Protagonists

     Abra Stone
The main protagonist. One of the most powerful of the Shiners.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Has this reaction when she recovers from the Overlook Hotel possessing her...only to realize that she killed her own mother while being under its influence.
  • Self-Made Orphan: Indirectly killed her mother when the Overlook possesses her.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Taps into more psychic abilities aside from the ones she had in the actual film.

     Danny Torrance
The protagonist of Doctor Sleep and its film adaptation. Serves as the mentor of Abra.

True Knot

     Rose the Hat

  • Adaptational Villainy: Upon her revival, she drops her affection for her fellow True Knots in the name of vengeance.
  • Bad Boss: Starves several True Knots by depriving them of steam; murders scores of them; express zero sorrow towards any of them getting killed, and thinks nothing of experimenting and brainwashing them into becoming psychotic monsters.
  • Arch-Enemy: Becomes Abra's largest foe because of how she managed to defeat her in the film.
  • Big Bad: Of Ressurection.
  • Deader than Dead: Gets ripped apart and destroyed by her own black hole.
  • Domestic Abuser: Morphs into one when she has Crow Daddy resurrected; she blasts dark energy at his feet; insults him; and ultimately kills him without an iota of remorse.
  • Feeling Oppressed by Their Existence: Hates Abra so much, she thinks nothing of creating a black hole to destroy all worlds.
  • For the Evulz: Has the Overlook possess Abra into killing her mother for fun.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Birth of Evil reveals she was an impoverished orphan who was made a True Knot by none other than Elizabeth Bathory.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: Is destroyed when she is sucked into her own black hole.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Upon learning of the existence of the multiverse, she decides to destroy it out of spite.
  • The Sociopath: Lacks care for her True Knots and thinks nothing of killing them if they displeased her or using them as guinea pigs.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Gradually loses it when Abra starts to best her.

     Crow Daddy
Rose's boyfriend.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Dies when he uses his Shining to sling Scrappy Meg away from getting crushed to death by Rose.
  • Killed Off for Real: Due to Lester being dead, there is likely no other True Knot out there who practices necromancy.

    Snakebite Andi
One of Rose's minions.

     Barry the Chunk
A sadistic locater.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Was abused by his father and had an absent mother in his life.
  • Deader than Dead: Is killed by Abra and because his ashes were washed away into the sea, there is no considerable way to revive him.
  • For the Evulz: Kills children because he views them as entitled bastards.
  • Serial Killer: Killed six young girls before being turned by Rose.
  • The Sociopath: Acknowledges that he has no love for his fellow True Knots but joined regardless because he loved instilling pain into his victims.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Killed several during his attempts at destroying a bridge to kill Abra. Birth shows that he had killed children long before he became a True Knot.

     Grampa Flick

  • Killed Off for Real: Remains dead from the events of the film and Rose made it clear that she wasn't going to bother to bring him back.

     Walnut

     Scrappy Meg
A True Knot with the ability to control metal with her mind.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Rebels against Rose the Hat when she was going too far in her thirst for vengeance.

     Lester
A member from another clan of True Knot who ends up working for Rose unwillingly.

Others

     The Overlook Hotel
The evil hotel responsible for all of the mysterious, supernatural spectrums in The Shining.

     Aldrich Gresley
An incredibly old True Knot who ran a Human Trafficking operation before Rose usurped him.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: While he may run a business on selling Shining-powered children to be tortured to death for their steam, he nevertheless loves his group and is genuinely enraged that she was killing them for the slightest inconvenience.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Is shot to death by Rose...who continues to shoot at him even when he was just a mound of ash at that point.
  • Fat Bastard: An incredibly overweight True Knot who could barely hold himself upright.

Introduced in Birth of Evil

     Elizabeth Bathory
The infamous Blood Countess who was indirectly responsible for making Rose into what she was. She was the first True Knot.
