A country now ruled by magicians, it was formerly known as the "Musta'sim Kingdom". It once had an elaborate Wizarding School, but when the magicians decided they were no longer just the royal family's tools, they revolted and overthrew the kingdom. Now they are one of the major powers of the world, but not all is as it seems. Princess Dunya Musta'sim was once part of the royal family. Yamraiha studied there as a child and the Chancellor was her adoptive father.
Magnostadt Academy Teachers
The Chancellor of the Magnostadt Magic Academy. He may be behind the "abnormalities" in Magnostadt, especially because he helped depose the Musta'sim Royal Family, though he also seems to be a nice person.
- Alliterative Name: Mattal Moghamett.
- Anti-Villain: Not a bad guy, just really, really really biased.
- The Atoner: Because he knows there is no current way to save the people he had allowed to fall into depravity to fuel the medium, he decides to remain with them to atone rather than rejoin the white Rukh.
- Became Their Own Anti Thesis: Who does he want to protect? The answer has changed with time.
- Benevolent Mage Ruler: Though he claims to only be the director of the Academy, it's very clear that he's in charge of Magnostadt. Actually not so benevolent, as we find out.
- Curtains Match the Windows: In his youth, he had purple hair to match his purple eyes.
- Dark and Troubled Past: His wife died from magic overuse many years ago, forced by the Musta'sim Royal Family to serve the people with the other magicians. His daughter died during a war with the Parthevia Empire, beginning his Start of Darkness.
- Despair Event Horizon: With the death of so many magicians in the war with Reim, he's fallen into depravity and no longer wishes to protect the Goi and only desires to protect the magicians.
- Doting Parent: He was this towards both his biological daughter Sana and his adoptive daughter Yamraiha. He also behaves like this towards all the magicians, no matter what he'll always forgive them. Word of God claims that this is not a good parental trait.
- Facial Markings: Has some pretty extreme "freckles" that (ironically, given his view that as a magician he's better than non-magicians, who are lower than animals) make him look reptilian.
- Fantastic Racism: From his perspective all non-magicians ("goi") are grotesque subhuman creatures only capable of savagery. He lets Titus take Marga to the surface because in his eyes she's no better than a stray kitten, and even uses words normally used for animals when talking about her. The fact that all of Musta'sim's Muggle population are kept in underground slums, being drained of their ruhk as though they were cattle, certainly doesn't help. When he decided to turn himself into a Dark Djinn, all he needed to do to blacken his ruhk was to walk down into these slums by himself, his indomitable hatred for them enough for him to fall.
- A Father to His Men: He acts as a paternal figure to all the magicians.
- Freudian Excuse: Treats Muggles as cattle because their greed and stupidity resulted in the deaths of his wife and daughter.
- Gag Nose: Which in turn wasnt as big when he was young.
- Heel–Face Turn: Stops hating the Goi and realizes he'd been wrong about them thanks to Titus' sacrifice.
- Humans Are the Real Monsters: His belief. For overusing her magic to help the Goi, first his wife died and for fighting until exhaustion for the Royal Family, and then his daughter died; so you can see why.
- I Was Quite a Looker: Could you believe Mogamett was this handsome?
- Kick the Dog: Kicks some children that wanted to go to the surface with Marga, a sick little girl Aladdin and Titus befriend among the 200,000 muggles powering Magnostadt's magical tools.
- Killed Off for Real: Became a charred corpse after coming into contact with the Medium once it emerged from the other side of the tunnel.
- Knight Templar: Unleashing three Dark Djinn...
- Magic Staff: A really big wooden one.
- Moral Myopia: Would never, ever abide magicians being used as weapons by the Goi, but is ready and willing to do the same thing in reverse. When called on it, he merely says that magicians inherently superior, ergo they can do whatever he wants with those who aren't.
- Outliving One's Offspring: He lost his daughter, Sana, to one of the wars that the Musta'sim Kingdom took part in.
- Papa Wolf: To him, all magicians are his children, no matter who, or even WHAT, they are and it doesn't matter who he makes his enemy, he will protect them till his last breath. Non-magicians not so much.
- Parental Substitute: Though, he considers all magicians as his children, he was this especially to Yamraiha.
- Pet the Dog:
- He hates the Goi with an unhealthy fervour, he would protect his students with that same fervour.
- In later chapters, he states that everyone inside Magnostadt will be under his protection, magician or not, until the death of many magicians made him reconsider.
- He develops a soft spot for Titus, and after he learns about the boy's condition makes it a point to protect him from Reim.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: He seems fine with Aladdin and the others going down to the 5th Authorization District even when they aren't supposed to, but something's definitely up with him.
- If one is a magician, he's ready to forgive and forget; anyone else, though, is screwed.
- The Right of a Superior Species: He justifies his draining of Goi of their life force because magicians are superior, and thus can do what they wish the lesser ones.
- Social Darwinist: Believes that magicians are inherently superior in every way to the Goi. He doesn't even consider the "Goi" as human beings.
- Wizard Beard: The longest beard on all Magi.
- Would Hurt a Child: Needlessly kicked a couple of children.
One of Aladdin's magic professors. She's a yellow magician and she's the only known magician to have a stronger body than normal. She and her brother are the only known magicians to use whips instead of the common staff to perform magic. She teaches the 6th Kodor, which is mostly physical training.
- Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Was willing to fight her own brother to protect her students but while Mogamett was giving his Rousing Speech about protecting their families, she took her brother's hand.
- Badass Cape: Fitting for such a good fighter.
- Buxom Beauty Standard: She has a busty figure that Aladdin often gets distracted by.
- Chainmail Bikini: Wears a rather... striperiffic armor. Justified, as she uses Borg to protect herself.
- Dressed Like a Dominatrix: Her outfit consists of a corset-like breastplate, a metal thong and thigh high boots. She also fights with a whip to complete the image.
- Hot-Blooded: Very prone to hitting students over minor mistakes.
- Hot Teacher: Aladdin really only passes her class because he was reinvigorated every time he saw her boobs.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She can be a bit of a bitch and her training methods are extremely brutal, and she has nothing but scorn for those who drop out of her training. However, she gives her full respect to those who have the guts to see it through to the end, and she is proud like a mother is proud when her students do well, especially in Aladdin's case.
- Kung-Fu Wizard: In addition to being a good magician, she is an excellent martial artist. She was the one who trained Aladdin in martial arts.
- Lady of War: Leads the magicians in the battle against Reim. In Adventure of Sinbad, she and her brother were part of La Résistance lead by Serendine against Barbarossa.
- Lightning Lash: She can channel electricity through her whip.
- Ms. Fanservice: Enough to make Aladdin focus in her classes.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Helps Aladdin when he wanders into the 5th Authorization District before the disciplinary mages can kill him, her own brother among them.
- Red Baron: The "Thunder Whip Magician."
- Sergeant Rock: Her tutelage is tough, borderline sadistic at times, but quite reasonable and she really cares about her students' development.
- Shock and Awe: Specializes in lightning magic.
- Shoulders of Doom: Her "armor" is just shoulders and a bikini.
- Stern Teacher: Puts the students entrusted to her through Training from Hell to improve their overall magic and physical capabilities.
- Tears of Joy: When her students pass their tests, she's proud of them enough to cry.
- Whip of Dominance: She is known as "Thunder Whip Magician" due to the fact her Magic Wand takes the form of a thunder whip. She's known for her strict and brutal teacher who puts her students through Training from Hell, and she often disciplines her students by giving them a taste of her whip. She also just so happens to be a Hot Teacher whose Stripperiffic outfit resembles that of a dominatrix.
- Chained by Fashion: His navel piercing has a long chain attached to it.
- Collared by Fashion: Wears a spiked collar.
- Eyes Out of Sight: His eyes are almost always covered.
- Green Thumb: Can create man-eating plants with his magic whip.
- Social Darwinist: Believes that Muggles are trash.
- When He Smiles: His face actually shines when he does smile.
- Black Mage: Who studies Black Magic.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Towards Mogamett, and is jealous of Aladdin for having been able to have a tea party with him.
- Goggles Do Something Unusual: Her glasses are actually magical tools.
- Heroic BSoD: She's horrified that the black Rukh that she was studying was used to destroy Magnostadt.
- High-Class Glass: It's a magical tool.
- Hollywood Acid: "Sharrar Merra", acid rain.
- Stalker Shrine: Has a room with walls filled with Mogamett's photos.
Magnostadt Academy Students
Aladdin's classmate and roommate at the Magic Academy, and the heir of an impoverished, noble family from Heliohapt. After Titus succeeds Scheherezade's position as the Reim Empire's magi, Sphintus and his entire family move there to serve as Titus's magicians doctors.
- Ambiguously Brown: Subverted. Like Sharrkan, he comes from Heliohapt, the Fantasy Counterpart Culture to Ancient Egypt, so his dark skin is justified.
- Big Brother Mentor: When he's not making disparaging remarks, he acts very mentor-like towards Aladdin and Titus. Comes with the territory of being older than them.
- Blue Blood: He's a member of a noble family that used to serve the royal family of his country.
- Dark Secret: His family used to be assassins for the Royal Family, killing people with diseases.
- Friend to All Children: He's very friendly with Marga, and even looks after her after Titus dies.
- Gravity Master: He has the ability to fly.
- Head Pet: His pet snake, Kukulcan.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He can be an arrogant prick at times, but underneath that he's a good, deeply altruistic young man who values all lives equally, and once you earn his respect, he's one of the best friends you could ask for.
- Meaningful Name: Sphintus' name is similar to that of a creature from Egyptian mythology, the Sphinx. His last name can mean Magic Spell or Song in Latin.
- The Medic: And a particularly skilled one.
- Mystical White Hair: He has white hair, and he's a magician.
- One-Note Cook: Surprisingly for a member of royalty, he's able to cook. Less surprisingly, he's just able to cook his specialty.
- Red Mage: He knows a bit of magic besides Healing magic.
- Royals Who Actually Do Something: He's the youngest child of one of Heliohapt's noble families who left his country to train himself as a mage. He eventually took a supporting role in Magnostadt's war with Reim.
- Smoking Is Cool: He smokes what appears to be a Midwakh, and he looks damn fine◊ while he's at it. This was removed from the anime.
- Supreme Chef: When it's his speciality.
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Sphintus basically became the new Alibaba for Aladdin while he was in Magnostadt.
- Uncatty Resemblance: Between him and Kukulcan somewhat.
One of Aladdin's classmates at the Magic Academy, who originally came from Reim. With Aladdin, he is the top student at the school, and also like Aladdin, was sent on a mission to find the "abnormalities" of Magnostadt. He is working under the Magi Scheherazade.
- Artificial Family Member: He's Scheherezade's Opposite-Sex Clone. Just like Scheherezade thinks of him as her son, Titus views Scheherezade as his mother.
- Artificial Human: Titus is one of the many clones of Scheherazade created by separating a small portion of her flesh and bones from her body and infusing it with her magic.
- Back from the Dead: He eventually decided to use all of his Magoi in a Heroic Sacrifice, but he is resurrected courtesy of Solomon and Scheherazade, and comes back as a Magi.
- Berserk Button: Mistaking him for a girl. Or messing with Marga.
- Broken Ace: He's a genius magician, but had serious issues due to the fact that he's an Artificial Human with a short lifespan and only a finite amount of Magoi.
- Came Back Strong: When he comes back, it's as a Magi—meaning unlimited Magoi and a natural lifespan.
- Clone Degeneration: The real reason as to why Scheherazade is unable to prolong his lifespan.
- Clone Angst: He hates being a clone, especially because he knows he will have to die soon. He doesn't want to die yet, so he tries to find a way to get supplies of Magoi from a different source besides Scheherazade, and be able to live a normal life.
- Cute and Psycho: Has a few shades of it. First shown with his attacking Aladdin from panic when he saw the gems on his wrists. And later he became increasingly unstable from jealousy toward Aladdin and the others, due to the fact that they'll live on while he won't.
- Disney Death: Scheherazade allowed his ego to be reincarnated as the next Magi, rather than herself.
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: Due to him having a high pitched voice and a big butt,Aladdin actually gropes his chest to confirm if he's really a guy when they first meet. His feminine appearance starts to make a lot of sense when he's revealed to be an Opposite-Sex Clone of Scheherazade.
- Elemental Powers: Comes with being a magician.
- Gravity Master: And with this, he can achieve Flight.
- Light 'em Up: Created a shield of light magic to protect Marga.
- Expendable Clone: Scheherazade seemingly appears to only want to keep Titus alive for the short period he is supposed to be spying for her. Subverted since it's later revealed that she really desires for Titus to live, but due to the fact that Scheherazade's real body is dying neither her recent clone nor Titus have much time left.
- Fallen Hero: For a while, before his Heroic Sacrifice.
- Ghost Memory: When Scheherazade has him reincarnated in her place, he gains her memories.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold
- Hazy-Feel Turn: Mogamett promises to supply him with Magoi to keep his existence, so he offers to fight to protect Magnostadt against the Reim Empire; ergo, his original country, his people and Scheherazade. Then he learns that the original Scheherazade will soon die and when that happens all her clones (including him) will perish as well anyway so he sacrifices his life to stop Mogamett from draining the Goi to death. After succeeding Scheherazade's position as a Magi, he returns to Reim.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Instead of waiting peacefully for his short life to end while all hell breaks loose, he is inspired by Marga to use the rest of his power (and his life) to help fix things up. Although his Magoi ends up being used to fuel Al-Thamen's father and unleashed it upon the world and Mogamett who he was finally able to free from his own hatred ends up dying at the Father's hands seconds later, this sacrifice eventually let Mogamett disrupt the Medium since he was the center that controlled it. Titus is later resurrected courtesy of Solomon and Scheherazade.
- A Hero Is Born: As of Chapter 198, where it's revealed that King Solomon is still very much active behind the scenes, can choose where and when the next Magi reincarnates, and can do so immediately. He could have even sent Scheherazade back using one of her clones, but she insisted that Titus be the one.
- Kind Hearted Cat Lover: His hobby is playing with cats.
- Lady of Black Magic: Rare male example. He fits this trope because of his appearance and personality.
- The Mole: He originally came from Reim to spy and find information about Magnostadt.
- Mundane Object Amazement: "A baby! A mother! A cat!" It becomes extremely saddening when you realize he really was discovering all of this for the first time, due to his status as an Artificial Human who will only live for a month longer, at most.
- Nice Guy: More or less thanks to Marga's influence, he's a kind person at heart. In fact, his kind personality and beliefs is why Aladdin and Titus became quick friends.
- Opposite-Sex Clone: He's one of Scheherazade's clones created from her rukh, but he has the body of a man. He's rather self-conscious about it and gets angry when people remark his feminine appearance.
- The Rival: To Aladdin, although it falls more into the lines of Friendly Rivalry.
- Royal Rapier: Uses one as a Magic Wand.
- Stripped to the Bone: After using the last of his power to stop the Magoi furnace and purify Mogamett, all that's left of him is a skeleton.
- Tyke-Bomb: Scheherazade created him for the sole purpose of sending a dependable magician to find the abnormalities of Magnostadt.
- Unwanted Rescue: After Titus allies himself with Mogamett, Scheherazade declares war against Magnostadt to take Titus back under the assumption he's a hostage. Titus isn't happy about this.
- The World Is Just Awesome: Well he is just a year old.
- Your Days Are Numbered: Because Scheherazade created him, she supposedly supplies him with only enough Magoi to live long enough to complete his goal. But the truth is that neither Titus nor Scheherazade have much time left to live, as her real body is dying.
- Adaptation Expansion: The anime gives her more screen time, as well as several extra lines.
- Blow You Away: She is best at wind magic.
- Dual Wield: She is the only magician shown wielding two staves.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: In the anime, she doesn't have much patience for people who quite the harsh physical training; but is shown congratulating Aladdin both when he wins a 1st Kodor badge, and when he earns a special seat.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Like most of Aladdin's classmates, nothing is known about what happened to her after the battle, other than a single scene showing she was still alive.
- Adaptation Dye-Job: In the manga he appears to have light hair, but the anime gives him red hair.
- Adaptation Expansion: Just like Sai Lin's entry, the anime expanded his character.
- Love Interest: According to the Official Guidebook, Sai Lin likes him.
- Making a Splash: He specializes in Water Magic.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Once again, just the same as Sai Lin's entry.
Citizens
A child from the 5th Level Authorization District who Titus takes under his wing.
- Book Worm: She really likes books and studying. Her dream is to one day become a scholar.
- Morality Pet: To Titus. Thanks to her, he becomes a nicer and more open person.
- Muggle: Through her, we see just how badly the Goi can be treated.
- Nice Girl: Titus wouldn't be a Nice Guy if it wasn't for her naturally kind and selfless personality.
- The Not-Love Interest: She helps Titus come to terms with himself. Though it seems she has plans to change the 'not' part in about ten years.
- Precocious Crush: Implied towards Titus.
- Wise Beyond Her Years: Acknowledged by Titus as such after she gives him a speech about how she would prefer to give her life fighting to keep save this "sparkling world" Titus has opened to her than have stayed in the 5th district, waiting her life to fade without achieving any of her dreams since such a life is no better than being dead. This inspires Titus to do the same.
- The World Is Just Awesome: Because she has lived underground all her life and didn't expect it to be a long life, she goes gaga over pretty mundane things.
- You Remind Me Of Myself: Her life imprisioned, her short lifespan and desire of knowing the exterior, reminded Titus of himself.
- Action Girl: As an adult she was forced to fight in the wars that the Musta'sim Kingdom took part in.
- Curtains Match the Windows: Purple eyes and purple hair just like her father.
- Cynicism Catalyst: Her tragic death was this for her father.
- Died in Your Arms Tonight: She died in Mogamett's arms.
- Missing Mom: Her mother died as she was forced to use her magic until her Magoi's exhaustion.
