Part I - Aoba Yuki: Majestic Shadow

     Overview 
  • Frosted Wings Arc | Chapters 1-8
    Synopsis: Yuki has been the target of the Red Scarves ever since she was a child. Her abilities get the attention of a gang who can offer her an opportunity to escape her pursuers. Based on chapter 1-8 of Frosted Wings: The Fall of the Crimson King
  • Court Assault Arc | Chapters 9-20
    Synopsis: Hired by the Shoheki, Yuki infiltrates a rival gang in order to take out its leader, the Crimson King. Difficulties arise, and she has to prove her skills as a double agent. Based on chapter 9-19 of Frosted Wings: The Fall of the Crimson King.
  • Wounded Queen Arc | Chapters 20-36
    Synopsis: Following the death of the Crimson King, Yuki is out to kill the remaining members of the Kakuchu. In the meanwhile, a detective investigates the murder case of Kyushei Ryuu. Alternate timeline version based on Frosted Wings: Rewound Memories.

Yuki is a falcon who had been abandoned by her parents when she was still an egg and had to survive in the icy temperatures of the Shuigang Snowfields. In her early teens, she would start using her Affinity, that allows her to manipulate ice, subconsciously. After she injures a few members of the Red Scarves out of self-defense she gets frequently hunted down by them.

Part II - Aimi Akari: Spirit Trials

     Overview 
Spirit Trials is the second installment of the Iris of Vortex series, centering around veteran Scarf Aimi Akane and the rest of her Five-Man Band. Initially starting as a bit of Slice of Life for the first one-third, the story enters a bigger arc revolving around a McGuffin that corrupts the minds of those who seek them.

The setting, characters, and plot points were heavily inspired by The Five Scarves.

Story arcs and their source material

  • Chaos Ensamble Arc: The entire Five Scarves Scarves trilogy.
    Hanna dies.
  • Affinium Chase Arc: The first two books of the Five Scarves Elemental trilogy.
  • Jade Alliance/Aquila Arc: The last book of the Five Scarves Elemental trilogy, as well as the entire Five Scarves Dragonkin trilogy.

  • Abusive Parents: Does not need much elaboration.
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: Maria's color scheme has been altered significantly; she has brown-ish fur instead of green.
  • Death by Adaptation: Maria does a Heroic Sacrifice; With Hanna dying after swallowing an Affinium crystal, Maria decides to try one of them on herself. With pure motivations, she is granted Stage 2, which turns her into a living Flower Crystal. She is able to revive Hanna by transferring all her life energy, obviously at the cost of her own life.
  • Promoted to Love Interest: To Hanna.
  • The Chosen One: Downplayed but she is, ultimately, the only one in Part 3 that is naturally granted Stage 2.

  • Charm Person: Averted with Kaede. In her first appearance, she was made out to be a Charm Person which was quickly proven to be the opposite when Maria caught her off-guard.

Part III - Kasumi Keika: Quest For The Future

     Overview 
  • Hidden Files Arc: Original story, with characters and influence from Freedom Planet 2.
    • On a years-spanning search for her older sister, Carol Tea has lost the determination she used to have. The only lead left would be the Red Scarves, so she decides to break into her former guild's headquarters for answers.
  • Nightmares Arise Arc: The entirety of Five Scarves - Black Tea.
    • The oldest sister of the Tea siblings, Corazon, gets herself into a downwards spiral that results in unforgivable actions, and her eventual banishment. When the scheduled execution ends in a total disaster, it becomes the duty of Caitlin, the Tea clan prodigy, to complete the task.
  • Moon Eater Arc: Original story, with characters and influence from Freedom Planet 2.
    • The plan to revive the ancient weapon Bakunawa is in full gear, and the allied forces keep suffering losses. Only a select few can stand up to the threat of Merga and Corazon, and it becomes a race against time.

  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Corazon during her childhood and late teens.
  • Ambition Is Evil: Corazon's ambition to make her family the praised, by killing all Dragons, who had been getting the credit for their influence in the planet's history.
  • Bad Powers, Bad People: The power to stop the flow of time for a person or object is not something that can usually be used for good.
  • Broken Ace
  • Came Back Strong: In those eight years between her defeat at the hands of Caitlin and her encounter with Lilac, she has become way stronger as she took over Caitlin's body, and had the time to train with it.
  • Combat Pragmatist: During her early days up until taking Caitlin's body.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Before molding with Caitlin's body, her first fight against Caitlin. After, her fight with Neera, Sumire, and the first encounter between her and Carol.
  • Dark Is Evil: Shows the full extend of the Tea's dark powers.
  • Enfant Terrible: Already as a young girl, she has badly injured her father. While it was in retaliation, everything after it can only be blamed on herself.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Caitlin.
  • Fatal Flaw: Corazon acts mercilessly towards anyone other than the Tea clan, who she deeply cares for. But that's only half the truth; she knows she's a Hypocrite for acting against the clan, and even killing one of them. But after Caitlin's death, she has become obsessed with fighting someone as impressive as her younger sister. When Carol shows up, she is interested in facing her but not openly admitting it. And in their encounters, she stalls time so that the two can grow in power as it goes on.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Despite what happened to her, genocide is crossing the line.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Her backstory, pretty much.

  • Glass Cannon: Not only before but also after taking Caitlin's body as it was weakened heavily after death.

     Misc 

Tea Clan

  • Cat Ninja: The entire clan consists of ninja Wildcats.
  • The Clan: Tea Clan.
  • Son of a Whore: Applies to Corazon, Caitlin, and Carol. However, it is downplayed. Melanie Tea isn't a sex worker; rather, it is the tradition of the Tea clan that the wildcats get a few children, and with different men. This is also a case of Women Prefer Strong Men most of the time.
