  • Accidental Murder: When Mista confronts Clownpiece over the deaths of Rukia, Mlynar, and Kisuke, she admits that she wanted to share her Grimace Shake snack with them, thinking they could handle it. They couldn't. Her forcing it down their throats didn't help.
  • Actor Allusion: Plebian Garbage's Team Introduction begins with Kisuke commenting to Lee that they sound alike, with Lee agreeing and wonders if they were Separated at Birth. Their conversion is a nod to how they have the same voice actor.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: After Niko lands a mortal blow on Ratta with Wyrm's railgun, the dying Ratta asks Niko if the battle's over and that he can rest. At this moment he doesn't see an Ax-Crazy sentient tank that just killed almost every remaining contestant, he sees a sight he's very familiar with: a look of someone who's tired, utterly defeated, and has seen too much battle. So he chooses to console him by softly telling him that he can, with Ratta thanking him just before dying.
  • All According to Plan: Parodied; After Clownpiece drops the Las Vegas replica of the Statue of Liberty down close to several contestants, Kane gets crushed by it, with the only thing remaining of him is his arm, holding a note that reads 'This was NOT just as planned! Love, Kane'.
  • Amusingly Awful Aim: In the Bloodbath Blu Heavy fails to hit any of the Vahki that are attacking him. And keep in mind, he's firing a minigun. Even the Vahki themselves are somewhat confused.
  • An Arm and a Leg: When Niko gets to fire the disc-launcher, his shot hits one of Nidhiki's arms and reduces it to fragments.
  • And Then What?: When Father Grigori questions if the reason why everyone's been sent to the Arena is the work of something evil, Niko admits that after being attacked by a whole bunch of weird threats, he doesn't care about getting the wish and just wants to go home. This then prompts Grigori to ask him "And then what?", leading to a deep discussion between the two on how they would use the wish.
  • Animorphism: Charlotte on the first night gets bitten by a Basky Bug, which transforms her into an anthro hen.
    • In chapter 3 Vega also gets bitten by a Basky Bug, turning him into an anthro lynx. Vega is NOT happy about this, believing it made him look ugly.
  • Apocalypse How: The setting for the episode has the cast in a simulation of an U.S. that has fallen into complete ruin with it either being a Class 5 or Class 6 thanks to the Vahki eliminating all life in the country.
  • Ask a Stupid Question...: As Nidhiki and Krekka are watching Ogra, Destroyah, and Reisen fight each other, Krekka asks Nidhiki if they should be fighting back.
Nidhiki: "No, we should be asking that thing if it likes long walks on the beach. YES! We should fight back!"
  • Attack the Tail: As the Loch Ness Monster is chasing Retsuko, Ice Bear saves her by chopping the monster's tail with an ax.
    • In the Bloodbath the Loch Ness Terror bites down on Retsuko's tail, which causes Retsuko to let her rage out on the creature.
    • During the final fight Niko manages to grab Nezulla's tail, and cuts the tip of it off.
  • Back for the Dead: Neyla gets revived to participate in this Arena, and manages to make it to near the end of the penultimate chapter before she's killed again.
  • Battle in the Rain: The climax of the episode takes place in a stormy New York City that's nearly completely flooded.
  • The Berserker: In this episode we have Heracles, who spends his screentime in a state of frenzied Unstoppable Rage, attacking anyone that falls into his sight.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: For all of Nidhiki and Krekka's efforts to kill the contestants to obtain the wish, their forces fail to actually kill most of the contestants. It's Ratta, who is basically a third party, to achieve what they were struggling to do for four chapters in one by easily killing most of the remaining cast. And in the climax, They aren't even the final opponents. Nidhiki and Krekka are taken out just before the final fight between Niko and Nezulla.
  • Big "NO!": Nidhiki screams one when Niko's shot from his disc-launcher hits one of his arms and reduces it to fragments, which then either fall into the submerged city or embed themselves into the building.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": The first line the normally calm Reisen has is to yell a huge "SHUT UUUUUP!" to Clownpiece, having been driven mad by her over all the chaos she's causing.
  • Bilingual Bonus: When Robert warns Niko to stay away from Roberta, knowing the look in her eyes, Niko responds with "No kidding." in Serbian.
  • Blunt "No": After Clownpiece suddenly shows up alive and well at the very end despite being eliminated several chapters back, she explains it as her being immortal and asks if that means she wins, Baskerra shoots her down with "...no. Game's over. Everyone's going home."
  • Boom, Headshot!: In chapter 5 Hanzo shoots an arrow into the Medic's skull as he's focusing on how to replicate the different effects of the staffs the Vahki had.
    • As Ratta is charging at Colossus, Nidhiki and Krekka take potshots by firing several discs at Colossus' head, which knock him down and allows Ratta to smash his body by running him over.
    • When Nezulla kills Hanzo, it causes his body to fire an arrow which ricochets off Ratta's body before breaking through Aya's camera and it goes straight through her head.
  • Blasting It Out of Their Hands: As Neyla pulls her holstered blaster out to kill the Sniper with, Carmelita shoots it out of her hand with her pistol.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: To help break Mista out of his panicked state, Shiki tells him that they are part of Team 3, which instantly calms him down.
    • After Baskerra says goodbye to the audience, Clownpiece suddenly shows up and yells "SEE YOU NEXT EPISODE!".
  • The Bus Came Back: Shirou Ogami, Carmelita Fox, Aya Shameimaru, Reisen Inaba, and Tracer all come back from previous Arenas whereas Blu Heavy, the Sniper, and the Medic all return from a previous side-story.
  • Call-Back: After being pulled just as he was about to kill an enemy Medic and having a brief chat with the Trickster, he realizes that this is the Arena Heavy keeps talking about.
  • Car Cushion: When Hanzo shoots an arrow into Vega's hand, it causes his claw to disengage from the building wall it was planted into and for him to fall onto a car. He survives the landing.
  • Car Fu: Father Grigori rescues Niko from Nezulla on the second night by driving a car he managed to get working through a wall and pinning Nezulla down with it.
  • Caught with Your Pants Down: After the Medic gets separated from his team from the Ogra attack on the first night, he finds Heracles masturbating. Then Blu Heavy asks him a question, surprising the Medic, causing him to accidentally fire all his syringes into Blu Heavy's ass, causing him to scream. Heracles hears this and rushes towards the source. While the Medic is able to get away, Heracles catches Blu Heavy and subjects him to a No Holds Barred Beat Down for interrupting his personal session.
  • Chekhov's Gag: In chapter 5 Wyrm yells at Nidhiki and Krekka to Duck!, with Krekka confused on what a duck is. It distracts the two of them long enough to get hit by Wyrm's wings and land straight into a destroyed building. Then in chapter 6, the last word Niko gives to Nidhiki and Krekka before they are about to kill him is "duck.". This confuses the two of them long enough for Nezulla attacks Nidhiki from behind, distracting them long enough for Niko to make an escape attempt.
  • Collateral Damage: In the Bloodbath Clownpiece conjures up several energy balls to annihilate the Vahki. And as they go off Frollo and Psylocke get caught in the blast and are killed. She considers their deaths as mistakes that she made.
  • Covers Always Lie: The image chosen for Blu Heavy for the simulation is a still from Pootis Engage videos. Except that Blu Heavy in this story is nowhere near as badass (or as competent) as that one.
  • *Crack!* "Oh, My Back!": When Blu Heavy panics from Ryu asking if he can help him (calmly, mind you), he falls onto his back, with a sickening crack being heard.
  • Curse Cut Short: Niko references one of the most iconic versions of this trope when he yells at the charging Ratta "SMILE YOU SON OF A-" just before Wyrm's railgun fires and blows the tank up.
  • Didn't Think This Through: In Shiki's attempt to cut Retsuko's life thread for some snacks, they break in half she swings her knife and both are carried off by the storm. They both admit that they didn't think the through.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Shiki was willing to kill Retsuko by cutting her life thread over some snacks they were fighting for.
  • Double Take: Niko has one over Roberta in her maid outfit in their Team Introduction, finding it out of place.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Girono dies of a BRUH moment when a surprise strike from Vohrak's staff hands makes him forget how to use his attack and is unable to defend himself, Vernon has his neck stabbed through by Trickster, and Frollo and Psylocke are blown up by
  • Eaten Alive: A rare two-headed variant of a Cock Demon emerges on the first night and eats Shirou and Reisen.
  • Everybody's Dead, Dave: After Niko manages to kill Ratta, he looks around and discovers that it looks like every other contestant is dead, leading him to ask if this means he can go home now. Then Nezulla, the only other survivor of the attack, lunges at Niko. Before they can fight however, they, along with Nidhiki and Krekka, are suddenly teleported away to the final location of the Arena.
  • Eye Scream: As Ogra has Father Grigori in her claws, he gets her to let him go by shooting his shotgun at her, with one of his shots nailing Ogra in the eye.
  • Forgot About His Powers: Justified, as Girono forgets how to use his stand thanks to a surprise strike from Vohrak's staff hands, leaving him open to an attack that kills him.
    • Another justified case happens on the second night when the staffs the Vorzakh use causes the Hydra to forget its regenerative abilities while fighting it, allowing them to eventually overwhelm the beast.
  • Four Is Death: Among the cast for this episode includes a firm believer of this trope, the tetraphobic Guido Mista, who begins the episode freaking out over being on a team with four members. As if to validate his fear, not only does the Bloodbath end with four contestants dead, one of them being Giorno, but the events of the fourth day results in everyone else getting killed except the winner.note
    • Chapter 4 also ends with four deaths.
  • Game-Breaking Bug: Chapter 3 ends with Nidhiki and Krekka watching Carmelita and Blu Heavy fall victim to a glitch, before they glitching out of existence.
  • Groin Attack: After the Sniper foils Neyla's attempt of ambushing and killing him, she knees him in the balls, which he calls his echidnas.
    • When Nezulla sexually assaults Carmelita, she fights back by first clenching her pussy around his dick, causing him to squeak in pain. Then she kicks him in the balls and runs away.
  • High-Voltage Death: Shortly after Niko stabs Nezulla into a broken electronic billboard, a lightning bolt crashes down and strikes the building, cursing the sign to come back to life. This electricity from the strike surges around Nezulla and causes him to explode.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: On the second night, when Destroyah fires a massive MicroOxygen ball into the air, intending to kill Zangief and the Chimera with it. Instead, Sanae uses her most powerful Spell Card, where she fires a big star symbol down, which ends up purifying his MicroOxygen ball and making it her own. And then it lands and destroys all of them.
  • Human Snowman: When Colossus catches Vega boasting about how he's better than all the remaining contestants combined, He asks Vega if he wants to bet on that before punching him through several cars and a snow dune. The result is that it makes Vega look like a mad snowman, with the wire and rubble replacing the traditional sticks and carrot.
  • Impaled Palm: On the first day Hanzo shoots an arrow into Vega's palm, which causes his claw to disengage from the building wall he was on and fall onto a car.
  • Impaled With Extremeprejudice: When Shiki tries to cut the faint threads of life she could find on Ratta, a tendril coming from the tanks and spears her, sending her to a wall. It then drags her around until nothing is left.
  • Implied Death Threat: When Krekka brings up that Nidhiki used to be the Toa of Air and thus should be able to clear the massive tornado in Wyoming, Nidhiki shoots a disc near Krekka and threatens him that if he brings up his past again, he won't miss a second time.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: After forgiving Grigori for bumping into her, she takes a moment to throw a knife into the smoky air, where it hits one of Aya's wings and causes her to fall. Niko is left at a loss of words over her aim.
  • Impromptu Tracheotomy: Trickster kills Vernon by throwing a knife through his neck.
    • After all the crap that Niko has seen and been through, he threatens to ram his knife down Baskerra's throat if she doesn't give him a good reason why he shouldn't.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: Nezulla is always spelt with one l instead of two throughout the story.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: After Dingodile hands Retsuko a discarded rifle, she turns to Ice Bear, and notices him sweating, which leads to a brief chat with him:
Retsuko: "Yeah. It's pretty humid. But at least there aren't any robot monsters anymore."
(Ice Bear points to a Rorzakh patrolling on the ruins of a fishing ship, before it leaps off)
    Retsuko: "Nevermind."
  • In the Back: When several of the remaining contestants are trying to run away from Ratta, Vega stabs Retsuko in the back with his claw, leaving her for dead. Trickster also buries his knife into her body, wanting some sort of win for himself.
    • And as Hanzo and Aya are busy fighting Ratta, Nezulla sneaks up behind Hanzo and stabs him the the heart with his tail while behind him.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: As Vernon tries to lead his team through the madness of the Bloodbath (minus Robeta, who went off on her own), he notices an opening. And as he's telling them what they'll do, he gets his neck cut open by Trickster.
Vernon: "I see an opening just up ahead! We get through that tunnel without them noticing, and then we'll-HURK!"
    • When Psylocke notices several energy balls floating around her and Frollo, she only has time to say "What the-" before they go off and they're caught in the blast.
    • Trickster causes another case of this trope on the first day when he throws a knife into Mista's head as he's calming himself down after coming across Rukia, Mlynar, and Kisuke's corpses:
Mista: "Well, at least it's not four bodies being laid on the ground. In a morbid kind of way, this means I still have a-"(SHANK!)
    • As Carmelita is trying to reach for her pistol while glitching out, "She struggles to say "Can't...give up...need to...need to..." before she glitches out of existence.
  • Two cases just before the fight with Ratta happen:
    • When all the remaining contestants are transported to the baseball stadium, Father Grigori suggests to everyone they should all work together and cooperate, Neyla breaks his neck with her whip.
Father Grigori: "Let us put aside our differences and fight for the same cause. We all want to go home to our friends and families. Why should we take out our anger on each-other just because we want the same thing? I propose peace, cooperation, and-" (SNAP!)
    • And when Dingodile attempts to escape the stadium only for Ratta to crash in and kill him.
Dingodile: "Sorry folks, but I'm getting out of here at long la-" (Ratta smashes through the walls and fires a hail of bullets into him.)
    • When a blast from Ratta causes shrapnel to hit Tracer's device, she asks for someone to help, she's blown to ashes by Ratta before she can finish her plea.
    • And when Aya notices the ricocheting arrow, she only has time to ask What the- before it goes straight through her head.
  • Killed Offscreen: Early in chapter 2, Mista comes across Clownpiece floating above the bodies of Rukia, Mlynar, and Kisuke, having died from ingesting the Grimace Shake. Aya comes across Lee's body later in the same chapter, having also fallen victim to the shake.
    • As Aya is snapping photos of an entire pile of destroyed Vahki, she notices something in the pile. After kicking some parts away, she finds Heracles' body, with an inert tank-shell sizzling in his chest, seconds before it explodes.
    • After Grigori and Niko have a heartfelt conversation about what they would do with the wish, they notice a burning wreck nearby with white feathers flying everywhere, showing that the unseen Ratta had killed her.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: After Ratta destroys Wyrm with several tank shells, the explosion causes her railgun to fly out to where Niko is. This gives him an idea on how to kill Ratta. An idea that he knows is crazy, but fits the crazy situation he's in.
Niko: "You want to defeat something fucking crazy? Think fucking crazy!"
  • Locked Out of the Loop: When Carmelita and Neyla have a verbal altercation with each other, Sniper, who Carmelita saved from being killed by Neyla, and not being from their universe thus not knowing of their history, is left confused by what's even going on.
  • Look Behind You: When Krekka foils Niko's attempt to run away, Niko then tricks him by pretending to warn him of another rat monster while pointing in the opposite direction. When Krekka's distracted, Niko rips off the disc-launcher he had on his shoulder.
  • Making Love in All the Wrong Places: Zangief and Mika have sex in the middle of a tornado.
  • Money Mauling: Roberta gets killed when a stream of (fake) coins suddenly shoot out of a slot machine Ice Bear poked with his axe with enough speed to crash into the place she was hiding, mangling her body.
  • Monumental Damage: As the Arena takes place in a ruined USA, many of the locations feature a ruined landmark. For example, the District Boxes holding each team are underneath the ruined White House and the final location of the Arena is a nearly submerged New York City, where the Statue of Liberty has almost sunk.
  • Mythology Gag: As Niko's walking through the portal back to Liberty City after making his wish, he ponders if he should call Roman for a round of bowling.
  • Neck Snap: Neyla kills Father Grigori by using her whip to break his neck.
  • No Body Left Behind: Black Widow completely melts when Reptilicus' acid strikes the car she was hiding in at full blast.
    • A combination of the Las Vegas Statue of Liberty falling on top of it and Clownpiece unleashing her exploding attack in its mouth ensures that Reptilicus wouldn't be coming back anytime soon, even with its regenerating abilities.
    • When Sanae uses her most powerful spell card which ends up making Destroyah's MicroOxygen attack her own, it lands on Zangief, the Chimera, and Destroyah, and all that's left is a massive crater.
    • When Carmelita and Blu Heavy fall victim to a glitch, Carmelita gets reduced to pixels while Blu Heavy vanishes by clipping through the floor.
    • As Ryu, Nika, the Loch Ness Terror, and Sanae are having a Mêlée à Trois fight, the fight has a premature end when a mysterious third party unleashes a Macross Missile Massacre onto all of them to ensure that nothing left of them remains. The only thing left out of any of them is the Loch Ness Monster's neck, which lands behind Shiki as she's ice-fishing.
    • Shiki gets reduced to nothing when one of Ratta's tendrils impales her and then drags her across a wall until nothing's left.
  • No-Sell: When the Vahki use their staffs to try and manipulate his mind, the staffs all get destroyed from all the sheer rage flooding through him.
  • Not Quite Dead: At the very end of the story, after Baskerra has sent Niko back to Liberty City, Clownpiece suddenly shows up alive and well despite exploding back in chapter two. Clownpiece explains her survival as her being immortal.
  • Off with His Head!: Nezulla kills Nidhiki by ripping off his head and then throwing it away.
  • Oh, Crap!: When Destroyah looks at his own MicroOxygen ball purified by Sane moments before he's destroyed, his last words are "Oh no..."
    • Aya yells this verbatim when she discovers Heracles' body with a tank-shell in his chest, seconds before it goes off and is blown away into a sand dune.
    • In a more subdued example, when Ice Bear's trying to get up from Gwoemul's corpse, he notices a tendril from Ratta raised over him. His lard words are a blank "Oh, shoot." before it smashes him flat.
    • After getting taken by the storming sea, that's when a massive wave with Nezulla in it is about to crash down on him, leading him to shout "Oh, shit!".
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: When the explosions Clownpiece is causing gives Niko flashbacks to the war from his childhood, he cries out "No...not again...not EVER again!" before lunging at Krekka.
    • The Peeping Tom: Retsuko watches Wyrm and Tracer have sex on the third night from a distance, though she's more concerned about her tail freezing.
  • The Scapegoat: During the Bloodbath, As Aya is flying through and taking pictures, she considers blaming the Kappas for causing the ruined civilization she's found herself in, finding that it would make for a great headline. And when Frollo comes across Psylocke, and accuses her of witchcraft and blames her for causing this chaos.
  • Scars Are Forever: When Baskerra heals Niko from the wounds he received from his fight with Nezulla, leaving scars over the wounds he recieved.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When all the remaining contestants are sent to the baseball stadium, Dingodile tries to escape by using his air-blaster to fly him out. Unfortunately that's when Ratta crashes through a wall and turns him into swiss cheese.
  • Shout-Out: Niko's Curse Cut Short moment to Ratta listed above.
  • Sorry to Interrupt: On the first night Hanzo accidentally walks in on Colossus and Wyrm having sex. He then quietly leaves in embarrassment.
  • Squashed Flat: What is described as what happened to Kane when Clownpiece ended up dropping the Las Vegas replica of the Statue of Liberty onto him.
  • Suddenly Shouting: As Retsuko is watching Wyrm and Tracer have sex and considers joining them.
Retsuko: "Then again, I should be more concerned over how THIS TAIL KEEPS FREEZING!"
  • Taking You with Me: After Reptilicus eats Clownpiece, she employs an explosive attack so massive that it, combined with the Las Vegas Statue of Liberty falling on top of Reptilicus, takes out both of them.
  • Teeth Flying: When Niko delivers a hammer-slam uppercut onto Nezulla, it sends several teeth flying out of the rat monster.
  • Tempting Fate: After Mista finds out Clownpiece killed Rukia, Mlynar, and Kisuke, he takes solace in how there aren't four bodies laying on the ground, since he thinks it still gives him a chance. Then, Trickster, listening in on him, throws a knife into his head, killing him and leaving a fourth body there.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Every returnee in this episode ends up getting killed once again.
  • Token Good Teammate: Charlotte Corday for team 6.
  • Total Party Wipe: Team 7 loses three of its members (coincidentally, all by drinking the Grimace Shake) in the second chapter, with its remaining member glitching out of existence at the end of the third chapter.
    • When Ratta truly begins its rampage onto the final contestants and they're forced to fight it, it manages to kill all of them except for Niko and Nezulla.
  • Trash Landing: When Charlotte throws her knife into the smoky sky, it hits Aya in one of her wings, which causes her to fall into a dumpster.
    • In chapter 3 when Wyrm firies some missiles intending to hit the Vahki, but they end up landing near Charlotte and Trickster. While the former is able to land gracefully, the latter ends up landing in a dumpster.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: Mista is introduced in this position over him being on a team with four members in it.
  • Uncertain Doom: When Krekka tries to fly out of the sea, Niko and Nezulla end up clutching onto him, with both of them clutching his face, causing him to spiral out of control. When Krekka shakes the two of them off, half of his body crashes through the roof of the building and collapses, making it unclear if he died from the crash or just fell unconscious.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: As Mercy's trying to escape from Ogra, Aya appears out of nowhere and takes a snapshot of her, which ends up short-circuiting her wings and disorienting her long enough for Ogra to slam her into the ground. Then as Ogra smashes her way through a building, the rubble ends up crushing Mercy.
  • Vile Villain, Laughable Lackey: The main Vahki antagonists of the episode are the duo Nidhiki and Krekka. While Nidhiki's efforts to wipe out the contestants to gain the wish is played seriously, Krekka's antics are played for comedy.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: Most teams start off at each other's throats, most of the time it's due to either having some crazy on them and/or having a bloodthirsty creature that wants to eat them.
  • What Did I Do Last Night?: Blu Heavy's first line is him asking what he had last night.
  • Worthy Opponent: Ratta's last words before dying is to call Niko a truly worthy foe.
  • Your Head Asplode: When Neyla uses her whip to cause Trickster to pull him down to the ground in the direction Ratta's heads are treading, his head gets smashed like a watermelon as he's run over.

Your Winner: Niko Bellic (Buddhe's pick)
