Go To

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure isn't just popular for the nature of its memes, but its characters as well, even if some of them don't get much screen time, or aren't even human.

Phantom Blood
  • Robert E.O. Speedwagon is absolutely adored in the fandom for being a total Keet who admires Jonathan and Erina to a fault, and the way he respects William Antonio Zeppeli's death and carries out his mentorship legacy after adopting his hat made him all the more charming to fans. His Uncle Pennybags portrayal in Battle Tendency after forming the Speedwagon Foundation doesn't hurt, either. His popularity earned him a major role in Eyes of Heaven, and his Demoted to Extra status in the 2007 movie adaptation was a common criticism among fans.
  • William A. Zeppeli is similarly well-liked by fans, with many considering him the best mentor character in the series.

Battle Tendency

  • Wamuu is the most popular of the Pillar Men by far for being the Anti-Villain of the trio and for the genuine sense of honor he displays towards the protagonists — who he views as his Worthy Opponents — to the point where he's one of the few secondary antagonists in the franchise that is more popular than the main villain (Kars) of his part. There are fans who admit they can't bring themselves to hate him despite killing Caesar, due to how honorable and respectful he is throughout.
  • Despite him being a Satellite Character, Smokey Brown has a rather large following due to him being the series' first black character, being the catalyst for Joseph to show that he doesn't tolerate racism, and his fate of becoming a successful politician.
  • The unnamed Pillar Woman in Kars' flashback is fairly popular for her design. She has no lines and only appears for about 2 seconds, but she's gotten plenty of attention in fanart and fanfiction.

Stardust Crusaders

  • While a lot of DIO's Mooks are forgettable, some of them still have managed to get a following among fans. The most notable of them are:
  • The Egypt 9 Glory Gods, the Praetorian Guard encountered in the Part's second half, are generally much more liked by the fans for being more interesting antagonists. The members below stand out in particular:
    • N'Doul is held in a very high regard by the fanbase for his intense fight, affable nature, and surprisingly tragic death. Comparisons to a fellow Dark Horse Wamuu have been made because of this.
    • The Oingo Boingo Brothers have become very popular among fans, for their hilarious chapter and how unlike DIO's other henchmen, they weren't particularly villainous and had other character traits outside of following DIO. So much so that they got a figure, a one-shot that reveals Boingo tried to become a successful author after the events of Stardust Crusaders, a reference to Tohth in Stone Ocean, and both arcs involving Boingo had alternate credits in the anime.
    • Although he's technically not a Glory God, Anubis' first victim, Chaka, is a very popular character for how much of a Woobie he is with having to deal with his disappointed family, as well as providing one of the best-choreographed fights in the entire series against Polnareff. He even managed to be Promoted to Playable in Heritage for the Future.
    • Mariah, for being one of the very few Dark Action Girls in the series prior to Part 6, and for her both hilarious and tense fight with Joseph and Avdol. She was made playable in Eyes of Heaven, something that even the D'Arby and Oingo Boingo brothers missed out on. Her extremely good looks certainly don't hurt.
    • Daniel J. D'Arby takes the cake as the most popular minion of DIO. His Affably Evil qualities and how he chose to fight the heroes not because DIO wanted him to but for his passion of gambling have gained him a lot of respect among fans. It also helps that his fight was considered one of the best in Part 3 for the high tension and how it broke away from the action of previous fights and was more logic driven. Even Jotaro seems to have considered him a Worthy Opponent, noting later on that Daniel would have never fallen for the simple trick they used to defeat his Smug Snake of a younger brother. He was so well-liked among fans that his fight in the OVA shifted to Araki's art style and he even got his own figure. He also appeared as a boss in Eyes of Heaven, which gave him a rematch against Jotaro in a game of poker, and expanded more on D'Arby's backstory as well as his recovery and thoughts since his Villainous Breakdown in their first game.
    • Pet Shop, likely because of being an ice-wielding bird of prey with a vicious, loyal Creepy Awesome nature, and especially for his brutal and intense fight with Iggy.
  • Enya the Hag, despite being a retroactively important villain, isn't exactly a fan-favorite, with many citing her as a Flat Character who mainly runs on Moral Myopia. However, her OVA incarnation has amassed quite a following for not only having more courteous moments to the Crusaders, but also gaining an incredibly sexy disguise akin to Nena, complete with a Boobs-and-Butt Pose.

Diamond is Unbreakable

  • Yukako Yamagishi only gets two arcs where she is the focus, yet is as synonymous with this part as the main characters are. She is often featured in many fan works related to this part and has gained recognition over the years for being the character that truly kickstarted the Yandere trope. She's even made playable character in Eyes of Heaven, and managed to be added as a new character in All-Star Battle R.
  • Following the footsteps of Wamuu and Hol Horse, Akira Otoishi got a sizeable fanbase. His popularity mostly comes from his outlandish character design, posing a legitimate threat to the heroes for a Villain of the Week, and his memorable fight. Like Wamuu and Hol Horse, he was made playable in both All-Star Battle and Eyes of Heaven.
  • Tonio Trussardi is one of the most beloved characters of this arc due to his highly memorable Breather Episode that serves as a refreshing subversion for the Monster of the Week format and being one of the few genuinely kind and altruistic Stand users who just wants to help heal his customers with his food. The fact that his episode has a heavy focus on Food Porn certainly doesn't hurt either. He gets even more sympathetic in one of the spin-offs, where it's revealed that he came to Morioh so that he could use a Morioh-exclusive ingredient to cure his girlfriend's cancer, and this isn't even mentioning Purple Haze Feedback, where he's revealed to be the sympathetic older brother to the novel's main antagonist, Massimo Volpe.
  • Shizuka Joestar only has a major role in a fairly short arc, is basically treated as a Living Prop for the rest of the Part, and never appears again after the events of the Part. Despite all of this, fans have grown to love her for the sheer amount of Fanfic Fuel she generates, and has become a common source of Fandom-Specific Plots because of it.
  • While Shigechi is a Base-Breaking Character, his Stand, Harvest, is popular for its design, surprising effectiveness in combat and ability to make easy money.
  • Mikitaka Hazekura is popular for the ambiguity of his character and the comedic tone of the arcs he appears in.
  • Yuya Fungami is another well-liked minor character. His debut arc is often considered one of the best in Part 4, his Stand, Highway Star, is cool, Josuke gets lots of creative uses out of Crazy Diamond's repairing ability, and three of the most famous scenes are in it. note  Not only that, but his love for his girlfriends is all but stated to be genuine, definitely making him more sympathetic in the long run. His spotlight in the Enigma Boy arc, where he not only helps but saves Josuke, also gained him a lot of fans.
  • Shinobu Kawajiri started to gain more attention with the anime adaptation for her amusing interactions with Yoshikage Kira as Kosaku Kawajiri.

Golden Wind

  • Polpo's Stand, Black Sabbath, is one of the most popular Stands in the series for its slick design, interesting role and fight, and for being the first sign of Golden Wind Growing the Beard. It helps that it has the name of an incredibly influential Metal band. The fun boss battle in the PS2 game with a menacing song to amp up the urgency also helps.
  • Abbacchio's Stand, Moody Blues is the very definition of Awesome, but Impractical, serving next to no fighting capabilities, but it's beloved for its incredibly creative uses, from replacing parts of Abbacchio's body when Man in the Mirror transports them to the mirror world, to being used to fly a plane via recreating a pilot when none of Team Bucciarati has the ability to pilot a plane, to flat-out recreating the events of a suicide tape. The anime also furthered Moody Blues' popularity, thanks to both its holographic metal paint job and its oddly satisfying phone receiver noises.
  • La Squadra is, bar none, the most popular Quirky Miniboss Squad in the series. On top of being Anti-Villains (with the exception of Melone), they all prove themselves to be rather cool characters who many fans wish had actually won. The members below stand out in particular:
    • Risotto Nero is possibly the most popular secondary antagonist in the series for being A Father to His Men, Tragic Villain and a worthy opponent for Diavolo to compete for the leadership of Passione. His memorable arc and fight scene with Doppio is considered one of the best and most intense arcs in Part 5 due to high stakes and Doppio not having the Plot Armor on in a similar way Bucciarati or Giorno does. Many fans even hoped that Risotto would have eventually joined Team Bucciarati in a fight against Diavolo. Adding to that, Risotto's popularity is certainly helped that he has one of the most terrifying Stand abilities in the series which is named after an influential thrash metal band.
    • Pesci and Prosciutto rival, if not surpass, Risotto in popularity. Pesci is oddly endearing for his un-gangster-like mannerisms and soft-heartedness, not to mention he has an incredible amount of growth in a short time period, culminating in him going from a soft-hearted "mammomi" into a stone-cold assassin who nearly wiped out every member of Bucciarati's group. And given how likable he was up to that point, it was hard for a lot of people to not root for him. Prosciutto is the complete opposite of Pesci, being a hardened, ruthless, determined gangster and a supporting mentor and big brother figure to Pesci who kills without hesitation and has very memorable inspiring words on how a stone-cold assassin gets a job done. His mannerisms and appearance are also the most gangster-like of La Squadra, which is why many find him so memorable. We're not even talking about his terrifying Stand ability.
    • Ghiaccio, despite being a minor antagonist, is rather popular thanks to his interesting design and his creative use of his Stand, White Album, which make his fight one of the more memorable ones. The anime increased his popularity, thanks to his bizarre Seinfeldian Conversation-style ranting being voiced and hilariously ridiculous.
  • Diavolo's right-hand man and split-personality Doppio is regarded very warmly for his hilarious yet simultaneously creepy mood swings and his Adorkable nature. For some it's even enough to make them enjoy Diavolo more to an extent thanks to their interesting relationship.
  • Suprisingly, in spite (or rather because) of how much of a Hate Sink and Complete Monster he is, Cioccolata is one of the most popular villains from this part due to his unapologetic cruelty, banter with Secco, dualism with Giorno, horrifying Stand ability, and memorable death scene. The anime exclusive Early-Bird Cameo of him being the one who sliced Sorbet up was a welcome addition to many. Another reason for Cioccolata's popularity is that, unlike most other enemy Stand users in this part, he has a fleshed-out backstory which exists just to showcase how much of an awful person he really is.
  • To a lesser extent, Secco is also relatively popular due to his aforementioned banter with Cioccolata, his Sir Swears-a-Lot attitude, and his fight with Bucciarati during which he shows that he's not as stupid as he looks.

Stone Ocean

  • Gwess has a dedicated following of fans who consider her underrated and underutilized, wishing to see her role as Jolyne's flunky more than what was shown, and considering her a great Starter Villain for her quirky Bitch in Sheep's Clothing personality.
  • Rikiel is quite beloved among the fanbase for inheriting his father's determination and being the most sympathetic of DIO's sons (with the exception of Giorno).
  • Pucci's second Stand, C-Moon, despite appearing only in one arc before transforming into Made In Heaven. Its powers of being a Gravity Master makes its battle with the heroes among the most fun and creative ones in the franchise, especially when most of Part 6's fights were considered underwhelming by many in comparison.
  • The Made In Heaven-universe version of Jotaro gained quite a bit of memetic popularity once the anime was released, if only due to how much of a Gonk he is compared to the more traditionally handsome Jotaro. Fans have largely taken to calling him "Qtaro Kujo" as a callback to Jotaro's fake sign-in name in Stardust Crusaders.

Steel Ball Run

  • Ringo Roadagain is quite possibly the single most popular minor villain in the entire franchise, for his cool design, being a Noble Demon, and his Stand, Mandom. He's so popular, that many fans were disappointed to hear that he was considered to be a playable character in Eyes of Heaven, but ended up getting scrapped.
  • Blackmore is liked for his cool design, interesting personality, his Battle in the Rain, and for acting as an effective Knight of Cerebus.
  • Even amongst minor Villain of the Week characters, D-I-S-C-O stands out for having a very short appearance and only getting two lines of dialogue. This doesn't stop him from being popular among fans.
