Power Players

    Axel Mulligan/Action Axel

Voiced by (English): Kieran Walton

The main character of the show. He is Andrew's nine-year-old nephew. After becoming the new owner of the Power Bandz and accidentally freeing Madcap & the Power Players from his uncle's workshop, he uses the Power Bandz to become Action Axel and helps the team stop Madcap.

  • Alliterative Name: Action Axel.
  • Arm Cannon: Mounted on his right wrist.
  • Catchphrase: "Game on!", said right before transforming.
  • Expy: Axel somewhat resembles Adrien in appearance and voice, as well as being main characters of their own ZAG Heroez shows. The difference would be that Axel is the Hero Protagonist in his show, while Adrien is the Deuteragonist in Miraculous. His face is also very obviously a copy of Zak Storm from the titular Zag show.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Has a sword as part of his armor.
  • Impostor Forgot One Detail: After switching bodies with Madcap, he tries to get the toy's evil goons to obey him with a rousing speech of unity... which clues said toys that he's not Madcap because the real Madcap would never say something that sentimental.
  • Incredible Shrinking Man: Using the Power Bandz makes him shrink to the size of an action figure.
  • Innocent Inaccurate: Assumes on many occasions that his heroic antics would get him punished forever. Justified as he's still young and being prone to hide things, would assume being Action Axel would get him in trouble with his uncle.
  • Kid Hero
  • Morality Dial: Should he be sick, his Minergy can get infected by the virus and turn him into a hot-blooded, self-absorbed and brutal toy, leaving him stuck as a threat until his team finds a way to cure him.
  • No-Sell: Madcap tries to steal his Minergy during an episode... at a moment where Axel is in human form and thus has no Minergy to drain.
  • Powered Armor: Created by the Power Bandz.
  • Primary-Color Champion: In both of his forms, with some green as Action Axel.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Has an "evil" armor that activates while he's sick, the Minergy mutating his cold into a virus that renders him brutal, mean and antagonistic. He later temporarily reuses that armor when overcharged with Minergy in the finale, albeit without turning evil.
  • Transformation Sequence: Has one when he transforms into Action Axel and has others for when he uses his powers.
  • Younger Than They Look: Although Axel is nine-years-old, he sounds and looks more like a teenager.

    Sarge Charge

Voiced by (English): Greg Chun

An army soldier action figure.

    Galileo

Voiced by (English): Todd Haberkorn

A lizard spy toy.

    Masko

Voiced by (English): Carlos Salazar

A Mexican wrestler stretchy toy.

  • Masked Luchador: True to his name.
  • The Lancer: To Sarge. They butt heads over shooting versus melee combat.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Whenever Masko stops having fun wrestling, gets depressed or even shows any sign of distress is a good sign something important must be wrong.
  • Rubber Man: His stretching powers have no defined limit.
  • Shout-Out: To the Stretch Armstrong toys, for his stretchy arms that he uses to fight.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: He adores eating goulash.

    Bearbarian

Voiced by (English): Jamieson Price

A barbarian bear that wields a hammer known as the Worldbreaker.

    Bobbie Blobby

Voiced by (English): Reba Buhr

A girl piloting a mecha suit that shoots clay.

  • Alliterative Name: Has matching initials.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Since she's a toy, she doesn't have any kind of ethnic or racial background.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Her main trait. She can and will always have something blunt to say to others, with varying results of feeling hurt, ignoring her or being amused.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: A toy clay variant.
  • Girly Bruiser: While her demeanor is more tomboyish, her mecha has a skirt and they're colored in bright pink, purple, and cyan. She doesn't treat any of these girly traits as a problem.
  • Mini-Mecha: Pilots one which makes her size proportionally about the same as Bearbarian, but nevertheless it's still a toy.
  • Rhyming Names: Bobbie Blobby.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: Parodied. Apparently, she majored in Orangutan Conquer language at school and can understand Orangutank perfectly.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The only girl in the Power Players, not counting Zoe occasionally joining in.
  • Tomboyish Name: Her name is usually used for guys.

    Slobot

Voiced by (English): Landon McDonald

  • Beware the Nice Ones: Dynamo learned this the hard way. Trying to attack him then targeting his friends, he'd nearly succeed had Slobot not winded him down and allowed the Power Players to beat him up.
  • Expy: His facial design resembles Caramba's exo-suit face from Zak Storm.
  • Meaningful Name: He moves and talks quite slowly.
  • Missed the Call: Arrived late in the first episode.
  • Mr. Fixit: The team's mechanic.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Him speaking faster in his new suit in "That Slobot is No Bot of Mine" as well as being more provocative and aggressive is a dead ringer that something's wrong with his programming.

Madcap and his army

    Madcap

Voiced by (English): Paul Haapaniemi

An evil toy created in the past by Uncle Andrew, hellbent on taking over the planet.

    Porcupunk

One of the first toys Madcap brought to life, along with Orangutank. Can shoot out his spikes like a real porcupine.

    Orangutank

A mechanical gorilla/orangutan-like primate toy brought to life by Madcap along with Porcupunk.

    Dynamo

Voiced by (English): Todd Haberkorn

A wind-up toy that Madcap brings to life, first appearing in the episode "The Dynamo Dynamic", but chronologically debuting in "Bowling for Ballers".

  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: He doesn't understand why the Power Players would let him go peacefully after a plan to trick them into empowering him goes wrong. It's implied he may have a nicer side deep down, but it's never explored beyond that scene.
  • Pet the Dog: On the receiving end. After an entire episode of deceiving the Power Players, they let him go (much to his own surprise) as he still helped protect them out of his own volition.
  • Power Floats: His power allows him to fly, though it's not very high considering he's a toy, reaching to approximately Axel's height in human form.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Wind him down and you've got him beat in all but words.

    Princess Sugar Salt

A fairy princess doll with a wand, brought to life by Madcap. Debuts in "Swing Set Jet Set".

  • Ambiguous Disorder: She definitely seems to have some form of split personality disorder, accompanied by her colors inverting from green to pink/magenta and vice versa.
  • Charm Person: It's suggested that she can influence people into doing things they wouldn't normally do, such as using a spell to make Axel and Cleo get along as well as the Power Players accept her into their games (to get them to obey her). It's never expanded whether her spell did work or if it was just a result of Cleo and Axel actually bonding with the Power Players merely bitter enough to believe her lies (though Zoe believes it's the former).
  • Master of Illusion: When charged with Minergy, her wand can summon her targets' worst fears, the illusions being both physical to the touch and vocal.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Played With. When her hair is pink, she's sickenly sweet and potentially annoying, and when it's green, she's downright chillingly violent.

    Ice Crusher

A toy brought to life by Madcap. He debuts in "Porcupunk Rock".

  • Affably Evil: He serves Madcap and hinders the heroes, but he occasionally shows honor in defeat and wouldn't be all that bad of a fellow if he wasn't loyal to Madcap.
  • Dumb Jock: Many of the heroes' schemes involve fooling him in relatively simple manners.
  • An Ice Person: He can shoot blasts of ice.

    Dr. Nautilus

A green cephalopod-like monster toy Madcap brought to life. Made his debut in "Bobbie Not Blobby".

  • The Beastmaster: For the duration of an episode, he becomes this, forcing Bearbarian and Orangutank into acting like wild animals under his control.
  • The Starscream: Despite being a member of Madcap's army, he holds no respect for him. Once he successfully takes over the city in "Thirst for Power", he makes Madcap his lackey.
  • Vile Villain, Laughable Lackey: Though he can show himself to be a menace by stealing Bobbie's suit and grow unbeatable vines through the sewers, he can hardly stand his ground on his own without the Power Players or his fellow villains mocking him.

    Serge Cherge
A Sarge Charge lookalike that was stuck in Madcap's box during the Origins and who had the misfortune of remaining there for a good half of the first season.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: If his design and named hadn't clued you in, he's this to Sarge. Take all the expertise and give it to a self-interested, resentful and bossy general, you have yourself an evil bootleg to Sarge.
  • Face–Heel Turn: While we're not exactly shown much of who he was before, being repeatedly imprisoned and shoved into areas he cannot escape from convinced him of seeing the Power Players as his enemies, even going as far as overthrowing Madcap in his second appearance.

Others

    Andrew

Voiced by (English): Scott Whyte

Axel's uncle. Once a renowned toymaker, he quit for unknown reasons, but continues to create and repair toys.

  • Classy Cane: He walks around with a cane, one that he appears to have built himself.
  • Cool Uncle: He makes revolutionary toys.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Despite knowing about the toys' existence, he seems to be out of the loop on them being alive and free. Or so we're led to believe.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: Reveals himself in the finale to be aware of Axel's double life all along.

    Zoe

Voiced by (English): Reba Buhr

The daughter of Andrew's neighbors, who are old friends of Andrew.

  • Ambiguously Brown: Zoe is dark-skinned, but it's not clear what her ethnicity is.
  • Girl Next Door: Zoe is the daughter of Andrew's neighbor. For whatever reason, she's allowed to hang at Andrew's house as if she were related to him, presumably due to her father's connection to him.
  • Muggle Best Friend: Though she has no powers of her own, she's this to Axel and the Power Players. In one episode, she tries to join the group by attempting to create her own suit, but it goes about as well as you'd expect.
  • Not So Above It All: Her rivalry with Cleo is pretty much Zoe breaking out of her role as the responsible one just to teach her a lesson.
    • She also is all too giddy to join in with the Power Players be it as her own made-up persona Action Zoe or by recruiting all the secondary toys available to the rescue.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue to Axel's red. She's usually the voice of reason whenever Axel is about to do something incredibly foolish and serves as damage control.
  • Refusal of the Call: When Axel gives her his Power Bandz in the midst of a battle, she doesn't feel confident enough to put them on and use them, and ends up returning them instead.
  • Rousing Speech: Manages to motivate the All-New-All-Different Power Players into saving Axel's team once they've formed, making her its leader.
  • Secret-Keeper: In the first episode, Zoe learns about the living toys and helps Axel keep them a secret from his uncle.

    Luka

Voiced by (English): Aleks Le

A neighbor and friend of Axel and Zoe.

    Cleo LeBall
A rival of Zoe who loves competition.
  • Composite Character: Her name, blonde hair teasing attitude and rivalry with the main female character bring to mind Chloé Bourgeois, but her tendency to challenge others and friendlier side also bring to mind Kagami Tsurugi, albeit she's more socially apt and much younger than both girls.
  • Dub Name Change: In the French dub, her last name is LaBalle.
  • Friendly Rivalry: She has this with Zoe at times, and surprisingly also Axel. When she's not being too competitive or helps someone practice, there may be a few harsh words exchanged, but she can be nice when she tries.
  • Graceful Loser: Though she's pretty tough as an opponent, she's actually pretty impressed by Zoe and respects when she's given a good enough challenge.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Teases and makes fun of Zoe and Axel whenever she faces them, but when not competing, she can actually be a pretty cool friend to hang out with.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Just like Luka, she has no idea about Axel's double life as a toy hero.
  • The Rival: Considers herself this to Zoe.

    Joyride
Zoe's favorite toy, a samurai robot tank.
  • Dub Name Change: Is named "Ronin" in the French dub.
  • Expy: Appearance-wise, he seems like a samurai take on Upgrade.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: Initially against the Power Players, he decides to leave for a journey after realizing Madcap used him. He doesn't return to help out until much later.
    • Heel–Face Turn: Eventually after a couple of missions helping out, he finally decides to join the team.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Has a power sword that can also function as a cannon.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Takes a blow to protect Zoe and ends up drained of his Minergy after the fact in the season finale. The Stinger implies he'll get better after some fixing.
  • Meaningful Name: His French dub name "Ronin" is an allusion to rōnins, a type of samurai from medieval Japan lacking a master, mirroring his initial wish to be a free toy, without being owned by Zoe, Madcap or Axel.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Minus the zombie, he's a robot samurai who can become a tank, and float on water like a boat.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Zoe, once he remembers how much she cares about him.

    Rufin
A schoolmate of Axel and Zoe who loves toys, to the point of stealing them from other kids. He dubs himself the Toy Thief.
  • The Bully: To Axel in human form. Because he's taller and physically stronger, he loves to intimidate him.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Participates in the soapbox race in "The Best Team" with another kid.
  • Engineered Public Confession: With the use of the Power Bandz and his night suit, Axel tricks Rufin into confessing he steals from other children while at the flea market well after closing hour. This gets him caught by the security guard.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: He deduces that since Axel knows about him stealing one of Andrew's collector toys, and since his theft was slowed down by two very talkative toys... Axel must've been the ones controlling them. Justified as he ignores Galileo and Action Axel's true nature.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Uses remote control commands to steal toys, was able to reprogram a VR headset into sending hypnotic waves to distract Axel's uncle and has many other tricks in store.
  • Shadow Archetype: To Axel. While Axel loves toys, he'd never go as far as stealing them from anyone and doesn't mock them. Rufin on the other hand views taking toys by any means necessary as a challenge and won't hesitate to rob Luka from his entire teddy bear collection.
  • Token Human: the only actual human antagonist of the show and a minor villain.

    Bot-Guy
A robotic superhero from Axel's favorite comic book, occasionally brought to life by Minergy.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Downplayed on the kung-fu part, but he's pretty self-absorbed and isn't above snubbing Axel's admiration of him or following Madcap's lead if it gets him to the real world.
  • The Bus Came Back: Was a oneshot villain until Zoe used a Minergy battery to bring him out and make him join their temporary superhero team.
  • But Now I Must Go: Returns to his world after he and the All-New-All-Different Power Players manage to save the main Power Players.
  • It's All About Me: Acts self-centered when meeting Axel for the first time, and if it weren't for Zoe motivating him into action, he'd remain reading his own adventures on Axel's copy of his comic book.
  • Was Once a Man: His backstory in his comic book suggests he used to be a human but became a robot after an incident.

    The Scratch Pack Cats
Three adorable cat plushies, known as Orange Cat (Super Stealthy) Brown Tabby (Little Wild) and Grey Scratch(The Grumpy One), owned by Zoe.
  • Cats Are Mean: When brought to life by Minergy, they scratch Axel a couple of times and even try to steal his Power Bandz to cause trouble.
  • Mind-Control Eyes: They can hypnotize opponents into singing their favorite lullaby and play along with them.
  • Token Heroic Orc: Orange Cat, albeit it's only under Zoe's commanding when it's recruited to save the Power Players from Rufin.
