Recap / Supermarioglitchy4s Super Mario 64 Bloopers War Of The Fat Italians 2020

Go To

WOTFI 2020 is finally here, bringing the entire Youtube Arc to a close. This has by far been one of the biggest WOTFIs I've ever worked on. I really hope you guys enjoy :)
Escaping from the Internet Graveyard, the time has come to retake SMG4's account from SMG3 and his Anti-gang. But to settle things once and for all, it must be done in the biggest WOTFI yet.

The video is HERE.

This SMG3 ... no, SMG4 episode contains examples of:

  • And There Was Much Rejoicing: Unlike the somber ending to Francis because of Desti's murder and Meggy's transformation into a human, SMG3's defeat is met with resounding applause from the cast, some of whom hug it with their counterparts.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Mr. Monitor calls out an evil Anti-Shroomy with a chainsaw, who's clearly about to kill the old man walking across the street, for jaywalking at a red light.
  • Artifact Title: This episode is still referred to as "War of the Fat Italians", even though it's not just Mario and SMG4 competing this time around.
  • Ascended Glitch: One of the challenges is to see who can BLJ the fastest, which references a glitch in the original Super Mario 64.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: The two main characters from Axol's "Two Piece" are an animate watermelon and apple.
  • Big Damn Movie: By SMG4 standards. It is 31 minutes long, making it the second longest SMG4 video, as well as the longest WOTFI video, surpassing WOTFI 2018's 20 minutes, which was also the Grand Finale of its own arc.
  • Big "NO!": Shroomy says this after Mr. Monitor caught him... for jaywalking on a red light.
  • Blasting It Out of Their Hands: Steve shoots Meggy's bow with an arrow, knocking it out of her hands.
  • Car Fu: Anti-Shroomy runs someone over with a truck while Mr. Monitor's not watching.
  • Chekhov's Gag: The gag where Mario gives Meggy a fluent English voice with the remote in "Mario Gets Woke" returns in full force here in the middle of the rap battle, which shocks both sides out of fighting and allows her to rally everyone against SMG3.
  • Cherry Tapping: After Bob got to 999% damage when he had to fight Melee Fox, for his finishing move, he kicks him slowly, as if he's moving his leg to poke him in the foot instead of actually kicking him. Bob promptly gets sent flying.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • "Two Piece", the anime Axol made back when he was trapped in the internet graveyard, returns for one of the challenges, in which Luigi and Melony are challenged to see which of them can last longer whilst being forced to watch the anime. However, they are shown to actually enjoy it, as Melony gets a blush after seeing Watermelon-Kun, and Luigi's nose extends (Possibly to represent an erection) so long that it knocks the TV over.
    • Boopkins remembers that Meggy does not like anime, and convinces her to watch it again.
    • Additionally, the rap battle uses various stages seen in previous rap battles - Specifically, the 2016-2018 ones. It even features Rob knocking Waluigi aside as well!
    • Later in the rap battle is a Call-Back to Meggy's time as a lawyer, if the courtroom is any indication.
oooh sorry that's not helping your case try again with a little more grace
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: Many of the punishments that were endured by SMG3 and SMG4 during the challenge where they have to correctly pronounce Susan's last name include:
    • SMG4 being flamethrowered by Harambe the Gorilla.
    • SMG3 being crushed by Godzilla.
    • SMG4 getting hit by Kermit the Frog.
    • SMG3 being sat on by Slenderman.
    • SMG4 being tied up while an anime Mario sings.
    • SMG3 getting crushed by a really heavy weight... in the dick.
  • Curse Cut Short: During the challenge where both Luigis go as long as they can without saying "Weegee," Luigi loses the challenge. He then swears, only to get cut short.
  • Death from Above: In the challenge where SMG4 and SMG3 try to pronounce Susan's last name, SMG3's punishment is nothing... only for him to get crushed by a falling Godzilla.
  • Deliberate VHS Quality: The very beginning of this episode is in purposefully bad quality as SMG3 explains that WOTFI 2020 is cancelled... before it’s revealed to be his voice actor screwing around.
  • Demonic Possession: When SMG3 tries to keep the remote away from Susan, its sprit awakens and possess JubJub, starting the war in order to see who is worthy of the account and channel. Unfortunately, it's not strong enough to fight JubJub's love for his brother Fishy, when SMG3 holds him over the ledge of a building.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: SMG3 suddenly finds out that the YouTube Remote has a "Factory Reset" button, and then presses it. This causes Susan to be paused, and the remote to possess JubJub.
  • Diving Save: Mr. Monitor saves the old man crossing the street from Anti-Shroomy by diving at him.
  • The Dog Bites Back:
    • During the challenge involving stealing Heavy's Sandvich, Tari gets back at Belle by throwing Jarate (the jar with the yellow liquid) at her.
    • The Anti-cast turn on SMG3 after Meggy pointed out that he was just using them. As well as being tired of his Bad Boss attitude.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: SMG3 is defeated and banished, the YouTube Remote is returned to its rightful owner, the Anti-cast is disbanded and integrates into SMG4's gang, and Meggy even gets a new voice.
  • Embarrassing Browser History: Rob in the rap battle assumes Bob to have one. But then Bob says he clears his internet history.
  • Epic Fail: When Tari is showing Meggy how to flip a pancake, Meggy flips the pancake onto the fan, causing it to crush into small pieces, which then causes a fire. Which then spreads to the whole kitchen.
  • Felony Misdemeanor: Mr. Monitor only does something about Saiko and Shroomy causing mass mayhem when Shroomy tries crossing the street on a red light. He also punches Saiko for disobeying a "NO THOTS" sign.
  • Forgot Flanders Could Do That: Meggy's solo in the rap battle was actually the first time she called Mario "Red" in a while.
  • Funny Background Event: While the main characters were fighting the evil YouTube beings SMG3 released in the rap battle, Tari and Belle are seen playing video games with one.
  • Fusion Dance: Bob and Rob combine into a single being after being convinced that they can't beat Matt in Wii Sports.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: JubJub gets possessed by the YouTube remote, causing him to have glowing eyes and having a demonic voice.
  • Grand Finale: Of the YouTube Arc.
  • Gratuitous Japanese: Watermelon-kun from Axol's "Two Piece" says "Daisukii" in place of "love."
  • Groin Attack:
    • One of the punishments in the challenge where SMG4 and SMG3 try to pronounce Susan's last name, SMG3 get his dick flattened by both a dumbbell and Thwomp at the same time.
    • Saiko does one to Kermit the Frog.
  • Happy Dance:
    • After the main characters come out of the pipe, Tari does one after realizing the main characters are free.
    Tari: GUYS! WE'RE FREEEEE!!!
    • Obama does one when he sees Rob about to kick JubJub the farthest with his elephant.
    • Shroomy and Saiko do one when Mr. Monitor wakes up, so that they can trick him into thinking everything is normal.
    • Tari does a happy dance again, this time while Heavy teaches them how to make a sandwich.
  • Heel–Face Turn: While most of them weren't really that evil to begin with, the Anti-cast leaves SMG3 after his defeat and joins SMG4's gang.
  • Homage Shot: The video starts with a recreation of the Super Mario 64 intro, but instead of Mario popping out of the pipe, all of the main characters explode out of the pipe at the same time.
  • Hostage for MacGuffin: SMG3 threatens to throw Boopkins off a building if the YouTube remote wasn't returned to him.
  • Interesting Situation Duel: Unlike all other WOTFIs before it, instead of Mario vs SMG4, it's a team-based battle, with the Glitchy Squad versus the Snitch Production staff.
  • In-Universe Camera: After the main characters come out of the pipe, they see SMG3 filming his crew with a camera.
  • Jaw Drop: Tari does one after seeing Meggy successfully using a flamethrower to cook a chicken.
  • Jaywalking Will Ruin Your Life: Shroomy reacts as if that's the worst thing he's ever done after Mr. Monitor caught him jaywalking on a red light.
  • "Just Joking" Justification: After the rap battle, SMG3 says he was just kidding about everything, right before an evil YouTube drags him into the portal.
  • Kill It with Fire: Meggy uses a flamethrower to cook a chicken. And she succeeds.
  • Know When to Fold Them: Bob gives up immediately then even try and fix Toad and Toadette's relationship.
    • Whimpu contemplates this after Luigi fails to lift Beeg SMG4 and walks away. Ultimately subverted when he sees a bunch of body builders (namely, the Heavy from Team Fortress 2, a gorilla, and a buff Winnie the Pooh) and convinces them to help him lift the Beeg SMG4 and win the challenge.
  • Luminescent Blush: Melony gets one watching Axol's "Two Piece."
  • Mood Whiplash:
    • After an emotional scene of the Mario Head convince the Wario Head to back away, with somber music playing, it promptly flies away with cheerful music playing.
    • During the last challenge, everyone is listening to SMG3's evil monologue, while calm music is playing. But he wants to put on a little play instead. He calls Boopkins to go with him, and he agrees. But instead of a play, he takes Boopkins hostage on top of a building, and if he doesn't get the remote, Boopkins will get dropped.
  • Mother of a Thousand Young: Turns out the Content ID beings that drag people to the Internet Graveyard are in fact the children of Susan herself.
Susan: Pfft...you're trying to send my children after me? GO DO YA HOMEWORK OR NO MINECRAFT TONIGHT!
    Oof Buttons: Yes Mum.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: SMG3, TWICE over. The very first thing he does when he finds out the Glitchy Gang is Back from the Dead? He almost IMMEDIATELY tries to delete them again. Only a prepared Susan's ability to No-Sell the Remote's shenanigans prevents him from sealing his victory in the first three minutes of the episode proper. Later, when SMG3 has had enough of the challenges, he takes Fishy Boopkins hostage, and would have gladly dropped him off a building if the remote wasn't returned to him, and the very moment he reclaimed it, he once again tried to kill the Glitchy Gang.
  • Not Helping Your Case: During the rap battle, as Team Glitch proceeds to turn Team Snitch against SMG3, he attempts to defend himself by saying he's "the nicest guy around". Belle says how SMG3 treats her and the rest of Team Snitch with no respect, prompting him to say they don't earn it, causing Meggy to respond with the trope, as his answer is the complete opposite of what he described himself as earlier.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Shroomy says this while being pinned down by Mr. Monitor. Shroomy was about to kill an old man with a chainsaw as Anti-Shroomy.
  • "Oh, Crap!" Smile: Tari does one after Meggy burns the whole kitchen. While on fire. While saying, "Good job, Meggy!"
  • Overly Long Gag: During the challenge where they have to pronounce Susan's name right, they keep pronouncing it wrong, and the round counter goes to 400,010,231, and their kidnappers are dead from old age.
  • Playing Cyrano: The main point of the "Who can get Bob a girlfriend" challenge. Mario and Whimpu are hiding in a "Totally not suspicious truck rental" and are seeing the eyes of Bob on a screen. Whimpu feeds Bob his lines to say to Belle. Mario then intervenes, and he and Whimpu fight over the microphone. Bob says everything they are arguing about to Belle. She then slaps Bob.
  • Pokémon Speak: The Luigi Doll and JubJub in the rap battle can only say their own names while rapping.
  • Reaction Shot: Whenever SMG3 takes Boopkins hostage, the camera cuts to the other characters reacting in shock.
  • The Reveal: A non-in-universe example: The opening plugin where Luke and Kevin promote the WOTFI 2020 merch as well as the JubJub plushie reveals Glitch Productions editor James Bailey to be the voice of SMG3.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Mario and JubJub both leave after they see the giant Teletubby guarding the Tubby Custard.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: The possessed JubJub reveals that there is an evil YouTube Remote spirit that has finally awoken after SMG3 hit the "Factory Reset" button.
  • Something Else Also Rises: Luigi's nose extends when watching Two Piece.
  • Special Edition Title: Instead of the usual "Glitch Productions" intro, for this video, SMG3 takes over the intro and is replaced by "Snitch Productions."
  • Stating the Simple Solution: Whimpu tells SMG3 and SMG4 to use text-to-speak to find out how to pronounce Susan's last name. Unfortunately, the attempt causes their phones to explode.
  • Suddenly Voiced:
    • Courtesy of the YouTube Remote, Meggy can now speak English, voiced by Lizzie Freeman.
    • JubJub can talk, but in a demonic voice, when he is possessed by the YouTube remote.
  • Uncertain Doom: Deconstructed with SMG3. After being sent to the Internet Graveyard by the end of WotFI 2020, he is attacked by an Ugandan Knuckles. SMG4 says immediately after that SMG3 is dead... but then his voice actornote  said on Twitter that he's still alive, and SMG4 was kind of giggling when he pronounced the character dead. However, how he's going to escape the Internet Graveyard—which was a difficult task for the heroes—is a different beast altogether.
  • Unhand Them, Villain!: SMG3 at the end of the challenges, decides he has enough, and takes Boopkins hostage at a high altitude so that he can get the remote.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Mr. Monitor somehow doesn't notice the chaos that's around him when he wakes up.
  • Versus Character Splash: Before each challenge starts, two characters are against each other on either side, with the word "VS" in orange flames in between the two.
  • Voice of the Legion: JubJub speaks in a deep voice when he is possessed by the YouTube remote.
  • Waiting Skeleton: In the challenge where they have to pronounce Susan's last name, SMG4 and SMG3 go on for so long, everyone except Whimpu turns into a skeleton.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Some of the character's weaknesses affect how they preform in the challenges.
    • For example, Tari in the "who can steal the sandwich from Heavy" challenge was about to get it, but gets distracted by a rubber ducky in Heavy's bath. This distracts her long enough that Belle was able to get it first.
    • In the "Who can beat Matt at Wii Sports" challenge, Rob sees a grocery cart full of corn. This causes Rob to get distracted, and then they lose the challenge by getting blown up by the ball.
  • Wham Episode: SMG3 is definitively defeated by SMG4 and banished to the Internet Graveyard, which becomes an important facet to his character going forward. Also, Meggy's voice is permanently changed when Susan forgets to undo the remote's effects on her, but neither she nor anybody else minds.
  • Wimp Fight: Toad and Toadette are shown fighting like this.

Despite being a Meme Guardian, SMG3 doesn't have the capacity to actually create his own original Memes like SMG4 can.
