  • Take a Third Option:
    • During "La Befana," when Befana asks if Chloé wants to protect or punish Marinette, Chloé responds with an apathetic "I don't care". This actually baffles Befana's moral judgement, allowing Chloé to escape unharmed.
    • Near the end of "Queen Wasp," Master Fu tells Marinette that becoming the new holder of the Ladybug Miraculous means she would have to return the Bee Miraculous to him because she can't use both all the time, but Marinette argues that she doesn't want to be separated from Pollen. Fu ultimately allows Marinette to keep the Bee Miraculous and lend it out whenever it is needed.
  • Take the Wheel: In "The Gamer," Marinette holds the game mecha steady while Chat Noir uses the Lucky Charm against the villain, a role-reversal from the original. Her Chekhov's Skill with the game still works in this version, even more so because Chat Noir knows Marinette has demonstrated the skill. (Chloé had attempted this earlier, only to be shown having no skill at it whatsoever when Gamer gives them a Nonlethal KO.)
  • Talking Is a Free Action:
    • Played With when Reflekta shoots the wall next to Scarlet Lady while she's bragging about how she 'got Chloé to safety' and declares that "Next time, I won't miss."
    • Timebreaker averts this. When Scarlet Lady starts yelling at Marinette for recording her, Timebreaker takes the chance to tag her in the back.
    • Averted again when Chat Noir quickly attacks a brainwashed Mayor Bourgeois in "Kung Food" while he's in the middle of announcing his arrival.
    • Riposte defies this again, attacking while Marigold's back is turned to her while she's checking on Adrien.
    • The aversion of this trope is generally a Running Gag, with the character attacking sometimes saying "An opening!"
  • Team Spirit: The friends and classmates of Alix pull together to try to find a way to fix her broken watch in "Timebreaker" (unaware of the one-of-a-kind nature of said watch).
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: The only reason Chat Noir works with Scarlet Lady is so that she can use Lucky Charm to fix everything at the end of a battle; otherwise, they're constantly at each other's throats.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • Chat Noir's first line in the comic is a declaration of how awesome being a superhero is going to be, not knowing what his partner will be like.
    • When Chloé announces that she'll fight Stormy Weather without too much prodding from Tikki, the Kwami thinks that even Chloé can be selfless... only for Chloé to announce why she's fighting Stormy Weather: for ruining Chloé's "date" with Adrien. Tikki immediately rescinds her statement.
    • In "Rogercop," when Plagg explains why Adrien can't transform, Adrien says, "Ugh, you're so lucky there's no akuma or I'd be really mad." The panel's tagline even asks, "Why do you tempt fate like this?" Later, upon seeing Rogercop, Adrien declares himself "a total jinx." Plagg gets "misty" and declares Adrien "a true black cat."
    • Chat Noir when he prepares to fight Darkblade:
Chat Noir: At least Marinette isn't in the middle of this akuma.
      Narration: Wrong!
    • In a bonus panel of "Timebreaker," Marinette thinks she won't get caught in the middle of an akuma and will be back at the bakery early for Nadja. The original timeline shows her being involved with Timebreaker and Nadja showing up at the bakery 20 minutes before the agreed time.
    • Right after Adrien comments he never sees his father in "The Collector," he opens the doors to find Gabriel waiting for him.
    • In "The Collector," when Lila says she won't return to school because Scarlet Lady destroyed her social life before it even started, Marinette asks if Lila thinks she can trick her Mom and miss a whole year of school. Lila simply responds, "You underestimate my power." Subverted, as Lila ultimately doesn't go through with it and even attends Marinette's birthday with the rest of her class in "La Befana."
    • In "Kung Food," Marinette finds comfort that at least her uncle can appreciate the bouquet she got him but then panics when he starts "destroying" it. Subverted, because everyone who watched the canon episode knows he actually plans on using the flowers as a soup ingredient.
    • In "Vanisher," when Ms. Mendeleiev cancels the class once it becomes apparent that there's an akuma around, at least one person is glad... until she adds that she'll be grading everyone harder to make up for it.
    • Anarka says everything goes on her boat in "Captain Hardrock." She changes her mind once Chloé shows up.
  • There Are No Therapists: "Horrificator" implies that Mylène has actual post-traumatic stress disorder from her experience with Stoneheart, but the closest thing she gets to therapy is using her lullaby to calm down.
  • Thinking Out Loud: In "Dark Cupid" Alya hears Marinette talking with Pollen in the bathroom (though she can't make out the words). Thinking Marinette is talking to herself, Alya says to herself, "You sure have strange ways of dealing with bad news, girl."
  • This Is Gonna Suck:
    • A common reaction from the heroes and their allies (at least those who know what the Ladybug heroine's really like) when Scarlet Lady makes her presence known during a fight:
      • When the class runs into her in "Horrificator":
        The class: Scarlet Lady!
        Alya: You're here too?!
Marinette and Chat Noir: [sighing] Greeeeat...
      • Marinette as Maotif pulls a Big Damn Heroes to save Scarlet Lady... who isn't exactly grateful:
        Scarlet Lady: WHO ARE YOU!?
Maotif: Oh yeah, you come with the job.
      • Chat Noir is quite confident he can take on both Dark Cupid and a corrupted Marigold. However, Scarlet Lady then arrives, causing him to lament, "Well, there goes my odds." Suprisingly, he turns out to be wrong this time, as Scarlet Lady actually ends up pulling her weight due to the Humiliation Conga she's received all day on account of the akuma.
    • Instead of being impressed by Volpina's flashy entrance, Chat groans at the prospect of having to deal with two Attention Whores as fellow "heroes."
    • In a flashback in "Vanisher," upon seeing Chloé clearly about to crash his interview, Jagged Stone irately grumbles "Aw, man."
    • Adrien's reaction when Scarlet Lady shows up at his window in "Glaciator" after he was seemingly offered a Scarlet Lady cone from André the ice cream maker earlier.
      Scarlet Lady: Mon prince~
      Adrien: [frowning] Oh, no.
    • Luka and Juleka seeing their parents about to get akumatized:
Juleka and Luka: [sighing] Happy birthday to us.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: As far as Marinette's concerned, Scarlet Lady proves she's a lost cause in "Princess Fragrance" when she lets a sick Tikki fall into the hands of someone who clearly doesn't care for her well-being to get her medical treatment: Chloé. It's The Last Straw for Marigold, who later talks to Chat Noir about taking Scarlet Lady's Miraculous.
  • This Means War!: Kitty Section's reaction to XY plagiarizing their music.
Marinette: Oh you hack frauds are dead.
  • Threat Backfire: in "Timebreaker" Scarlet Lady taunts the two Chat Noirs that they will need to beg her to help them. Both of them agree it would be best if she stayed out of the fight.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: "Mr. Pigeon" ends with Xavier finding an unexpected friend in Marianne, who introduces him to a rooftop sanctuary for pigeons where he can feed and tend to them to his heart's content.
  • Time Skip: The web comic often skips over material that would be similar to canon. For example in "Riposte" when the akuma villain tells Adrien "This won't take long!" the reader is supposed to remember that in canon Hawk Moth instructed her to go after the Miraculous heroes first, and that she told Adrien to wait there patiently for their "rematch". Scarlet Lady gets the implication that Riposte thinks she will be easy to beat and retorts, "Rude!"
  • Title Drop: "Crocoduel" is subtitled, "Tales of You Two Again?!"; when Hawk Moth reakumatizes Jagged and Anarka, he asks, "What? You two again?"
  • Too Dumb to Live: Manon, maybe you shouldn’t have told the supervillain that hates Mireille's guts that you voted for Mireille?
  • Took a Level in Badass:
    • Most of the teens who become heroes after receiving a Miraculous. Downplayed with Chloé when she becomes Scarlet Lady, as she usually just summons Lucky Charm without doing any of the actual fighting. Also played with regarding Marinette, who already became a badass prior to becoming Marigold when she underwent gùn training with her mother to better protect herself against akumas.
    • Adrien soon grows out of his Extreme Doormat personality and becomes more rebellious due to dealing with both his restrictive lifestyle and annoyance towards Scarlet Lady. This leads to him cussing out Nathalie when she tries to keep him from going to school, dying his hair green when Gabriel kicks Nino out of his house for being "fashion trash," leaving a message about helping himself to croissants (defying his strict model's diet) for his father when Gabriel doesn't show up for Career Day, and stealing the book from his father's safe without Plagg needing to convince him. He also displays more of a backbone when dealing with Chloé's antics and Lila's lies.
  • Took a Level in Smartass:
    • As a coping mechanism for dealing with Scarlet Lady, Adrien and Tikki quickly become far snarkier than they are in canon.
    • Post-Heel–Face Turn, Lila drops her compulsive lying in favor of Brutal Honesty, which often results in them being a Deadpan Snarker.
    • Sabrina, too, gradually makes more snarky comments at Chloé due to getting increasingly fed up with latter's abuse. She continues this after cutting ties with Chloé for good, such as reminding Chloé that she has the same perfume as Rose when Chloé claims that Rose's perfume smells like rotten fish.
  • Trademark Favorite Food:
    • Tikki insists on only getting her chocolate fix through cookies, specifically cookies from Tom Dupain and Sabine Cheng's bakery.
    • Plagg favors cheese, particularly of the Camembert variant. One of the reasons he finds out about Chloé being Scarlet Lady is because he sees Chloé putting a box into her bag, and its shape reminds him of a Camembert wheel, leading to him flying into Chloé's purse and discovering Tikki inside.
    • Much to Marinette's shock, Pollen's favorite is chili peppers. (What else would bring someone down to their knees?)
  • The Troublemaker: Chloe/Scarlet Lady (though she refuses to believe it) is this in both her civilian and hero identities. Chloe is a spoiled Alpha Bitch who uses her money or her father's position as mayor to get/get away with whatever she wants, while Scarlet Lady is a Nominal Hero who only does any hero work for the praise and attention. As either identity, she's often the one to screw everything up for everyone else by being either an oblivious idiot or being rude/vandalizing something for her own pleasure. Her classmates despise her, but put up with her in class and at class events because Ms. Bustier wants everyone to feel included. Chat Noir (and later Marigold) detest Scarlet Lady (and eventually so does the rest of Paris), but they put up with her because her Lucky Charm and Miraculous Ladybug are necessary to help in fights and repair any damage done by akumas. By the end of Queen Wasp, however, she's forced to face how much she's Hated by All after her Miraculous is taken away and no one stands up for her.
  • True Companions: With the obvious exception of Chloé, Bustier's class are all good friends and will go right to bat to help each other when they're in trouble. Best shown in a bonus panel for "Timebreaker," where they all start to work together on an idea on how to fix Alix's broken watch.
  • True Love's Kiss: Max deconstructs this idea at the beginning of "Dark Cupid" in relation to fairy tales when he points out that only 32% of said kisses are consensual.
  • Turns Red: There is an expectation of total victory when Hawkmoth's cane is destroyed by Chat Noir, ending the power boost he got from Catalyst. But somehow, three people who were turned by Queen Wasp remain under her control (though without akuma powers), a shocking exception to No Ontological Inertia for the villain's power. Vesperia cries out, "What's going on?!" The author says in the end notes, "you have no idea how badly I wanted this page to land on a Friday for Maximum Over the Weekend Cliffhanger effect TT^TT".
  • Two-Person Love Triangle: Marinette has feelings for both Adrien and Chat Noir, not realizing they're one and the same. Adrien feels the same about Marinette, but treats his new bee-heroine partner Marigold with cool professionalism; he does soon warm up to her but still only sees her as a friend. It seems to be an inversion of the canonical two-person love square. It gets more complicated in "Dark Cupid," when Adrien's asked about a love poem he just wrote. He panics and says it's for Marigold when he really meant to give it to Marinette as Chat Noir. By the end of the episode, he starts to develop a small crush on Marigold... before scolding and reminding himself he's in love with Marinette.

    U
  • The Unfavorite: While it was implied in the original episode, "Timebreaker" confirms by way of Suspiciously Specific Denial that Mr. Kubdel deliberately passed Jalil over to give the watch to Alix instead.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: Chat Noir pushes Scarlet Lady out of the way of an attack by the Bubbler. She thanks him by yelling at him for messing up her hair.
  • Unintentional Backup Plan:
    • Scarlet Lady tries to knockout Pixelator by throwing the Lucky Charm compact mirror at him. She misses due to bad aim, but the compact's projectile path results in it being at just the right height and angle to reflect Pixelator's beam right back at him.
    • Hawk Moth was originally going to akumatize Marinette in "Troublemaker" due to her embarrassment and panic at having her room (which contains evidence of her crush on Chat Noir) filmed and broadcasted on live TV. However, Penny ends up getting overwhelmed with her responsibilities and reaches her Rage Breaking Point at around the same time, leading to her akumatization instead. He's quite relieved about this, as he knows any harm coming to Marinette will push Chat Noir's Berserk Button.
    • Similarly, in "Zombizou," Hawk Moth decides to akumatize Marinette over her anger at having her present for Ms. Bustier ruined by Chloé despite knowing the risks. However, after Marinette succeeds in venting out most of her frustrations by giving Ms. Bustier a long "The Reason You Suck" Speech, leaving the latter vulnerable to akumatization, Hawk Moth decides that it would be marginally less risk to make Ms. Bustier an akuma instead.
  • Unlimited Wardrobe: Unlike the series, Marinette and her classmates wear new clothes every new episode, and in some cases (like Ayla) even different hairstyles.
  • The Unmasking:
    • Narrowly subverted at the start of "Vanisher" by pure luck. If Chloé had addressed Tikki by name during her morning complaint monologue, the invisible akuma would have heard, and Hawk Moth would have learned Scarlet Lady's secret identity. Tikki also flies off right away to warn Master Fu, avoiding being seen by Vanisher.
    • Very close to happening in "Vanisher." Adrien decides to go ask Master Fu about what to do about the akuma; he ends up coming across Tikki, who explains that Scarlet Lady is unable to transform. Chat Noir later notes that the akuma has a grudge that would motivate her to make Chloé vanish, but not random other people. It's not clear whether the Kwami mentioned that her holder was vanished by an akuma, but regardless, neither Chat Noir nor Master Fu seems to find Scarlet's absence strange, likely brushing it off as her usual laziness.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom:
    • Fu's decision to slip the box with the earrings into Marinette's purse unintentionally kicks off the whole AU, since Chloé finds and steals it while trying to "punish" Marinette for not being properly cowed.
    • In "Rogercop," Tikki irritably kicks Plagg out of Chloé's purse... and, in the process, knocks him into Chloé's bracelet. This not only sets the episode's plot into motion but causes poor Marinette to trip over him.
    • In "Syren," Kim casually mentions Chloé in passing to Ondine as he's leaving the pool, right before she was about to confess to him. This causes Ondine to incorrectly assume he has a crush on Chloé, triggering her akumatization.
    • Nadja not believing Manon when she claims Marinette let her have the Lady Wifi doll leads to the girl's akumatization.

    V
  • Vague Age: Luka apparently enjoys invoking this. In "Intermission," Luka says he's Juleka's older brother but refuses to be more specific than that about his age even when asked by Lila. This gets brought up again in "Crocoduel" when Lila asks how old he's turning, to which he replies, "one year older than last year." Lila later declares that, if Luka and Juleka have their birthday on the same day, they must be twins, but he points out they might instead be "born on the same day years apart." He later seemingly admits defeat when Lila realizes that they have to be twins if they're both Jagged's kids, though he privately snarks that Lila still doesn't know how old he and Juleka are.
  • Villain Has a Point: After finally realizing that Marinette really isn't Scarlet Lady, Lady Wifi decides to steal the Ladybug earrings and give them to her friend, proclaiming that Marinette would make the perfect hero. Chat Noir admits that that's not a bad idea. Then there's the fact that the earrings were originally meant to be Marinette's anyways.
  • Villain Respect: Played With; Gabriel stubbornly insists that Scarlet Lady is a wily and dangerous opponent, because the alternative would mean admitting that he's being outmatched by an idiot.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Scarlet Lady knows how to work the media and play to the public, making herself look better at the expense of others, especially her poor partner Chat Noir, whom she paints as someone she has to "clean up after." This gradually changes as Chat Noir gets more popular and the more people become aware of what she's really more.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend:
    • Alright, they aren't an actual couple, but Marinette (both as a civilian and as Marigold) is more than ready to punch the daylights out of any villain in order to help Chat Noir.
    • Penny Rolling may just be Jagged's assistant, but when Vincent gets too close to Jagged, she is all too ready to beat the daylights out of the guy (Battle Aura included).
    • Juleka punches out a zombie trying to kiss Rose in "Zombizou."

    W
  • Wall of Text:
    • Sabrina's thought bubbles are like this when she undergoes Heroic BSoD after seeing her "best friend" getting her father fired in "Rogercop."
    • When Reflekta first appears, the panel behind her is filled with text, as is the next one with Alya and Nino listening in shock. It lampshades the overwhelming nature of her monologues.
  • We Need a Distraction: Scarlet Lady actually inverts this during "The Gamer" by getting his attention and leading him right towards Chat and Marinette.
  • We Win, Because You Didn't: The Puppeteer needs the Miraculous heroes' dolls made by Marinette to control them. Scarlet Lady saves herself from being controlled by destroying her doll.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Marinette would like to point out to the Bubbler that, while she agrees with his motives, she doesn't support his methods.
  • Wham Episode:
    • "Reflekta," Part 10. Plagg passes the Cat Miraculous to Marinette, who uses it to transform into a superhero.
    • "Vanisher," Part 8. Marinette receives the Bee Miraculous to become Marigold.
    • "Prime Queen" has 3 moments:
      • Part 9. Marigold confesses her feelings for Chat Noir.
      • Part 10. Scarlet Lady unwittingly shows her true colors by stating she has no problem in letting Alya die since she can bring her back—while all of Paris watches the "show."
      • Part 12. Chat Noir not only tells Marigold that he's in love with Marinette (unaware that they're the same person) but also that he knows her as his civilian self.
    • "Zombizou," Part 15. When all hope seems lost, a desperate Marigold unlocks a new power and a new suit.
    • "The Mime," Part 8. Mylène debuts as a Miraculous heroine—with the power of the Dog Miraculous.
    • "Style Queen," Part 13. Marigold and Adrien finally overtly acknowledge each other's secret identity, and the two have their first kiss.
    • "Queen Wasp" is filled with these:
      • Part 4. In an attempt to impress her mother, Chloé transforms into Scarlet Lady and reveals her identity in front of everyone.
      • Part 7. Thinking that Zoé, her half-sister and last ally, has betrayed her, Chloé ends up throwing the box containing the Ladybug earrings at her sister before shutting her out, right before an akuma butterfly arrives in her room.
      • Part 13. Marinette finally reclaims the Ladybug Miraculous as Marigold and unifies it with the Bee Miraculous to become Ladygold.
      • Part 18. Master Fu tells Marinette to hand over the Bee comb so she can wield the Ladybug earrings, though he agrees to let her instead hang onto both and lend the comb out as she sees fit when she protests against being separated from Pollen.
  • Wham Line:
    • On the second page of "Vanisher," when the class is shown an announcement from Mayor Bourgeois that Chloé is missing, even though she's just arrived at school:
Chloé: Huh? What's he on about, I'm right—
Max: Wait, she's not just absent?
Nathaniel: I thought it was quiet today.
    • On the third page, Vanisher says, "After all, you can't interact with the real world," which reveals that every physical thing that Chloé had handled so far that day, from getting dressed to slamming open a door, were just things that the akuma "vanished" for her or did for her. As the author says in the end notes, "Vanisher is such a little prankster god that anytime Chloé approached a door handle SHE'D open it just to prolong Chloé's confusion because she'd figure it out pretty quick if she was stuck in her room."
    • Downplayed, but near the end of "Captain Hardrock," Rose admits during her performance that she's dating Juleka.
    • At the end of "Princess Fragrance," Marigold drops one hell of a bombshell:
Marigold: We need to talk about taking the earrings from Scarlet Lady.
    • In "Despair Bear," Adrien decides that Chloé's latest stunt is the last straw and makes clear what he thinks of her:
Adrien: We're done, Chloé! We're not friends anymore!
    • A conversation between Juleka and Penny in "Desperada" reveals that the Couffaine children are secretly aware that Jagged Stone is their father.
    • In "Ikari Gozen," as Ryuko duels the titular akuma, she attempts to call her mother out for not letting Kagami have friends, only for it to turn out that Tomoe has a reason for not wanting her daughter to have any friends beyond simply being strict:
Ikari Gozen: Friends only betray you, abandon you! Like mine did when I went blind!
    • In "Prime Queen," after Marigold admits that she's in love with Chat Noir to save Lila from the speeding train, we get this exchange:
Chat Noir: Good thinking with that lie, Goldie!
      Marigold: Superheroes don't lie, Chaton.
    • Later in "Prime Queen," Chat Noir drops two bombs while trying to let Marigold down:
Chat Noir: It'd be easy to fall for you, but... but I'm already in love with Marinette Dupain-Cheng!
      [...]
Chat Noir: But since I see her everyday as "myself," I can't just forget her!
  • Wham Shot:
    • Plagg flies over to Chloé's purse in "Rogercop" searching for camembert... only to find Tikki munching away on a cookie instead, thus revealing Scarlet Lady's secret identity.
    • Sabrina making the "Surprised Pikachu face" in response to Chloé ordering Mayor André to fire Roger. After having put up with so much abuse, her regard for her "best friend" Chloé has finally been permanently damaged.
    • Marigold's debut in "Vanisher," which takes up three panels.
    • "Prime Queen" has quite a big one. When the villain is threatening to drop Alya into the Seine, Scarlet Lady says she doesn't care if Alya dies because she can just bring her back after winning the fight. The next panel shows many people watching this on their phones and tablets, as Scar had apparently forgotten that she's on live TV, meaning she has ruined her reputation even further.
    • From "Zombizou": With the titular akuma seemingly about to win, a panicking Marigold starts glowing. In the last two panels, we end up treated to her upgraded outfit and her using a new ability, "Bee Balm."
    • From "Gorizilla," Part 1: It's implied Gabriel may have realized Adrien is Chat Noir.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The author tries to avert this by giving follow-ups to victims of akumatization who didn't get followed up on before the episode's end in canon, as well as changing the plot slightly. For example, in "Stormy Weather," the contest turns out to have been rigged, and Aurore and Mireille become co-weather girls. "Evillustrator" also shows Nathaniel being embarrassed the next day over having asked Marinette on a date while akumatized. However, this trope still sometimes happens with the people who became the episode's akuma, though in such cases, they're usually minor characters who didn't get followed up on in canon anyway, so it can be assumed that they recovered from their ordeals offscreen.
    • After the titular akuma is defeated in "Simon Says," the Victim of the Week isn't seen again.
    • "Party Crasher" has Wayhem believing that Adrien excluded him from a party, which doesn't get resolved onscreen; the author admitted that she completely forgot since she was more focused on including multiple heroes and the episode was already getting longer than usual.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Chloé often finds herself on the receiving end of this from Tikki, Chat, and others. Not that she cares.
      • After Chloé gets Alya suspended simply because the latter suspected Marinette was Scarlet Lady:
Tikki: Chloé, what you did to Alya was unacceptable!
Chloé: Buzz off, would ya? She brought it on herself.
      • Tikki gets particularly frustrated with her for how bluntly she rejected Théo after the statue unveiling:
Tikki: Are you proud of how you treated that young man?! And after he said so many nice things! That you don't deserve!
        Chloé: Ughhhhh, let it gooo...
      • Chat Noir yells "Scar, what the HELL?!" after his so-called partner leads Gamer right to them. Scarlet feigns innocence, despite how she actually wanted to get Marinette zapped.
      • "Timebreaker" has Marinette call Scarlet out on refusing to engage in the fight, declaring that "if I can see you, then so can my phone which is recording you ignoring the akuma!"
      • In "Simon Says," Scarlet Lady gets two in a row from Chat Noir: first for trying to impress Gabriel when there's a hypnotized army to worry about, and second for running and abandoning civilians (including Adrien, she believes), letting them get captured by the villain's forces.
      • In "Volpina," Scarlet Lady is called out by Adrien for throwing Lila into a fountain and also questioned about it by Alya. She resorts to an I Did What I Had to Do excuse, claiming that publicly outing Lila as not being her BFF would protect her from Hawk Moth.
      • Volpina's utterly taken aback when Scarlet blows off her threat to destroy a building, casually stating that she'll just bring everyone inside back after winning. The faux fox recoils in disgust, declaring to the Evil Heroine, "You really are a villain!" She does this again when Scarlet blows off her threat to drop an illusion of Adrien to their death, saying that she'll either catch them or bring them back afterwards.
Scarlet Lady: [with a wicked grin] Do it.
Volpina: Gawd, what is wrong with you?!
      • Nino recalls in "Queen Wasp" how less that a week ago, Chloé (who has just outed herself as Scarlet Lady) tried to leave Paris. This leads to everyone around realizing that she would have gladly left the city to Hawkmoth's mercy, calling her out, and demanding she give up the Ladybug Miraculous.
    • During "Horrificator," Alya, Adrien, and Ivan all call out Nino for adding a kiss scene. Alya's annoyed that he altered her script without telling her, while Adrien and Ivan are more concerned with the fact that he didn't get the actors' permission beforehand or warn them about it. Immediately following this, he gets called out again for suggesting that Chloé should sub in for Mylène, since she is supposed to be her understudy. Given that she chased Mylène off in the first place, nobody else is keen to reward her cruelty by handing her precisely what she wants.
    • When Alya informs Marinette's father that Chloé dragged Marinette off to Rogercop, he's furious that she didn't try to stop them. Alya retorts that he didn't, either.
    • Parodied in "The Gamer" when Alya accuses Marinette of only joining the tourney to flirt with Adrien, only for Marinette to point out how irrational she's being.
      Alya: You better be joking!
      Marinette: Uh, no?
Alya: This tournament is to choose who's representing our school, not an excuse to flirt!
Marinette: Flirt...? You sure are fired up about something you learned about five minutes ago.
      Alya: This is SUPER. SERIOUS!
Marinette: Hey, by virtue of how tournaments work, won't I only earn that spot by being the best to represent us?
    • "The Collector" opens with Master Fu rebuking Plagg for bringing Adrien to his shop. Adrien then turns things right back around on the Guardian upon realizing that he's the one who chose Scarlet... or so he thinks.
    • Scarlet Lady for once rightfully calls out Marigold for causing Adrien to get hurt due to not paying attention to their surroundings. Marigold immediately apologizes to Adrien for this.
    • In "Syren," both Master Fu and Marigold are shocked when Chat Noir decides to bring her to meet him without getting permission to reveal the Guardian's existence first.
    • Marinette calls Mme. Bustier out when she insists that Marinette should forgive Chloé for her vandalizing: all forgiving Chloé does is tell her that she can get away with anything.
  • What Were You Thinking?: Tikki's word-for-word reaction in "Queen Wasp" to Chloé publicly outing herself as Scarlet Lady.
  • What You Are in the Dark: Scarlet Lady reveals her true colors in "Prime Queen" when she states she has no problem with letting Alya die when the akuma threatens to drown the latter while forgetting that all of Paris is watching the confrontation.
  • Win-Win Ending: At the end of "Stormy Weather," Aurore and Mireille resolve the matter of the contest by becoming co-weather girls.
  • Won't Take "Yes" for an Answer: Downplayed example with Chloé and Tikki when the latter says the former has to get the book Adrien and Lila have.
Chloé: So, what you're saying is, I have to spy on her and Adrien?
    Tikki: Yes! Follow them!
Chloé: Wait, Seriously? I mean, I definitely was going to, but...
  • World of Snark: Many characters have several Deadpan Snarker moments. Just about everyone has no patience for Chloé/Scarlet Lady’s behavior, so her antics are often the subject.
  • Worth It:
    • In "Horrificator," it's implied that Horrificator was mute because Mylène kept sassing Hawkmoth. The tags imply that this was her opinion about it.
    • In "Darkblade," it's revealed that the reason Jagged helped out with Chloé's campaign in the first place was because he owed Bob Roth a favor after Fang ruined the producer's car. His response when Penny reminds him of this is this trope.
    • In "Vanisher," Marinette thinks it was worth staying up all night in order to make bee-themed accessories to give to her friends, claiming that the new hero inspired her; the actual reason is so no one will suspect her identity as Marigold from seeing her wearing the bee comb.

  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are:
    • When Lila is about to give up on school when her lies are exposed, Marinette encourages her to come back, saying, "You're not as alone as you think." Marinette also shares how they despise Scarlet Lady (a surprise to Lila since she only heard that before as Volpina and thus doesn't remember) and says they would pick Lila over Scarlet Lady any day.
    • When Marinette starts spiraling in "Style Queen" over her bowler's hat being judged by Audrey Bourgeois, both Pollen and Adrien tell Marinette not to doubt herself and that her hat is great the way it is. Gabriel deemed it the winning design in his contest for a reason, after all.
  • You Are Grounded!: "The Collector" sees Gabriel grounding Adrien as punishment for losing his book. He originally threatened to pull him out of school entirely, only for Adrien to point out how disastrously that could end for him PR-wise.
  • You Didn't Ask: Adrien is caught in an awkward situation in "The Collector" when he finds Marinette explaining to Gabriel that she already returned the lost book to Adrien. He saves himself by producing the book (which he just got back from Master Fu) and corroborating Marinette's account. When his father challenges him for an explanation, Adrien asks, "Would you have listened?"
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!:
    • Chat Noir reacts this way a couple times in "Origins" when Scarlet Lady claims all the credit after pushing all the hard work on him.
    • When Tom tells Marinette to stop and let the adults handle things in "Rogercop"... only for all the adults present to be utterly unhelpful. Naturally, Marinette responds this way when she calls him out on it.
    • Chat Noir is incredulous that Chloé actually got herself and Marinette voluntarily kidnapped by Rogercop.
    • Chat reacts this way when Volpina takes an illusion of Adrien as her hostage.
    • Nathalie's response when she's attacked by The Collector:
    Nathalie: M. Agreste... the #$%@.
    • When Chloé declares Adrien the winner in his bout against Kagami, D'Argencourt accepts it without a second thought, proclaiming it as a "clear victory" for his fencing school. Marinette stares at him in disbelief, as D'Argencourt had repeatedly ignored her when she tried to inform him of rule breakages in the bout and instead took the Chloé's blatantly biased opinion.
    • In "Captain Hardrock," everyone onboard the Liberty has this reaction when they realize Chloé filed a noise complaint against them before they'd played a single note.
    • Hawk Moth says, "... Really?!" when it turns out Animan is angry because Kim claimed to be faster than his panther. Chat Noir, Marigold, and Scarlet Lady have similar reactions when they learn the same thing.
    • Marigold and Chat Noir both yell, "Seriously?!" when they realize that Scarlet Lady got possessed by Despair Bear after doing nothing but ordering them around and making them do all the work.
    • Alya has this reaction in "Anansi" when she sees that Nora got akumatized over not wanting Alya to go out due to akumas and losing against Alya and her friends in arm wrestling.
    • Chat Noir, Scarlet Lady, and Marigold all say this in unison when Prime Queen appears and declares that the heroes "disappointed their fans" by refusing to admit that ChatGold was real. Lila has a very similar reaction when she sees herself onscreen as Prime Queen moves to take her hostage.
    • Alya says this during the denouement of "Prime Queen" after finding out that she's been invited by Nadja to appear on the latter's new show, Side by Side. Lila's reaction is much the same.
Lila: All that melodrama over her dumb show being cancelled, and they just handed her a new one?!
    • Marinette's reaction when Mme. Bustier tells her to forgive Chloé for her vandalization of Marinette's present to the teacher.
    • Adrien and Marinette react this way in "Queen Wasp" to Chloé outing herself as Scarlet Lady.
  • Younger Than They Look: "Copycat" reveals that this is the case with Théo, who's actually the same age as Marinette and her classmates. It's hinted that this is being deliberately invoked with his goatee, with him protesting that it's the only reason his clients respect him.
  • Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: Max has a Jerkass Realization in "The Gamer" about his attitudes towards gaming after Scarlet Lady thanks him for exclusively targeting Marinette as an akuma even though both she and Adrien beat him.
  • Your Makeup Is Running: Chloé's tears after hearing that Adrien has been grounded are practically black from all the mascara she wears. A note on the comic by the creator questions why she's not using waterproof mascara.
  • Your Television Hates You:
    • After Gabriel changes his mind about allowing Adrien to attend the concert on the Liberty for the music festival, Adrien watches a TV program about the festival where Nadja declares, "You'd have to be a complete loser to miss it!"
    • Chloé spends Heroes' Day sulking at home over the recent end of her stint as Scarlet Lady. When she tries watching TV, all she sees are programs celebrating her hated "rivals" Chat Noir and Marigold while ignoring her "heroic" alter ego, who has already been quickly forgotten.
