Canon Characters
Dipper Pines
- Amicable Exes: Becomes this with Pacifica after some time.
- Brother–Sister Team: Becomes this with Mabel after she and Arline start training him.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The responsible one to Mabel's foolishness.
- Hero Ball: Comes into possession of this in Fires of Hate when he tries to get even with the Warlock. It doesn’t end well.
- Likes Older Women: He likes Wendy again, but since she's technically been dead for almost three years, it's hard to say whether or not she's 'older' than him.
- Non-Action Guy: Is this until Mabel, and later Arline, start training him.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: Is only ever called Dipper, and there have not been any hints in-story that that is not his real name.
- Rookie Male, Experienced Female: Is this with Mabel as far as The Paths are concerned.
- Screams Like a Little Girl: He hasn't grown out of this in the three years since they left town the first time.
- Sibling Yin-Yang: With Mabel.
- Single-Episode Handicap: He loses function of his hands in Fires of Hate, but they are fixed by the end of the next episode.
- Strong Girl, Smart Guy: The Smart Guy to Mabel's Strong Girl.
- The Insomniac: Becomes this in the second half of season two.
Mabel Pines
- Action Girl: Her Paths training makes her one of these.
- Blonde, Brunette, Redhead: The brunette.
- Brother–Sister Team: Becomes this with Dipper after she and Arline start training him.
- Celeb Crush: Has one on Zander.
- Cloudcuckoolander
- Cool Bike / Cool Shades: Gets a pink bike in the first episode, and at some point on the drive to Gravity Falls, she buys a pair of pink sunglasses.
- Drives Like Crazy: The second she got on her bike, she crashed through the fence around her house.
- Elemental Punch: Does this in the second part of Draconic Tendencies, and it is eventually revealed to be her Zodiac symbol.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The foolish one to Dipper's responsibility.
- Hangover Sensitivity: Has this anytime after she eats a ton of candy.
- Informed Ability: Her Paths training is this in the beginning. We seen the martial arts part in Familiarity, and the elemental part is shown in Classic Rock.
- Interspecies Romance: Had something with Jace before he came out. Also has a crush on Zander, whose species is complicated.
- Keet: Even though she's not-so-little anymore, this still applies.
- Large Ham: Dipper even calls her one in an early episode.
- Likes Older Men: Has a crush on Zander, whose age is complicated.
- Playing with Fire: Is training to develop these.
- Rookie Male, Experienced Female: Is this with Dipper as far as The Paths are concerned.
- Running on All Fours: Does this when she turns into a werewolf.
- Sibling Yin-Yang: With Dipper.
- Single-Episode Handicap: Loses full funiton of her sight, and several other senses, in A Mabel of Perspective.
- Smitten Teenage Girl: Towards Zander.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: Speaks pig, llama, alpaca, sheep and goat, and is 'okay' at elephant.
- Strong Girl, Smart Guy: The Strong Girl to Dipper's Smart Guy.
- Student–Master Team: With her master Arline.
- Suddenly Fluent in Gibberish: Being zapped by the blue cylinders makes her be able to speak/understand Urlin, Yuki's alien language.
- The Apprentice: To Arline.
Grunkle Stan
- Cool Uncle: Is stated to be 68, and can fight just as good as Arline, especially when someone he cares about is in danger.
- Intergenerational Friendship: Is the traditionally oldest member of the group, with one or two generations between him and pretty much anyone else.
- Successful Sibling Syndrome: Has less of this currently because of EZB's theories.
- The Scrooge: Is this until Arline calls him out on it.
- Token Adult: Is this in the first season. More join in the second.
Soos
- A Day in the Limelight: Splits one with Wendy in Home, Home on the Range, and gets his own in Soos-less.
- Apologetic Attacker: Says sorry to anyone he fights, and tries to avoid fighting as much as possible.
- Dead Weight: Feels like this in season three.
- Fat Comic Relief
- Handy Man
- Talking in Your Sleep: Starts doing this once he meets Kelly.
- The Load: Feels this way in season three.
- The Paladin: His Strongholds and Serpents character is this.
Wendy
- Action Girl: Even more so than in the show because now she can't be killed.
- A Day in the Limelight: Splits one with Soos in Home, Home on the Range, and is the focus of the story arc in the first half on season two.
- Blonde, Brunette, Redhead: The redhead.
- Clothing Damage: In season three, she gets and continually has to replace a jacket.
- Dead All Along: She died the Halloween after the twins left and has been a wraith ever since.
- Detect Evil: Has something like this.
- Fearless Undead: The only thing she is scared of is going insane because she is a wraith.
- Goth: Is this in the alternate timeline in Soos-less.
- Gut Feeling: Part of her wraith-senses.
- Living Lie Detector: Is this except for the 'living' part.
- Outdoorsy Gal: Even more so than the show as she has been 'living' in the woods for the past two/three years.
- The Undead
Pacifica
- Action Girl: Becomes this after she gets her dragon, Magenta.
- Alpha Bitch: Is this in her first appearance as she had not gone through her character development in the show yet.
- Amicable Exes: Becomes this with Dipper after some time.
- Blonde, Brunette, Redhead: The blonde.
- Defrosting Ice Queen: Once she starts having feeling for Yuki, she becomes this.
- Dragon Rider: Becomes this in Draconic Tendencies.
- Interspecies Romance: With Yuki.
- Light Girl, Dark Boy: Is this to Yuki's Dark Boy.
- Likes Older Men: Subverted with she and Yuki.
- Magical Flutist: Plays an enchanted flute in her first appearance.
- Mayfly–December Romance: With Yuki.
- Unusual Pets Forunusual People: Gets a dragon in the second part of season two.
Ford
- Last Episode, New Character: Is introduced in the last episode of season two.
- Precious Photo: The pic Mabel takes in After the Shadows become this for him.
Bill Cipher
- Big Bad: Most likely. The options are either him or the Warlock, so it's a toss-up.
- The Chessmaster: Manipulated Omir from the beginning, and in EZB's alternate first summer, there are hints that he was able to cause a lot of trouble in the family this way.
- The Nicknamer: Even gives nicknames to the OC's.
OC's
Uki-Dohth/Yuki
An Alien from a species known as the Xabvri, the twins met him at the end of season one. After saving the town, he began to live in Gravity Falls at the Mystery Manor.- Affectionate Nickname: Mabel is the first person to call him Yuki, and the name stuck.
- Bizarre Alien Biology: He species has two hearts, leaves in their hair, violet eyes, and can irreversibly adapt themselves to the environment/atmosphere of another planet. This adaptation caused him to have super strength. His species is also able to go into a coma when they are badly injured, allowing them to heal, although the process takes a lifetime.
- Death by Disfigurement: 'Death' is a strong word, but the Warlock hits him with blackflame... repeatedly.
- Does Not Know His Own Strength: When he first becomes adjusted for Earth atmosphere, he becomes super strong, and it takes some time to get used to.
- Double Agent: Becomes one in season two.
- Friend to All Living Things
- Funny Foreigner
- Interspecies Romance: Pacifica has a crush on him, and he eventually returns her feelings.
- Light Girl, Dark Boy: The Dark Boy to Pacifica's Light Girl.
- Mayfly–December Romance: With Pacifica.
- Oblivious to Hints: Par for the course with his Funny Foreigner status.
- Older Than They Look: He looks sixteen or so, but is really over 80 years old.
- Pacifist: As long as no one messes with the twins or his friends, he is this. If someone does, all bets are off.
- Sarcasm-Blind: This and he can't pick up expressions all that well.
- Stronger Than They Look
- Super-Strength: Gets this when he becomes adapted for Earth's atmosphere.
Arline Hirsh
Mabel's Paths Master, at the start of season two she is told by her Master to go to Gravity Falls and protect the twins from the Warlock. She begins living in one of the motel rooms and eventually starts training the twins.- Arbitrarily Large Bank Account: Her Master provides her with one of these.
- Cool Teacher: Is this for Mabel, and eventually Dipper.
- Playing with Fire: Her Paths abilities.
- Student–Master Team: With her student Mabel.
- Suspicious Spending: Pays ridiculously large amounts of money to stay in one of Stan's motel room, making him think she's hiding something.
- Tuckerization: Her last name is Hirsh, and her first name starts with an A.
- Wreathed in Flames: Can do this, but she tends to keep it just to her arms.
Zander Maximillion
The lead singer of the band Duskhope, he met the twins when the band came to town. After finding a replacement singer, he retired from singing and moved into the Gleeful's old home, quickly becoming part of the twins' adventures.- Conscience Makes You Go Back: After trying to get out of dodge towards the end of season two, he realizes that he is part of the fight and returns to Gravity Falls.
- Large Ham: Is his standard setting, but he is able to turn it down when the need arises.
- Lethal Chef: Says he is this.
- Living a Double Life: You have no idea how many lives he is living.
- Long Haired Prettyboy: Has shoulder-length blonde hair.
- Pretty Boy: Very much so.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Towards the end of season two, he tries to do this to avoid the ensuing war.
- Signature Line: There will always be a new day.
- String Theory: The first real sign that he is hiding something comes after the Summerween Party, where he is revealed to have one of these in a hidden room of his house, with more information on it than a rock-star who first came to town two weeks ago had any right, or way, of knowing.

Graupner Kinley, AKA: The Warlock
The twins' main enemy, they first met when he was attempting a searching spell. Since then, he has repeatedly tried to kill them and their friends, with varying degrees of success. He has a stutter from a spell his Master, the Sorcerer, put on him.- Addictive Magic: The spells he uses are this.
- Blood Magic: Uses this in his first episode.
- Cult: Forms one in Season three called The Rising Grasp.
- Curse: These are his main source of power.
- Energy Ball: How he weaponizes his blackflame powers.
- Greek Fire: His blackflame is like this.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: His Master actually put a spell on him becaus eher has this. The spell is what causes his stutter.
- Increasingly Lethal Enemy: Only got involved with the twins the first time because of poor timing and bad decisions. By now, he is actively trying to kill the twins any time they meet.
- Knight of Cerebus: EZB even says thing will get dark in the second part of the Warlock's first episode.
- Laughably Evil: Is this when he doesn't use his spells for stuff.
- Not-So-Harmless Villain: In season two, he quickly becomes a name to run away from really fast.
- Person of Mass Destruction: Destroys half the town by the end of season two.
- Spell Blade: Uses these on occasion.
- Spell Book: Has several of these through the course of the story.
- The Dreaded: Becomes this as time goes on.
- The Heavy
- Tracking Spell: Attempts one of these in his first appearance, but it doesn't work.
- Unblockable Attack: 99 percent of the time, his blackflame is this.
Omir Steindorf, AKA: The Sorcerer
The head of Steindorf and Co., he first comes to town during the business convention. After the Warlock causes trouble at the event, Omir appears to take a personal interest in the investigation into the Warlock's motives. In reality, he is the Warlock's Master, but is trying to keep up appearances so no one suspects him.- Cool Old Guy: Is older than almost everyone present, but is stronger than many of them.
- Color-Coded Wizardry: His powers are white while the Guardsman's are black.
- Light Is Not Good: Has a white staff, but is the Warlock's Master.
- Magic Staff: Has a white one.
- Really 700 Years Old: Is implied that he is this.
- Spontaneous Weapon Creation: Can make a staff out of light.
- The Dog Was the Mastermind: No one suspected him of having anything to do with the Warlock, but he was behind everything from the beginning.
- The Man Behind the Man: Is behind most of the Warlock's actions.
- Unwitting Pawn: Bill tricked him into freeing him.
- Weather Manipulation: Was able to do this in Ashes in the Sky.
Kelly Yore
A demon of the past and Bill Cipher's sister, she meets Soos first when the Warlock used her to track the twins. But Soos' personal feelings when they first meet allow her to stick around and cause more trouble than intended.- Talking in Your Sleep: Causes this in Soos when they meet.
- The Illuminati: Is Bill's sister. She is blue and has her point going down, and dresses like someone from the Victorian Era. Unlike her brother, she is a Demon of the Past.
The Guardsman/Arline's Master
Arline's Master first appeared at the start of season two to tell her to go to Gravity Falls to protect the twins from the Warlock. The Guardsman first appeared to observe the meeting of all the species of the forest, their problems having gotten worse sense the Warlock showed up. At the end of the first part of Fires of Hate, they are revealed to be one and the same. The next episode reveals that he is also the person who created the Paths.- Badass Longcoat: When he appears to Arline and his other students, he wears one of these.
- Coat, Hat, Mask: Wears these when he talks to his students.
- Color-Coded Wizardry: His powers are black while the Sorcerer's are white.
- Dark Is Not Evil: While his powers manifest as black, he is on the twins' side.
- Does Not Like Magic: He says it is a shortcut to things.
- Flight: As he is a Master of all the elements, he can do this.
- Magical Guardian: Is the Guardian of the Starkissed Stone.
- Magic Staff: Has a black one.
- Mysterious Protector: Everyone else in the forest is scared of him, and all they know about him is that he is very old and is guarding something special.
- Playing with Fire: The Guardsman is a master at all the elements.
- Really 700 Years Old: Is implied that he is this.
- Shroudedin Myth: Most of the myth is revealed at the end of season two/early season three.
- Spontaneous Weapon Creation: Can make a staff out of darkness.
- The Faceless: Is this until the end of season two when the mask finally comes off.
- The Quiet One: When he's in his Guardsman persona, he is this.
