by Gabriel and Nathalie and banned from all future contests.
    • Chloé attempts to bribe her classmates for their votes in the class election by throwing a fancy campaign launch and offering them free CDs. They show up and happily accept the free giveaways while still fully intent on voting for Marinette anyway, who ends up winning by a landslide.
    • In this comic, Max is relying on prewritten codes during his failed attempt to win a spot at the gaming tournament.
    • Even though D'Argencourt let her corps-a-corps pass, it's undeniable that Kagami pushing Adrien off the mat and chasing him upstairs prevented a fair call by many witnesses who knew the sport better. She didn't deserve to win, and Word of God has confirmed that the winner was in fact Adrien.
    • A variant in "Ikari Gozen." Due to having her application for the Adrien hunt denied as a result of her actions in "Mr. Pigeon," Chloé tries to cheat by following Marinette and Kagami. She ambushes Marinette and takes the cell phone she is holding, thinking she has the final clue. Not only does she miss the final step for getting to Adrien's location, but she finds herself face to face with Kagami, whose phone she has stolen.
  • Childish Villain, Mature Hero: Scarlet Lady is a Childish Nominal Heroine to Chat Noir and Marigold's Actual Heroes: while Scarlet Lady is a spoiled Attention Whore who became a superheroine to get attention and puts little effort in actually being a heroine, Chat and Marigold take their duties as superheroes seriously, with Marigold even being a former Heroic Bystander before becoming a superhero.
  • The Chooser of the One:
    • Master Fu is meant to be this as the Guardian, but things went a bit Off the Rails, and he has no idea who Scarlet Lady is.
    • At the end of "Mr. Pigeon," Marianne Lenore wonders if the Rooster Miraculous would be a good fit for Xavier Ramier.
    • Adrien takes up this role for the first time in "Puppeteer" when he needs a hero to take Marigold's place after the villain steals her doll. He chooses to give Marinette the Mouse Miraculous because he doesn't know that she is Marigold.
  • Cliché: Adrien sees the idea of his father being a supervillain as practically this.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl:
    • Chloé to Adrien, naturally. As "The Gamer" shows, she's not even above attempting murder to keep her romantic rivals away from him.
    • Pollen is not fine with her holder Marinette using any other Kwami... except Tikki... but especially not Mullo!
  • Collective Death Glare:
    • Marinette and every member of Kitty Section (even Rose!) sports a Death Glare upon discovering that XY plagiarized them.
    • During "Zombizou," after pulling Marinette outside to talk about her reaction to Chloé ruining her birthday gift, Ms. Bustier requests Alya to keep the class on track. Said "track" is everyone glaring daggers at Chloé, who can only nervously Sweat Drop.
  • Color Failure:
  • Comically Missing the Point:
    • Chloé is extremely prone to this, usually because she's a Dumb Blonde who thinks she's the center of the universe:
      • When standing up to Chloé, Marinette compares her directly to supervillains like Hawkmoth, calling her a lowlife. Chloé is more upset by her offhandedly insulting her "stupid ponytail" near the end of her speech. Sabrina even lampshades this.
Sabrina: That's what you're mad about?
      • "The Pharaoh" sees Tikki attempting to convince Chloé to take Sabrina to see the Egyptian exhibit at the museum so they can brush up on their history together. The Kwami mentions that there will also be some cool Ladybug-related stuff to see there... and Chloé immediately leaps to the conclusion that there's a brand-new Scarlet Lady exhibit, ditching her study date with Sabrina to hurry off to the museum.
      • She only watches The Challenge so she can see Adrien, even though the contestant is Nino.
      • As Simon Says begins attacking Agreste Manor, M. Agreste orders Nathalie to take the teens to Adrien's room; Scarlet Lady thinks this means she's being invited to join Adrien.
      • Upon hearing in "The Collector" that Adrien's been grounded, Chloé assumes it means he's never coming back to school and has a Comical Overreaction over it.
      • In "Kung Food," Chloé tells Tikki to shut up and fails to realize the latter only obeyed because she's compelled to. Later in the episode, despite being dangled over a swimming pool full of hot soup, Chloé fails to realize the akuma intends to cook her until he outright states it. Additionally, while she does fear falling in, she only seems to be concerned that her hair will be ruined and not that she'll be boiled alive.
      • When Tikki points out how Mlle. Mendeleiev won't buy her "traumatized by hairdryers" excuse, Chloé states that she's right—an army of hairdryers couldn't dull her beauty.
      • Chloé grouses near the beginning of "Vanisher" about how she's going to be late for school since her butler didn't wake her up. Not realizing that Chloé's actually complaining to Tikki, the titular akuma just muses that Chloé must really like the sound of her own voice.
      • Even after Vanisher explains to Chloé how the latter's been rendered completely invisible and inaudible, Chloé continues trying the same tactics to get attention: yelling and complaining.
      • During the interview at the beginning of "Syren," Chat Noir states he's happier nowadays because he now has an amazing partner in Marigold. Chloé misses the blatant implication that Chat Noir thinks Scarlet Lady is useless—because she's only angry about the "sidekicks" doing an interview without her.
      • Chloé declares that Adrien's Valentine's Day poem isn't describing her "properly"; she doesn't realize that it's not describing her period.
      • When Puppeteer yells a string of childish insults about the heroes, Scarlet Lady only reacts to the accusation that she's "not pretty."
      • When XY declares that both she and Jagged Stone are crazy and that he's heading home, Scarlet Lady offers to carry him down herself, not understanding that he specifically wants to get away from her.
      • In "Ikari Gozen," when Tikki complains about Chloé following Marinette and Kagami, Chloé misinterprets it as Tikki implying that she doesn't think they're smart enough to win, off-handedly "agreeing" with the Kwami... but the two might win, and that's not fair to HER, is it?
      • She spends a good deal of "Gorizilla" trying to "rescue" Adrien from Marinette and complaining that he's making it harder for her by fleeing with Marinette each time.
      • Chloé doesn't even consider the possibility that an akuma's responsible for her being attacked by her belongings in "Sandboy" until Tikki suggests it. Instead, she's convinced that her stuff got jealous of her and came to life to overthrow her.
      • Scarlet Lady fails to pick up on the idea that dancing is meant to make the heroes' movements harder for Party Crasher to predict, which enables him to easily pick her off while she's showing off her training.
      • She doesn't seem to realize that Chat Noir and Marigold are flirting with each other in "Frozer" and simply dismisses their behavior as them being weird. When Marigold laters asks Chat Noir why he just called her "Ma Princesse," a nickname he's only ever used for her civilian identity, Scarlet Lady interrupts by stating it's obvious—she's wearing a tiara!
      • "Queen Wasp" has Audrey scoff at the idea that Chloé is exceptional and then list several of her daughter's recent failures. Chloé is just touched that her mother's actually kept abreast of what's going on in her life, not realizing Audrey is actually bringing them up to roast her.
    • During his photo shoot in "Stormy Weather," Adrien's told to smile like he does when his mom brings in spaghetti, right as Marinette passes by and waves at him, making him absolutely light up. His photographer Vincent, unaware of what is going on, comments that Adrien must really like spaghetti.
    • Hawkmoth praises Scarlet Lady for cleverly staying away from the fight with The Bubbler to hide the earrings from Hawkmoth and his akuma. The truth, of course, is that the Ladybug heroine is simply too lazy to actually participate in the fight.
    • In "Lady Wifi," all of Marinette's attempts to tell the titular villain that she isn't Scarlet Lady fall flat.
Marinette: I don't even like Scarlet Lady.
Lady Wifi: Girl, we gotta work on your self-esteem.
    • Jalil has seemingly hilariously misinterpreted an Egyptian scroll at the Louvre, as Alix points out that all of his theories regarding it are demonstrably false. Moreover, though his father Alim Kubdel stresses that there are several reasons why using priceless museum artifacts to perform what Jalil alleges is a resurrection ritual involving Human Sacrifice is a terrible idea, Jalil brushes it all off as his Fantasy-Forbidding Father simply not getting him and his genius.
Mr. Kubdel: Jalil, you're not using museum artifacts to perform a sacrificial ritual! For several reasons!
Jalil: [flipping him off] Gawd, you just don't understand me dad!
    • Alya takes offense to the other girls distracting The Pharaoh by implying that one of them would make a much better sacrifice, missing the fact that they were trying to save her.
    • When the class find one of Kim's armbands in "Horrificator," Alya says it's covered with the same stuff from the bathroom. Alix declares that TMI.
    • After Adrien sees that his earlier comment about how they're lucky they don't have to deal with an akuma is no longer applicable thanks to Rogercop arriving on the scene, Plagg expresses pride in his bearer being a "true Black Cat."
    • When Marinette points out in "Reflekta" that they would be able to get a retake if the first photo disappeared, Rose asks why the photo would disappear—not realizing Marinette intends to erase it personally. Later, Tikki sees Marinette trying to steal the ruined class photo and laments that without her guidance, Marinette is becoming a criminal... not really considering the fact that Marinette is doing this for a good reason (so they can retake it with Juleka) or that the Kwami "positive influence" has done absolutely nothing for Chloé.
    • Kim thinks that the bet he had with Alix in "Timebreaker" just keeps him from making dares for the rest of the year, so he only has to hold it for a month. Max corrects him—it's meant to be for the rest of the school year, meaning until summer.
    • Simon Says hypnotizes M. Agreste into believing the latter's a butterfly, causing Nathalie to start snorting. Marinette tries to console the older woman, mistakenly thinking she's crying.
    • Lila mistakenly thinks that Adrien's comment about Scarlet Lady being "something else" means he has a soft spot for the heroine, even as he says it with a visibly unhappy expression. Of course, this was partly due to Chloé barging into the conversation and answering for him.
    • When Marinette sees Wang Cheng picking petals apart from the bouquet she gave him, she panics and thinks her great uncle is destroying her gift because he already hates her, not knowing he's simply thinking about using the petals as soup ingredients later.
    • In "Riposte," D'Argencourt is so excited about Adrien and Kagami's exciting match being "real" fencing that he ignores the latter's illegal moves.
    • "Captain Hardrock" has Alya attempting to tease Marinette about the latter's crush on Adrien, only for Marinette to sincerely agree that it's always great when he gets the chance to spend time with his friends. The caption even remarks, "Marinette just Matrix Dodged that hint." Similarly, when Alya likens the ship's magnetized compass to Marinette and Adrien, Marinette instead thinks Alya's talking about herself and Nino.
    • In "Syren," Plagg seemingly doesn't (or refuses to) acknowledge the importance of keeping the power-up recipes secret from Kwamis despite Master Fu pointing out they may fall into the wrong hands like Nooroo did. The Kwami even decides to break some of Master Fu's pots when the Guardian shuts him and Wayzz out of the room as the potions are being made.
    • After hearing in "Dark Cupid" that Adrien apparently has a crush on her Secret Identity, Marinette goes to the bathroom so she can talk with Pollen about it, being both flattered and flustered by the news. Meanwhile, Alya is waiting outside the door and can only hear garbled words, which she thinks is Marinette talking to herself to deal with the bad news.
    • Played With when Puppeteer is afraid of getting caught stealing back the Lady Wifi doll by Nadja, explaining, "Mommy will get mad and I'll get in trouble!" Hawkmoth reminds her that she's an akuma, but the author sides with Puppeteer, retorting in the captions, "Yeah, and she's still MOM! (It's not worth it!)" A straighter example occurs near the end of the episode: Manon is thrilled to learn that she and Marinette will be making a special, secret Multimouse doll that only the two of them will know about... and immediately wants to take the doll to the zoo, completely missing the point of it being a secret.
    • Marinette sees Chloé with Tikki in "Princess Fragrance" and assumes Chloé stole Scarlet Lady's Kwami. Also, when Chloé tells Prince Ali at the end of the episode that Rose has a girlfriend, trying to imply that she's off the market, he simply declares that he'd love to meet said girlfriend (though this may instead be because he's perfectly fine with Polyamory, as later shown).
    • After the Anansi is defeated, Marinette, Alya, Adrien, and Nino invite Nora to join them the next time they go ice skating... which she takes as a follow-up challenge to the one she lost near the beginning of the episode.
    • André the ice cream man thinks that Rose and Juleka are just "gals being pals."
    • In "Crocoduel," Jagged Stone fails to realize his tour bus ruins any chances of making a sneaky entrance.
    • Multiple cases of this in "Zombizou":
      • Kim doesn't understand that the class's "Meditation Minutes" aren't meant to be a free nap time.
      • Mme. Bustier's shown standing by beaming while Lila and Chloé throw Stealth Insults back and forth at each other.
      • As a zombified Sabrina starts kissing her, Lila yells, "Now's not the time to realize how amazing I am!"
    • The groupie who blows Adrien's cover at the movies in "Gorizilla" gushes over how "Adrien's at the movies with a helmet! And his girlfriend who just got out of the shower!" completely failing to pick up on (or just not caring about) the notion that they were trying to hide their identities from nosy Jerkasses like them.
    • A Running Gag in "Sandboy" is people misinterpreting the nightmares caused by the titular akuma. While witnessing Master Fu's nightmare of being blamed for the Order of the Guardians' destruction, Marinette sees the Bedsheet Ghosts and wonders why he's so afraid of talking handkerchiefs. Soon afterwards, Plagg returns to the manor, causing Adrien to cry tears of immense relief that his Kwami is no longer a sock, not realizing that Plagg had snuck off after leaving a sock as a Sleeping Dummy.
    • When Max observes in "Party Crasher" that Agreste Manor has a power supply capable of competing with a nuclear station, Adrien just remarks, "My father always has to own the biggest and the best," failing to understand why Max is so deeply concerned. Then during the fight against the titular akuma, Scarlet Lady fails to pick up on the idea that dancing is meant to make their movements harder for Party Crasher to predict, which enables him to easily pick her off while she's showing off her training.
    • Several instances of this in "Frozer":
      • Kim doesn't realize that Ondine suggested the ice rink as a place Marinette and Adrien (and Kagami and Luka) could have some privacy, proceeding to invite himself and his girlfriend along before extending an invitation to all their other friends. Later, when Philippe asks Kim if he's interested in skating lessons, Kim asks if Philippe can turn the rink into a pool. Kim also doesn't understand why Nino keeps wiping out, not realizing that he's intentionally pretending to be worse at skating than he actually is in order to get closer to Alya.
      • When Adrien shouts at his date peeping classmates if they don't mind (clearly wanting them to give him and Marinette some privacy), Rose deliberately misses the point so she can keep watching. Alya likewise tells the couple to keep going as she films them.
    • Rose thinks Adrien is just getting into character in "Frightningale" when he starts blowing kisses like Chat Noir does while dressed as the superhero for the music video shoot. The truth, of course, is that he's doing it to mess with Marinette, whom he correctly believes knows his secret identity. Clara Nightingale likewise makes this assumption when she sees Marinette and Adrien interacting like their superhero identities do.
    • When offered the Rooster Miraculous with the power of Pretension, Lila thinks Chat Noir just called them pretentious and acts offended. They still accepts the gig, though.
Caption: I-it has two meanings, Lila, I swear!
  • Commonality Connection: In "Animan", Nino and Alya realize they "have a lot in common".
Nino: An interest in video editing...
    Alya: Really young siblings...
Nino and Alya: [looking at Adrien and Marinette] Best friends that ditch them.
  • Compliment Fishing: In "The Gamer," Adrien does this during his practice session with Marinette. He praises her playing and says that he's no good, expecting a comforting reassurance. Marinette instead frankly tells him, "That adds up," explaining that since he has only played alone, he's not used to working as part of a team. In the end, this provides a good reason for him to give his place in the tournament up to Max.
  • Compressed Adaptation: The comic doesn't go into too much details on the plots, mostly keeping its focus on Chloé, Adrien and Marinette, trusting its audience to have seen the show to know how some of the akumas came about, how they're defeated and the plot developments concerning Hawkmoth. The fun in the comic is seeing how they play out with Chloé as the main super heroine instead of Marinette. The only exception to this is the Vanisher chapter; the original episode used Vanisher as a simple setup to lead into Antibug, while Chloé is the Ladybug hero in this continuity and unlikely to be akumatized that way, so the comic creates a whole new story actually focusing on Vanisher instead.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Adrien's personal photographer is handling the class picture in "Reflekta," much to Chloé's utter disgust, as she remembers how he sassed her when they met back in "Stormy Weather."
    • Alec rigging the contest in "Stormy Weather" has given Aurore power over him, which explains why Nino was able to get on as a Challenge contestant in "Simon Says."
    • In "La Befana," Plagg brings up the time Marinette was Maotif.
    • In "Kung Food," Hawkmoth warns the akuma, "Make sure you get Chat Noir first. Attacking the girl never ends well." The experience of La Befana must be fresh in his mind.
    • In "Evillustrator," Chat Noir leaves a message for Scarlet Lady that her supposed "best friend" is being targeted and that "you might want to pretend to care for 5 minutes." This is based on his impression after Scar failed to show up in time to save Chloé from Kung Food's soup.
    • Also in "Evillustrator," Chat Noir is surprised to find Scar facing off against the akuma at the hotel. When she proclaims, "Obviously! My best friend, Chloé Bourgeous was in danger!", Chat replies, "Is that why you almost let her become soup last week?" This causes her to break out in a nervous sweat.
    • The flashback in "Vanisher" shows that Jagged Stone hasn't forgotten about Chloé sabotaging the soup he was judging in "Kung Food," telling Nadja that she could have poisoned him. Sabrina was also wearing the hat Chloé gave her at the end of "Evillustrator," as well as the rose-shaped brooch that will become her akumatized object.
    • In "Riposte," Tikki and Plagg watch a video on Chloé's cell phone, showing Marigold giving an interview with a sheepish grin, captioned "Bravo Marigold", which shows an event that was skipped over in "Vanisher."
    • Also in "Riposte," all the girls in Marinette's class (except for Chloé) wear the bee accessories she made and gave out in the previous episode.
    • Scarlet Lady initially tries to attack Foxtrot in "Sapotis," mistaking them for an akuma similar to Volpina.
    • In "Crocoduel," when the class expresses surprise at the fact that a person can be akumatized more than once, Rose points out that "that one florist" gets akumatized often, as was shown at the beginning of "Princess Fragrance."
    • When Wayhem sees Adrien in "Gorizilla", he mentions how they'd previously met at the competition in "Ikari Gozen".
  • Contrived Coincidence: In "Puppeteer" the author has Tikki request more cookies at just the right time so that Chloé will see Lady WiFi flying up to Marinette's room. She assumes it's to prove Marinette is Scarlet Lady again, which annoys her. Otherwise she might not have gone into action at all.
  • Convenient Slow Dance: It's not convenient for Chloé in "Despair Bear" when she can find nobody to dance with at her party, but it's convenient that she drives Nathaniel to dance with Marc, so that they start to get together long before they did in canon.
  • Cool Mask: In "La Befana," Lila gives Marinette a Venetian carnevale mask for her birthday. She bluntly admits she wanted to get rid of it because it reminded her too much of Scarlet Lady.
  • Correlation/Causation Gag: In "Reflekta", Marinette thinks her pleas and flattery get the photographer to do a retake, when he actually does it for Adrien, who was whispering "please" behind her. A humorous version of Scared of What's Behind You where the effect is influence (and his suspicions about Adrien's crush) rather than fear.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Alec, who not only rubs Aurore's loss in her face, but also rigged the votes so that Mireille would win.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot:
    • As Marinette notes, all Alya had to do to prevent the events of "Lady Wifi" from playing out as they did was ask her about the suspiciously spotted object she saw Marinette putting in her locker. Had she asked, Marinette would have happily told her that it was part of some costumes she was making so the kids she babysits can play heroes. She also ribs Alya for forgetting about how she was taken hostage during the Stoneheart incident. In fairness, Nino was the one to make that suggestion first, and Alya did attempt to call Marinette to ask her. But when all she got was a voice message, Alya opted for the locker ploy rather than just wait the following morning to ask her.
    • After the defeat of Guitar Villain where Jagged points out anyone would want to work with the "second best" musician, Marinette questions why he didn't do that earlier.
    • When Marinette expresses relief that her class was able to prevent a creepy old person or crazy fan from meeting Adrien via the scavenger hunt in "Ikari Gozen," Freddie informs her that the contest had an age limit.
    • Throughout "The Mime," Marinette works herself into a panic over how she accidentally deleted one of Alya's videos, desperately trying to figure out how to recover it. When she finally admits what happened, Alya reassures her that it was already uploaded safely to the cloud, and she's only mildly annoyed that Marinette didn't come clean sooner.
    • In "Queen Wasp," after Marinette and Adrien have a private Internal Reveal of their Secret Identities, Marinette points out to Adrien that he could have discovered Scarlet Lady's Secret Identity when he was Aspik. Adrien goes into a brief Heroic BSoD when he realizes this.
  • Crazy-Prepared:
    • As in Canon, Marinette has everyone's schedules plotted out on a board in order to make coordinating easier. When she gets ribbed for it in "Copycat" by Alya, Marinette responds by pointing out that her friend forgot about the statue unveiling.
    • Because her mother goes through her phone all the time, Kagami deletes any text messages and calls from her friends and doesn't save their numbers, having instead memorized all their contact information.
  • Creator Cameo:
    • The author's personal OC makes a cameo appearance at the beginning of "Princess Fragrance," having just been akumatized and defeated.
      • She also shows up as a background character in "The Gamer" Part 7.
  • Crocodile Tears: Chloé fakes tears while convincing Sabrina to let her bum off their project, claiming she was traumatized by Evillustrator's attack. She palms an eyedropper just out of Sabrina's line of sight.
  • Crush Blush:
    • Théo gets one while talking to Scarlet Lady, and later while watching Marinette call Scarlet Lady out... until Chat Noir steps in to shut that down.
    • Adrien and Marinette both get one during "The Gamer" when they end up on top of each other after dodging the titular Akuma's attack.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Stormy Weather initially lays one down on Scarlet Lady and Chat Noir.
  • Curse Cut Short: When Orikko tells Lila why he can't give anyone the same power Tikki gives Scarlet Lady...
Orikko: Tikki would beat my as—
    Lila: Eh? Why not?
  • Cutting the Knot:
    • The Lucky Charms are the same for each akuma as in canon, but because Marinette doesn't start off as the Ladybug superhero, there were many times when she wasn't around to figure out how to use the Lucky Charm. Chat Noir and Scarlet Lady usually can't come up with a good plan on their own, so they (mostly Chat Noir due to Scarlet Lady's laziness) often resort to just throwing it at the akuma or hitting the akuma with the Lucky Charm. It's eventually referred to as the "Chat Noir method".
    • Scarlet Lady comes across two Chat Noirs in "Copycat." Rather than trying to Spot the Impostor, she decides to just take them both in.
    • Played with in "Pixelator," where the Lucky Charm object is a compact mirror. Marigold tells Scarlet Lady to use the above-mentioned "Chat Noir method," which the latter took to mean knockout the akuma by throwing the compact at him. However, Marigold really meant throw the Lucky Charm so Pixelator's beam is reflected back to him. Fortunately, Scarlet Lady's poor aim results in the Lucky Charm having just the right projectile path to make Marigold's actual plan work.

    D
  • Damsel in Distress: Marinette becomes this in Chloé's place during the second Stoneheart attack.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Adrien/Chat, Tikki, Sabrina... anyone who hangs out with Chloé/Scarlet Lady on a regular basis, really.
    • In terms of people not in the above category, Alix gets some pretty good snark in whenever she shows up.
  • "Dear John" Letter: Anarka and Jagged both accuse the other of breaking up with them this way. Turns out the letters were forged by Bob Roth.
  • Death Glare:
    • Implied in "Copycat"; we don't get to see Chat Noir's face after he hears that Théo thought he and Scarlet Lady were an item, but whatever expression he turns towards his partner is enough to make her recoil with fright.
    • We do get to see the look he gives Théo after he starts Crush Blushing while watching Marinette yell at Scarlet Lady, which is enough to shut that down cold.
    • Nathalie and Principal Damocles hit Chloé with a double-barrel death glare after she attempts to blame her plagiarism attempt on her best friend, throwing her under the bus to try and save herself.
    • Ivan is not pleased when he learns Nino went behind Alya and Mylène's backs and wrote in a kiss scene between Adrien and Mylène's characters in their movie.
    • Marinette gives Chloé a flat stare after she accuses her of stealing her bracelet, while Adrien and Tom have matching furious looks as they rise to their friend/daughter's defense.
    • Adrien hits Chloé with a withering look after she traps Juleka in the bathroom, ruins the photo with her attempts to force herself onto his arm, then 'suggests' to the principal that they don't have time to retake it with so many other classes waiting for their pictures.
    • Adrien is not happy when he finds out that Lila threw out his father's book on the Miraculous after she stole it from him.
  • Death Is Cheap: It's mentioned in the author's notes that Miraculous Cure can bring people back from the dead, meaning death by akuma battle has no meaning. It's then deconstructed in the fact that this makes Scarlet Lady extremely indifferent towards civilians in danger.
  • Death of a Child: In "Rogercop," the mayor fears this after the titular akuma presents him with his daughter's bag and declares that she was "punished for her crimes". All he can do in the face of this is tear up, whispering a Little "No".
  • Deleted Scenes: The author says, "I tend to skip over some scenes if I can't think of a way to change it enough from canon and it's not totally vital to the story, so I'll imply it happened without showing it..." giving the example of a deleted fight scene in "The Gamer" where the heroes won a mecha to control.
  • Deliberate Under-Performance: Adrien purposely messes up as Aspik over countless loops to create an excuse to not be called on again, which will allow him to better maintain his secret identity.
  • Demoted to Extra:
    • While Alix had an important role in the climax of "Reverser" in canon, she is completely absent in the comic's version of the fight due to Nathaniel trying to help the heroes and being given the Goat Miraculous rather than going to visit her at the Louvre, leading to the heroes going straight to the Eiffel Tower to confront the akuma.
    • Downplayed with Marc, who didn't get as much screentime in canon to begin with compared to most of Marinette and Adrien's other friends. However, they don't even get to use a Miraculous here because Lila's Heel–Face Turn results in the last available one begin given to her instead.
  • Department of Redundancy Department:
    • The captions at the end of "Mr. Pigeon": "Pigeon Man on his Pigeon Roof with his Pigeon Friends gets a Pigeon Happy End!"
    • The subtitle for "The Gamer" is "Tales of Max the Pro Gamer"; similarly, the one for "Princess Fragrance" is "Tales of Rose the Princess."
  • Description Cut: While working on Marinette's surprise party, Alya boasts, "She won't know what hit her!" The next panel shows Marinette waiting for Alya's phone call and saying, "It's cute that they think they're subtle."
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • Chloé is a frequent victim of this:
      • Chloé's decision to steal Marinette's work for the design contest. Not only does Marinette incorporate her name onto her designs, she points out that she has all the original sketches.
      • Chloé insults Marinette right as she's handing out free croissants on Career Day, sarcastically ordering her not to get her "Poor Grease" near her precious bracelet. Marinette responds by skipping over her entirely.
      • She's actually surprised when her bribes in "Darkblade" don't win her any votes for class president. Apparently, it never occurred to her that the classmates she regularly bullies might just take her free stuff and vote for Marinette anyway.
      • During "The Gamer," Chloé attempts to con her way into the bakery by claiming that she and Marinette have a school project together. Not only does Sabine refuse to let her in, the woman points out that she's fully aware of how much Chloé's bullied her daughter over the years (not to mention what happened when she recently let Sabrina in...).
      • Chloé complains about Reflekta, asking "Why does an akuma have to come now?" forgetting that she anticipated getting an akuma to fight when she locked Juleka in the bathroom.
      • Scarlet Lady chooses to follow Marigold when the latter rescues Adrien from Riposte... leading the akuma right to where she hid him. The other heroine does a Facepalm upon realizing Scarlet's stupidity.
    • Nino presents his entry for the film festival to the mayor the end of "Horrificator" without editing it first or making sure the plot and characters are good (or that the film even had a plot and characters at all). Unsurprisingly, it doesn't even make it past the first round.
    • Lila mixes this with Didn't See That Coming in "Volpina." Her attempt to impress everyone by claiming to be Scarlet Lady's BFF has more mixed results due to others having more experience with what the superheroine is really like. In addition, giving an interview about being Scarlet Lady's best friend for a popular blog probably would've quickly resulted in the heroine finding out about Lila's Celebrity Lie and Lila becoming a Liar Revealed even if Scarlet Lady weren't an Alpha Bitch. Lila also failed to consider what might happen if Adrien checked his bag before meeting up with her and figured out that she'd "borrowed" his book and is caught completely flat-footed when he calls her out on the Contrived Coincidence of her revealing her Secret Legacy to him right afterwards.
    • Played for Laughs in Riposte's denouement. Once everything's been resolved, Plagg points out to Adrien that by deciding to convince D'Argencourt to let Kagami onto the fencing team, he's unintentionally sacrificed a chance to have Marinette join instead. Adrien's reaction makes clear that he hadn't thought about that.
    • In "Troublemaker," Marinette uses the same idea she had in canon—to put glue on her Miraculous so that Troublemaker will get stuck when she tries to remove it. However, since a comb is bigger than a pair of earrings, she has to use more glue, and Troublemaker's hand ends up being stuck to her head, presumably until Scarlet Lady does the Miraculous Cure.
    • During "Prime Queen," Nadja fails to consider that her guests can respond to her harassment by simply getting up and walking out rather than being forced to answer her invasive and demanding questions.
    • Prime Queen punches through the pizza box covering the screen using the arm that has her akumatized object on it. Scarlet Lady and Marigold actually agree on how stupid that was.
    • In "The Mime," Marinette decides to steal Alya's phone while she's in full view of Mylène. It's not surprising that she gets caught immediately.
    • In the tags for Part 8 of "Gorizilla," the fic's author wonders why Hawkmoth isn't concerned that, if Adrien really is Chat Noir and has his identity exposed to the whole world, whoever gave him his Miraculous might get it back before Hawkmoth has a chance to take it for himself.
  • Disability Immunity: By being an unpleasant person, Scar fails to inspire Marinette to make a cute, representational doll of Scarlet Lady for the kids she babysits. She makes an ugly paper-bag doll instead, which Scar tears up in anger. This renders Scar immune from the Puppeteer's control.
  • Disappointed by the Motive: The mayor asks, "...That's it?" when Chloé wants the school closed and Zoé banished because the latter doesn't know who Scarlet Lady is.
  • Disaster Dominoes: Jalil shoves Scarlet Lady right into his sister Alix, who bumps into Marinette, who gets knocked into Adrien. Which Adrien doesn't mind so much, except it also causes Scarlet Lady to notice he's there.
  • Disproportionate Retribution:
    • In "Lady Wifi," Chloé finds out that Alya thinks Marinette is Scarlet Lady. She responds by snapping a photo of Alya getting into Marinette's locker, then makes a scene in the principal's office and railroads him into suspending her from school for a whole week. Discussed by Sabrina and Kim after they witness the whole debacle in the principal's office:
Kim: I just thought Alya was taking something from Marinette's locker.
Sabrina: And I thought Chloé just wanted to get her in trouble. I didn't know she wanted to go that far. Especially when Alya didn't even do anything to her.
Kim: Maybe Marinette can talk to the principal and get her a lighter sentence...
    • A bonus panel for "Horrificator" implies that Hawkmoth deliberately made Mylène's akuma incapable of speech in response to her sassing him. (One of the tags on said comic implies that Mylène thinks this is Worth It.)
    • "Rogercop" opens with Adrien implying to his father that because he broke his promise to come to Parent's Career Day, he's going to ruin his diet by binging on the croissants Tom and Marinette brought in. Gabriel swears to himself that he's "akumatizing the S**T out of someone now" purely to get back at his errant son.
    • In "The Gamer":
      • Max wants to hurt Marinette because she (a girl) beat him in a game. Hawkmoth even points out to Max that he was beat by two people.
      • Chloé tries to get Marinette zapped, all because she was hanging out with Adrien.
    • In "Volpina," Chloé reacts to Lila's lie that she is friends with Scarlet Lady with extreme hostility (that Lila tried to approach Adrien with it didn't help) and assaults her in front of the whole class, tossing her into a nearby fountain.
    • As in canon, Jagged Stone fired Vivica in "Desperada" because she ate his cereal and drank Fang's milk. However, it's implied in the comic that he actually just used that as an excuse to have Luka and/or Juleka play music with him, which Anarka calls him out on.
    • In "Malediktator," Chloé wants the school closed and Zoé banished because the latter doesn't know who Scarlet Lady is.
  • Distinction Without a Difference: When Tikki tries to tell a jealous Chloé that Adrien is free to date whoever he wants, Chloé replies that of course he is, but only if it's her.
  • Dope Slap:
    • Nino gets one from Alya at the end of "Horrificator" after admitting that he let his position as director get to his head.
    • Nathalie does one with perfect comedic timing once the Collector is defeated, hitting Gabriel with a folder as payback for him going after her as an akuma.
  • Dramatic Irony:
    • In "Reflekta," both Scarlet Lady and Marinette recognize one of the akuma's victims as Chat Noir, not as Adrien Agreste. This leads to Scarlet openly mocking them for getting zapped, blissfully unaware that she's making fun of her crush.
    • "La Befana" has Mme. Bustier acting authoritative for once and scolding several students for bullying... pity that she's doing so in defense of Chloé, the biggest bully in her class. And forcing said students to invite her to Marinette's birthday party, setting the stage for more problems.
    • After posting Lila's claims on her blog without verifying anything hurt her credibility, Alya declares that she's going to be more careful from now on. Yet after the "Evillustrator" incident, she's shown interviewing Chloé and getting a hilariously biased version of events.
    • During "Guitar Villain," Chloé notes that Adrien's father might veto her plans to hang out with Adrien, prompting her to make a "backup plan." What she doesn't know is that Gabriel is actually forcing Adrien to spend time with her, as he agreed on his son's behalf.
    • Near the end of "Zombizou," Mme. Bustier praises Scarlet Lady for being Chloé's best friend and not leaving her alone, not realizing that Chloé is truly friendless now. The author adds, "Why don't you actually reflect on WHY Chloé is alone?"
    • In "Gorizilla," Chloé turns down the chance to go to the movie her father directed, preferring to obsess over Adrien's new fragrance and its commercial. She's unaware that Adrien himself is going to the movie that day.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point:
    • Again, this is a Running Theme with Chloé:
      • She dismisses Adrien's threat to end their friendship in "Origins Part 2," claiming that "He didn't mean that" and that he'll lose interest in their classmates after "realizing how lame they are." Her refusal to take the threat seriously eventually leads to him following through on it.
      • When Sabrina tries explaining to Chloé in "The Bubbler" that Adrien's gift won't be delivered for another week because the titular akuma's attack sent all the adults away, Chloé fails to make the connection and angrily demands, "SO WHAT?!"
      • Sabrina spirals into a Heroic BSoD in "Rogercop" after Chloé orders her father to fire Roger for not illegally searching or arresting Marinette and instead suggesting Chloé misplaced her bracelet. Upon seeing her "best friend" in such a state, Chloé simply accuses Sabrina of being sketchy before demanding her friend give up her bag to be searched. Additionally, Chloé is so hellbent on getting Marinette arrested for allegedly stealing her bracelet that she drags the latter to Rogercop. When the akuma tells Chloé to get into his car so that they can discuss it, she's so relieved by the prospect of the akuma arresting Marinette that she complies, throwing Marinette inside before getting in the car herself, which of course results in the two of them becoming the akuma's hostages. She then continues to argue with Marinette and try to get Rogercop to arrest her as the car flies off, still oblivious to her situation.
      • While working together with Marinette to take down Gamer, Chat makes a pointed comment about how he knows he can rely upon her. Scarlet reacts more to the way he's flirting with Marinette than to the implied insult aimed her way.
      • After getting increasingly frustrated by Chloé's antics in "Reflekta," Adrien hits his Rage Breaking Point and outright shoves her away right as the class photo is being taken. Despite this moment of rejection being immortalized on film, Chloé still views it as "her picture with Adrien" and proof of their bond. Additionally, Sabrina refuses to do Chloé's dirty work for her anymore, having grown tired of her "friend" taking her for granted; Chloé utterly fails to comprehend this and just dismisses it as weird behavior. Lastly, when [[spoiler:Maotif says Chat Noir "doesn't need powers to fight akuma" and uses themself as an example by claiming to "do it all the time," Scarlet Lady, unlike Chat Noir, fails to realize Maotif is Marinette.
      • She fails to understand why she should be concerned about civilians dying when she can just bring them back with the Miraculous Cure after she wins, expressing this sentiment in "Volpina," "Captain Hardrock," and "Prime Queen," much to others' horror.
      • In "The Collector," Chloé demands that Marinette give her Lila's contact information so she can track Lila down and make her pay for stealing Gabriel's book and thus getting Adrien grounded. Marinette refuses and adds that she already gave the book back to Adrien, meaning there's no need to bother Lila over it. Chloé completely misses this and instead just declares that she'll have to find Lila herself if Marinette won't help her.
      • Scarlet Lady bumps into Chat Noir while fleeing La Befana, leading the akuma to where Marinette is in the process. Despite all this, the heroine fails to realize why Chat Noir is so mad at her, responding to his Death Glare with a Defensive "What?"
      • She utterly fails to understand why Sabrina is angry at her for refusing to pull her weight for their group's physics report in "Evillustrator" and thinks that bribing Sabrina by offering to lend her a beret is enough to fix things. When Sabrina later agrees to give her one Last-Second Chance, Chloé still doesn't realize that Sabrina is serious about possibly ending their friendship and just brushes it off with a "Yeah, sure, whatever!"
      • "Vanisher" is filled with examples of her doing this:
      • Despite Mayor Bourgeois calling a sudden staff meeting and airing an emergency broadcast about his daughter's disappearance as well as the class noting her absence, Chloé doesn't realize that she's been rendered invisible, inaudible, and intangible until Vanisher outright tells her.
      • Chloé fails to realize that Vanisher is targeting her out of vengeance for something Chloé did the day before, insisting to the akuma that she never messes up. Afterwards, she declares that it's not her fault that Vanisher and all the other akumas that have attacked her did so because they're jealous (as opposed to her being an unrepentant Jerkass).
      • Sabrina interrupts Chloé's tirade about how the former got akumatized and "attacked [her] best friend!" to counter that she and Chloé are no longer friends. Chloé complains that she's the one breaking up with Sabrina, not the other way round, rather than focus on the loss of their friendship.
      • Sometime after the akuma's defeat, Chloé yells at Tikki, "Where were you?!" and complains that there are ladybugs all over, not realizing Tikki is sick from having to a difficult solo World-Healing Wave to rescue her holder from the akuma's power.
      • When Chloé intrudes on the group of four in "Animan," Adrien glowers that she somehow managed to find him despite him never telling her he'd be at the zoo. Chloé completely misses (or chooses to ignore) the implications of his words or his angry tone, declaring she must've found him due to their "deep connection."
      • When Pixelator, an obvious akuma, claims to be her biggest fan and asks if he can take her picture—right before asking what her name is—Chloé agrees and strikes a pose, failing to sense the imminent danger or pick up on the clear inconsistency.
      • She does this throughout the entirety of "Despair Bear." When Adrien confronts Chloé about calling the fire department, she completely fails to pick up on his incredulity and proudly admits her crime. She also doesn't comprehend why he's talking about how much he's learned about friendship, clearly wondering what his point is before getting blindsided by his declaration that they aren't friends anymore. Chloé then acts as if the only reason why Adrien broke his friendship with her was the "little prank," completely missing his point that calling the fire department just to stop the baking lesson was actually the straw that broke the camel's back. Even when she decides to throw a party to show how "nice" she is, she still doesn't understand the spirit behind her butler encouraging her to be nicer to her peers, seeing it simply as a way to win back Adrien's regard.
      • She mistakes the ice cream André hands over to Adrien in "Intermission 2" for a Scarlet Lady cone (though to be fair, several others did as well, including Adrien himself) and thinks it proves that they're soulmates. It turns out André hadn't finished making the ice cream, which was actually supposed to represent Marinette.
      • While trying to convince Luka to ditch his "loser friends" and go solo in "Silencer," Chloé complains about how hard it was for her to reproduce Marinette's work, completely ignoring the fact she was only asked to do so in the first place because Bob Roth deemed it good enough to steal.
      • When asked in "Ikari Gozen" why she isn't competing in the contest, she responds, "My application was denied for some reason," either having forgotten she's still banned from all contests involving the Gabriel brand due to her plagiarism in "Mr. Pigeon" or failing to make the connection between the two events. She also doesn't comprehend that school and after-school clubs are about more than "playing" and complains about Adrien spending time with anyone other than her, not realizing just why he would choose to spend time with other people, especially since he'd already declared the two of them won't be friends from now on.
      • Marinette snarks in "Zombizou" that Chloé would need a heart to care about others. Chloé declares she does have a heart (i.e., the organ) and could even buy Marinette's.
      • Upon overhearing Alix and Nathaniel discuss his new sketches of his own version of Scarlet Lady, "Scarlet Queen," Chloé thinks that her classmate is glorifying her superhero identity in his latest creations. She's very disappointed when she checks the artwork he's posted on the school blog and learns it's actually the opposite.
      • In "Frightningale," despite Clara Nightingale explicitly stating that the auditions are for Marigold and extras, Chloé still shows up expecting to be cast as Scarlet Lady in the music video. Afterwards, Koki Marina protects Scarlet Lady from Frightningale's surprise attack, but Scarlet Lady just accuses the Turtle heroine of "stealing her moment" without acknowledging how Koki Marina just saved her butt.
      • Chloé thanks her half-sister in "Malediktator" when the latter awkwardly notes how alike Chloé and Audrey are. She doesn't seem to have realized that Zoé didn't mean that as a compliment.
    • Both Alya and Max do this in "The Gamer" when they fail to comprehend the way tryouts for the Ultimate Mecha Strike III tournament work. Alya attempts to call Marinette out for only showing interest in the tournament to spend time with Adrien since representing the school is apparently Serious Business. Marinette points out that her best friend didn't even know about the competition until five minutes ago and that since only the two students with the highest scores in tryouts will be chosen to move on to the actual tournament, she would only get a spot by proving she's the best to represent the school and earning one fairly. She then proceeds to mop the floor with Max in tryouts, which causes him to get akumatized into Gamer. While undergoing akumatization, he expresses his frustration with being beaten by Marinette and not being selected to represent his school in the tournament because of her, even though, as Hawkmoth and others later remind him, he lost to two people, not just her. To his credit, he does have a Jerkass Realization about this after being deakumatized and apologizes to Marinette for it.
    • Rose tries to reason with Reflekta, telling the akuma that she knows she's really Juleka and that the people she's attacking didn't do anything to her. Reflekta takes this as a prompt to first go after Chloé, the one who initially wronged her.
    • Nadja shows up at the bakery in "Timebreaker" and finds it closed, so she phones Tom to demand that she immediately be given the cake she ordered. When Tom points out she's twenty minutes early, Nadja simply responds, "Yeah, and?"
    • Ondine get akumatized into Syren out of jealousy of Kim's apparent crush on Chloé after hearing him mention that his entire class made plans to go see a movie and that even Chloé will be there. The truth, however, is that Kim doesn't like Chloé at all and sincerely hopes she won't be there.
    • Mme. Bustier is prone to this due to being a Misplaced Kindergarten Teacher:
    • She declares in "Zombizou" that Marinette just has to work harder at "setting a good example" and brushes over everything Marinette says about how her teacher's punishing her by giving Chloé credit for all of her hard work.
      • While she's correct that nobody can be forced to improve, Caline fails to comprehend that there still need to be consequences for bad behavior. Her refusal to punish Chloé or other bullies at all not only enables them, it outright encourages them—there's no reason not to misbehave when they know their teacher won't lift a finger against them and will just lecture their victims instead about how they need to "set a good example" and "be more forgiving."
      • After Zombizou is defeated and she's freed from Hawkmoth's control, she blames herself for giving into her negative emotions. Marigold and Chat Noir point out that by that logic, the majority of her students are also "evil," reassuring her that there's nothing wrong with being frustrated or having a Moment of Weakness. Caline completely ignores the lesson.
      • At the end of "Zombizou," Caline tells Scarlet Lady that Chloé's "friends" (namely Adrien and Sabrina) aren't being very nice to her right now, showing that even after Chat Noir and Marigold's speech about how normal negative feelings are, she still doesn't understand that Chloé is the one driving everyone away through her toxicity and selfishness and that coddling her doesn't help anybody.
    • When Jagged heavily protests against Bob Roth's idea of doing a duet with XY, Penny tries to reason with Bob, pointing out that a duet between the two probably wouldn't work due to them having such wildly different styles of music. The record executive replies that everything will be fine once Jagged modernizes his music, finds a new style, and changes everything about himself (namely to conform to XY's style), thus defeating the whole point of a collaboration. Jagged promptly swears at his producer.
    • When Marinette asks Adrien in "Despair Bear" if he knew why the party guests seemed so down as they were leaving, he theorizes that it was because the party ended early. The actual reason (for the vast majority of them) is that they are all in shock after witnessing Scarlet Lady's true nature firsthand (the next episode reveals that Adrien and Marinette didn't notice due to having already gotten used to the Ladybug heroine's antics).
    • Alya and her friends team up in order to beat Nora's blatantly unfair challenge in "Anansi" while telling her that they're stronger together and can keep each other safe. Nora just gets upset by them "cheating," leading to her akumatization and Anansi subsequently trying to "prove her point" by deliberately isolating Alya.
    • After watching Alya's video in "The Mime," Marinette fails to realize it shows Chat Noir and Marigold acting like the trues heroes of Paris in contrast to Nominal Heroine Scarlet Lady. Granted, this has previously been explained as being due to Marinette having gotten used to Scarlet Lady's selfish antics.
    • Even after Ivan calls him out on letting the party in "Party Crasher" get completely out of hand, Kim just thinks that means the guys haven't been having fun.
    • In "Malediktator," Audrey seemingly wasn't paying attention when Chloé told André that she and Audrey will be going to New York. She later yells at her daughter when their helicopter doesn't take them to Audrey's office, at which point Chloé reminds her mother that they were actually on their way to the airport.
  • Dropping the Bombshell: At the end of "Copycat":
Adrien: Is that Théo?! What is he doing [at school]?!
    Nino: Dude, he goes here.
  • Dude, She's Like in a Coma: When Ms. Bustier tells her students about how kisses in fairy tales break spells through the power of love, Max contradicts this by pointing out that, in most cases, the kisses are done without the kissed person's consent.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?:
    • Chat Noir would just like some simple acknowledgement for his help in stopping the akumas, thank you very much. Too bad that Scarlet Lady tends to push all the work on him, then take advantage of his subsequent exhaustion to claim all the credit. Ironically, when Scarlet Lady describes her beloved Adrien to Théo as someone "beloved by all of Paris," he naturally assumes that she's talking about Chat Noir, and that he naturally gets that kind of acceptance because of his heroism. Fortunately, this begins to change for the better for Chat, with it being revealed at the end of "Troublemaker" that he's neck and neck with Scarlet Lady in the popularity polls. By the end of "Prime Queen," he's likely already surpassed her.
    • A rare case where the above roles are flipped occurs in "Guitar Villain." Scarlet Lady saves Théo, and he thanks Chat Noir for it.
  • Duel Boss: Pixelator is able to successfully trap Chloé and Adrien with his pictures, forcing Marigold to deal with him one on one.
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Sabrina sports these in "Darkblade," a sign that she she hasn't forgiven or forgotten Chloé's actions in the previous episode.
  • Dye Hard: In-Universe, Adrien temporarily dyes his hair lime green in "The Bubbler" as a form of rebellion against his dad. He considers doing pink or blue in "Captain Hardrock" after Gabriel forbids him from going to Kitty Section's concert. By "Anansi," Adrien has already amassed an entire collection of hair dyes, and he threatens to dye his hair pink if he isn't allowed to hang out with his friends.
