- Blofeld Ploy: When choosing whether or not Bob wants to sacrifice Mario, he does... to Ancient Boi.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Swagmaster explains to Chris that the reason he's narrating Mario's journey to find a way to scratch his ass is because he threatened SMG4 to give them more screen time after they didn't appear in the previous arc.
- Breather Episode: This is an episode that comes directly after a huge story arc, so it makes sense for it to be silly and funny compared to the last one.
- Contrived Coincidence: Mario and Bob just so happen to both have itchy butts that can't be scratched at the same time, and both find their way to the ass scratching school.
- Dungeon Bypass: Rather than traveling on foot for fourteen days in order to reach the forge, Mario and Bob simply call an Uber to take them there.
- Evil All Along: Ancient Boi turns out to conduct a sacrificial ritual where a person is fed to the lava in exchange for an ass scratcher.
- Friend-or-Idol Decision: Bob is told he can only receive his ass-scratcher if he sacrifices Mario. He ultimately choses Mario.
- Stating the Simple Solution: Luigi points out that Mario could just get some cream in order to help with the itching, but Mario doesn't listen.
- Sudden Downer Ending: Played for Laughs. Mario and Bob attempt to escape the lava of the forge by sliding down the mountain manages to scratch their asses enough to make them stop itching, but the time they took to explain this and celebrate results in the lava abruptly catching up to them right as the episode ends.
- Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Luke, in the real-life segment at the beginning of the episode, is about to throw a JubJub plushie, but he doesn't. And then he does.
