NYPD 34th Precinct

    John "Sleepy" Estes

The titular Mad Bull himself, a ruthless and near unstoppable super cop feared and hated by all of New York City's extensive criminal underworld. While many would question his methods, they can't say that his particular form of cowboy justice doesn't keep the mean streets of the Big Apple at least a little safer for its many vulnerable civilians. His many years on the force putting away violent scum has made him multiple enemies, and he's constantly being targeted for assassination, but always manages to find a way to come out on top. To his enemies he's a near unkillable monster, but to the everyday citizens of New York, as he often serves as an unlikely savior and hero.

  • Arson, Murder, and Lifesaving: This is practically all he does as a hero, as he brutalizes criminals, albeit the ones who DO get brutalized are unrepentant monsters made to be despised, and the less monstrous ones get far more tame and peaceful deaths, is a pervert who sleeps with a different sex worker and sometimes even more than one of them everyday of his life, and even steals some money from them, but on the other side, he helps baby animals find homes, uses the money he takes and donates it to charities who help sex workers with severe STDs and victims of rape readjust to society, as well as using his reputation to protect the turf he claimed.
  • Anti-Hero: He has a lot of noble moments where he helps out the little guy, but his brutality against criminals, while genuinely justifiable due to almost all of them being unrepentant monsters, is still a vice of his, not to mention that he's also a pervert who probably sleeps with a different sex worker every day of his life.
  • Berserk Button: Whatever you do, do not weaponize animals against him. He has a soft spot for critters of all kinds and manipulating them or endangering them is a surefire way to get yourself in his crosshairs.
  • Combat Pragmatist: He's more than willing to use some Batman-esque tricks involving planning ahead of time for any possible scenario, such as turning a chair into a spiky death trap, which actually manages to do in a hitman who made the mistake of sitting on the converted chair, or modifying the pipes in his apartment so that they can be used as makeshift shotguns.
  • Cowboy Cop: His defining characteristic. Sleepy is the kind of officer to shoot first and maybe ask some questions after the body of the criminals he's facing have been reduced to swiss cheese and blood paint.
Sleepy: If they can still move you gotta keep pullin' the trigger until they lie down. (Slasher Smile)
  • Crazy-Prepared: Just how prepared one might ask? A dozen hand grenades tied to pubic hairs. That's how prepared. He also has the pipes in his apartment modified so that he can use them as makeshift shotguns.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He's notably disgusted at Tom DiMiyer threatening to take Arnold, a drug dealer that he and Eddie were interrogating to the school where the former's son went to, and showing Arnold off in front of his son's classmates.
  • Genius Bruiser: He seems like your fairly typical Dumb Muscle type at first, but soon reveals that he's actually pretty smart when it comes to avoiding assassination attempts and dealing with criminals. His brutality has gotten him in trouble a few times but no one can fault his quick thinking in the field.
  • Horrifying the Horror: He's notably scared of the Shaoliumang, a group of Chinese-American assassins who will stop at nothing to kill their targets, even if it means literally dying in the process.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • He is surprisingly wise and worldly in spite of being a crass and perverted tough guy at first glance, as he gives a small speech to Ricardo about how the relationship between criminals and their victims can often get morally grey where either side can be seen as justifiable in their actions, as he talks to him about an incident where a rich man gunned down a bunch of thieves aiming to rob him, pointing out that, while the rich man was justified in defending himself, the thieves themselves also might've been justified in attempting to steal from them, as they could have been incredibly poor and had no real opportunities to make money aside from stealing and robbing others.
    • He is notably upset to the point of softly crying when he finds out that Tom DiMiyer is actually associated with the mob and a Dirty Cop, and even notes to himself that even though he knew Tom was a fishy and untrustworthy man, he genuinely wanted to respect him.
    • He also has a soft spot for animals, as he's seen with an overjoyed look on his face in the Harness Bull arc as he gently carries around six kittens in his hands and fawns over how cute they are to Eddie, stating his intention to give the sweet little furballs a loving home. This actually comes into play, as Spisek and Nicol weaponize cats by forcing harnesses with one-bullet guns on them and spraying the copper with a substance that drives them crazy and causes them to attack him. Notably this pisses him the FUCK off, and he angrily blows Spisek and his gang to pieces with a shotgun once he finally catches them.
  • Ironic Name: He's called "Sleepy" but he's a very muscular man that likes to plan ahead of time for certain scenarios just for the sake of being prepared for them, and is overall very diligent and intelligent.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: It's hard not to see his brutal methods as justifiable, given that all of the criminals he and Eddie face off against are unrepentant scumbags. It helps that in spite of his brutality, he's no sadist and he at least gives the variety of crooks a quick and relatively painless death, contrasting with how they tend to kill their victims as slowly as possible for the sake of it.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: His methods are brutal and he can be pretty abrasive, but his heart is usually in the right place and he hates seeing innocent people get hurt and also cares about his friends a whole lot.
  • Made of Iron: He regularly takes abuse that would put any normal man in the hospital or the grave. Probably best shown where he straight up No Sells an improvised coffee can grenade in episode 2 or when he takes a knife to the chest and still finds time to screw one of his nurses in episode 1.
  • Master of All: Sleepy's strong, tough, intelligent, a great planner, a maker of ingenius traps, and a great shot too.
  • Nobody Calls Me "Chicken"!: After one of the SWAT members called to deal with the Capricorn Killer called Sleepy a chickenshit for purportedly showing cowardice before the enemy (by escaping the Capricorn Killer unharmed), both Daizaburo and Perrine had to hold him from going after his offending colleague's throat.
  • Rabid Cop: If he was in any other profession they would have arrested him years ago. He's the page picture.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Crosses over with Hidden Depths, but this big, tough actual action hero of a copper has a soft spot for small animals, especially cats.
  • Testosterone Poisoning: Imagine if someone took Kenshiro, Golgo 13, Chuck Norris and Duke Nukem and ground them all up into a blender, poured the resulting liquid into a steak and raw egg smoothie and topped the whole thing off with a shot of pure molten iron. That's Sleepy in a nutshell.
  • Mr. Vice Guy: He's a pervert who probably sleeps with sex workers every day of his life and is overly violent when it comes to dealing with criminals as well, but it's hard to say that the latter approach to dealing with criminals is unjustified, considering how depraved and merciless they are, and he's shown to not only be protective of sex workers, but actually compassionate towards them, given that he donates to charity to help sex workers who suffer from STDs and rape victims as well.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: His response to a teenaged member of the Shaoliumang aiming a gun at him is to attempt to reason with the kid and begging for him to hand it over, even though he was actively aiming to kill Sleepy.

    Daizaburo "Eddie" Ban

A rookie cop that is new to the force and had the misfortune of being assigned to not only the most dangerous police precinct in New York, but also getting a loose cannon like "Mad Bull" as his partner. In sharp contrast to his new mentor, Eddie is a much more sensitive and levelheaded individual who has a strong respect for the rules and initially sees Sleepy's behavior as dangerous, reckless, and immoral. After working a few cases and seeing just how bad crime has gotten in the city, however, he quickly comes to realize that there might be a method to Sleepy's madness after all, and together they quickly learn to grow as a team in spite of their drastically differing worldviews.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: Best shown in episode 3, when he and the news group are attacked by assassins armed with a chainsaw. After narrowly avoiding getting his head cut clean off when they saw through the top of his squad car, his reaction is to flip open the damaged roof and blow away both thugs with headshots that send them flying off their motorcycle. Mr. By-The-Book everyone.
  • But Not Too Foreign: He's a Japanese American with a Japanese name, but goes by the much more American sounding nickname "Eddie" sometimes.
  • Butt-Monkey: He spends a large portion of the first two episodes of the OVA getting knocked around and humiliated, which culminates in him coming within a razor's edge of being beaten to death at the end of the second episode. From episode 3 onwards he starts to get over this and is generally more competent.
  • By-the-Book Cop: He's almost Sleepy's complete polar opposite in every way. Naturally, this causes some friction between the two of them in the first episode where Eddie insists on following proper police procedures while Sleepy just goes around blowing everyone's head off.
  • Nice Guy: He generally does his best to keep Sleepy in check and will chew him out when he uses excessive force on petty crooks.
  • Took a Level in Badass: He grows more and more ruthless in order to survive the Wretched Hive he finds himself in and to protect Sleepy whenever he's in trouble.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: He threw up when he saw the mangled corpse of Lilly (who was murdered by Curtis for tipping off Sleepy about the former's designs on the latter's life), but he did it behind the door frame to the room where the crime happened.

    Perrine Valley

A former detective for the Queens PD who was recently transferred to the 34th precinct. She makes her debut in the second episode of the anime helping Eddie to catch a petty criminal who was taking a child hostage. After offering herself in place of the kid, she was able to catch the thug off guard and take him down, which leaves quite an impact on Eddie. After that she quickly becomes his love interest and helps the main duo bust crime out in the field. Despite her pretty face and kind demeanour, she is a skilled and experienced cop in her own right, and can hold her own in a fight.

  • Action Girl: She was a former detective for the Queens PD and is introduced tricking a small time thug into taking her hostage so she can disarm and capture him. She also knows several different types of martial arts.
  • Dirty Harriet: She poses as a sexy civilian woman twice to get criminals in episode 2. Once as a hostage at the beginning of the episode to save a child and later as part of a drug bust down at the docks.
  • Fair Cop: Eddie is immediately struck by her beauty during their first meeting. She even uses said beauty to outwit a criminal who had taken her hostage just a minute prior.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's a sexy buxom blonde who isn't afraid to use her attractiveness to distract and bring down criminals.

    Tom DiMiyer

A detective that was recently assigned to the 34th precinct to help the main cast bust up a ring of drug smugglers. Quick to show his true colors, he reveals himself to be a cruel and loathsome man who is perfectly willing to use dishonorable and underhanded tactics to achieve his goals. In addition to making threats to drive a petty crook around his son's school in handcuffs to get information out of him, he also molests Perrine while the two are working undercover and takes all the credit for the ensuing drug bust in spite of hightailing it out of the scene as soon as things starting getting violent and leaving the others to fend for themselves. Unsurprisingly, he ultimately turns out to being working for Don Enrico as a mole, and attempts to escape after the Don is killed, leading to his arrest at the hands of Perrine and Sleepy.

  • Animal Motifs: To a degree, he has one with snakes, as he's highly untrustyworthy and predatorial, as well as cold-blooded. One of the first panels of him even has the illustration of a cobra as the backdrop, and another one not too long afterwards has him in front of an illustration of a rattlesnake in the process of eating a rodent.
  • Bait the Dog: Perrine and Sleepy try to test him by seeing if he'll come to Sleepy's rescue by having Perrine pretend to be an assassin who is out to kill Sleepy, and he kicks the knife out of Perrine's hand, but then reveals shortly afterwards that he knew what they were doing due to recognizing the smell of Perrine's perfume.
  • Cigar Chomper: One of the first things he does upon appearing onscreen is light up a cigar and blow smoke in the face of a thug he's interrogating.
  • Dirty Cop: He eventually reveals himself to be on Don Enrico's payroll, mockingly telling Perrine that the Don pays better than the NYPD. Not that he really bothered to hide his true nature all that much anyway...
  • Dirty Coward: When the bullets start flying down at the dock drug bust, he grabs the evidence he needs while the smugglers are distracted and leaves Sleepy, Eddie and Perrine to fend for themselves, and later takes all the credit for the bust himself. Later, while Sleepy is dealing with Don Enrico and his men, DiMiyer makes his escape with the drugs while everyone is distracted, and attempts to make his escape via police chopper. Luckily, Sleepy and Perrine manage to ambush him and take him down.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: When Sleepy and Perrine try to test him by having the latter pretend to be an assassin about to kill a resting Sleepy, he comes to Sleepy's rescue and kicks the knife out of Perrine's hand, making it look like he does have a good side to him after all, only for it to be revealed that he was both completely aware that Sleepy was never in danger to begin with as he recognized Perrine by the scent of her perfume, and that he's also associated with the mafia as well.
  • Slimeball: The man can't seem to go more than a minute without doing something to remind everyone around him that he's a complete scumbag. In addition to abandoning his team during a firefight and taking all the glory for the resulting drug bust he attempts to rape Perrine while the two are undercover and is eventually be revealed to be working for the main antagonist of the episode. After his boss dies he immediately tries to skip town with a briefcase full of stolen drugs and is finally taken down by Sleepy and Perrine.
  • Smug Snake: He's overconfident to the point that he outright tells Perrine that he considers her, Sleepy and Eddie to be expendable and attempts to rape her when they go undercover. When his boss gets killed by Sleepy he immediately tries one last desperate attempt to escape with a huge stash of the confiscated drugs only to get his ass kicked by Perrine and hauled off to jail.

Criminals, Hitmen, and Crime Bosses

    In General
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: A lot of them abuse and even kill animals to remind the readers that they aren't meant to be liked at all in any capacity.
  • Hate Sink: Nearly all of them are EXTREMELY repugnant individuals, such as rapists, sadists, animal abusers or several of the above.
  • Sadist: They often kill their victims in slow and painful ways just to cause fear and suffering.
  • Tragic Villain: The few of them that aren't Hate Sinks have ONE hell of a tragic backstory that's lead to them becoming the way they are now, and aside from being ordinary people with the resources to even become a villain, they are sometimes even outright morally upstanding people who have turned to evil, or are just so desperate for a purpose that they've turned to crime.

    Derringer Club Owners
A pair of men who operate a business selling maps to women's homes to rapists under the masquerade of a Derringer Club that apparently arms, and trains women in the use of Derringers for self-defense, only to sabotage the Derringers themselves in secret so the women are unable to fight back when the criminals they sell maps too come after them to rape them.
  • Big Guy, Little Guy: One of them's tall, the other's short.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: To the eye of the public, they're a pair of kind-hearted men looking out for the safety of women everywhere, when in actuality they're a pair of rapists who make a business off of selling maps to other criminals looking for women to rape, and even make their Derringers faulty so their victims can't fight back.
  • Gonk: Both of them, the taller one is balding and has a head shaped like a sack of potatoes, while the smaller one looks like a goblin.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Their club advertises itself as a place where women can learn self-defense and how to use firearms properly. In reality, it's all just a front for their shady criminal dealings of selling maps to the houses of their customers to rapists and making snuff films of the women they attack and victimize. The guns they offer are also faulty and don't even work properly, leaving all their clients completely helpless when they decide to make their move.

    "Black Rose" Curtis

A fearsome hitman known for his distinctive rose tattoo who is back in town to murder the legendary Mad Bull. After attempting to kill Eddie and Sleepy at a gas station by having a minion cut the oil line on their squad car, he thinks he's successfully dispatched the two of them when the car crashes in a fiery explosion. Unbeknownst to him or his underling, the duo survived by faking their deaths, and confront him on the subway for one final showdown. After a heated battle, he is finally killed by Sleepy tearing his head off via a high speed subway car, putting an end to the bastard for good.

  • Asshole Victim: His death by getting decapitated by a moving train is objectively horrifying, but he's a brutal and unreptetant sadist.
  • Cigar Chomper: He's usually seen smoking a cigar while relaxing.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He bids Lily a fond farewell as he leaves her to die in his homemade deathtrap. Even when he's acting friendly it doesn't take much to send him into a violent rage.
  • Evil Counterpart: Even though he appears early on and we don't see that much of him, he has a lot of eerie parallels with Sleepy, as both are part of an ethnic minority in the U.S.A. (the son of a family of Puerto Rican immigrants and an African-American of an otherwise unknown background, respectively), both are incredibly strong and powerful, as well as being highly intelligent and great at improvising weapons as well.
  • Evil Genius/Genius Bruiser: He clearly knows his chemistry, as he explained the deathtrap he used to kill Lily with to her using scientific terminology, as he tells her the science behind carbonation by explaining to her that any substance with a GV (Gas Value) of under 4 is safe, but the opposite is also true, as he further explains that the special carbonated acid in a bottle he's using to kill her has a GV of 5, making it super-explosive, and furthermore, detonates it by using the oven in the room they were in to heat it up. That being said, he's also physically strong enough to overpower Sleepy, and capture him in a bear hug, causing Eddie to step in with a revolver to save his pal's bacon.
  • Eye Scream: He gets the shards of his shades stuck in his eyes in the OVA.
  • Scary Black Man: He's only the first major antagonist in the series but his extremely brutal murder of Lily in episode one shows he's not a man who plays around.
  • Starter Villain: He's the first major criminal to pose a serious threat to Sleepy and Eddie in the OVA and serves as the main antagonist of episode one. That being said, he's ultimately just a common thug with a single lackey for support while all of the other main antagonists are much bigger players in New York's criminal underworld. (The later villains are a cyborg mafia boss, a millionaire serial rapist and a cop killer in advanced power armor.)
  • Super-Strength: He's strong enough to bend a bedframe with his bare hands and also gives Sleepy a lot of trouble in their climatic fight at the end of his arc.
  • Tattooed Crook: His main identifying feature is his rose tattoo on his right arm.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: His signature move is a bear hug.

    Nickel the Electrician

An African-American assassin who is a recurring nemesis of Sleepy. He has a puny body, but a bright mind, as well as enough connections to send a wide variety of hitman after his rival. He's also known for being diabetic and for urinating on things to let his enemies know he's around, due to the distinctive smell of rotting sugar that his urine has. Despite attempting to kill Sleepy multiple times, the copper lets him live so that he can track down whatever crook hired him so that he can destroy them and their group.

  • A Good Way to Die: Surpisingly, he peacefully passes away with no regrets, serenely crying tears of joy in Sleepy's arms after managing to get a one-up on him, confessing that he gave up on killing him a long time ago, and also admitting that he's grown to genuinely respect Sleepy over the many times they fought, and is glad that not only does Sleepy understand that, but also respects him back. This also makes him the only unrepentant criminal who doesn't have sympathetic backstory or excuse for their actions to earn a peaceful and dignified death, as Sleepy, Eddie, and Perrine all take him to a cathedral to give him a proper funeral, with them hanging a halo above his head and telling him to join the angels in heaven to pay tribute to the only hitman to survive more than one encounter with the Mad Bull, now residing in Heaven without regrets.
  • Affably Evil: Sure he might be able to kill other people without blinking an eye, but he comes across as being genuinely pleasant aside from his eccentric habit of urinating on things to warn his hits.
  • Arch-Enemy: He and Sleepy have a lot of history as bitter nemesises together.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: With his tendency to constantly piss on things, his obsessive love of coffee and other quirky personality traits he can easily seem like a complete joke at first. He's actually a pretty crafty hitman with legitimate skill in electronics and is one of the few criminals who's lived long enough to tango with Sleepy more than once.
  • Brains Evil, Brawn Good: Played With. While Sleepy's far from being an idiot, the methods that he and Nickel use contrast with eachother perfectly, as Sleepy fights face to face with his bare hands and whatever weapon he has on person, improvised or not, while Nickel uses his genius and creativity to create death traps and uses his connections to send hitmen after the Mad Bull.
  • Character Tics: Aside from urinating on things to make his presence known, he tends to give a cheerful wave goodbye when leaving the scene as well.
  • Combat Pragmatist: He prefers to use incredibly dangerous traps, such as making a doorknob into an impromptu zapper with tons of voltage.
  • Dramatic Irony: His death in the 30th chapter "Goodbye - Ya Con Dios", as the Electrician spends his last moments with his eternal nemesis, the Mad Bull Sleepy, not as bitter enemies, but two men who have grown to consider eachother friends, even if for a moment, due to Nickel passing away with a smile on his face. Sleepy, Eddie, and Perrine even pay their last respects to Nickel by taking him to a cathedral to give him a proper funeral, laying him down in a bed of flowers and suspending a light-up halo over his head, with a crying Sleepy telling him in complete and utter sincerity; to go join the angels.
  • Elemental Motifs: Electricity, as aside from hiring bigger, stronger, hitmen to deal with his targets, he likes to use death-traps that involve electricity, usually in the form of modifying electronics, or otherwise using electricity such as turning a lightbulb into a bomb, or making a door knob into a highly lethal zapper.
  • Foil: To Sleepy himself. Sleepy uses his high intelligence and craftiness to bolster his combat prowess and great physical strength, while Nickel uses his intelligence, resources, and connections to compensate for his complete and utter lack of physical prowess. Also, their bodies are the exact opposite to highlight just how much of an opposite they are to one another, as Sleepy is an extremely tall and muscular Latino man, while Nickel is a very short and very scrawny African-American man.
  • The Minion Master: To a degree. One of his favorite ways of trying to kill Sleepy is to summon much bigger and beefier hitmen after him, as he's no good in a direct fight.
  • Noble Demon: He might be a merciless, dangerous, hitman, but he's never outright mean or hostile towards Sleepy, and even has his own, bizarre sense of honor, as he views Sleepy as a Worthy Opponent to the point where he'll willingly help him out, albeit not without a catch, due to wanting to be the only man to defeat Sleepy, or warn him of any incoming danger.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: He looks like a black version of Jack Nicholson.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: One of the main reasons why he helps out Sleepy from time to time, aside from genuinely respecting him.
  • Pet the Dog: Because of his respect for Sleepy, he'll often actually warn him about other criminals attempts on his life.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Sweetened coffee. His introduction in the OVA even has him play a little game with Sleepy involving cans of the titular drink that have been rigged with explosives.
Nickel: You know me Sleepy, I've always been a sucker for coffee with sugar.
  • Trap Master: His name alludes to his preferred method of killing his victims via various traps and hazards that they never see coming. In particular, he is very skilled at rigging electronics and other similar devices to be lethal when interacted with.
  • Weak, but Skilled: He's puny, sure, but a crafty motherfucker who arguably outclasses Sleepy himself when it comes to improvising weapons, and even invented a super-effective, easy to use grenade that pack a punch.
    Spisek
A mobster who hired Nickel to kill Sleepy in the first half of the Harness Bull arc.
  • Fan Disservice: He's introduced as nearly naked except for a bowtie he wears. Yeuckh...
  • Gonk: He looks a gorilla that's starting mutate into a human being but suddenly stopped in the process.
  • The Hyena: He constantly laughs, even when he's angry.
    Don Enrico

A famous mob boss who was renowned and feared for running one of the biggest drug empires New York City has ever seen. After a police bust on his operation goes south, he was caught in a violent explosion and presumed dead, though he actually survived by being converted into a cyborg. Now he wants revenge on those responsible for his current predicament and enlists the help of a dirty cop and a large group of thugs to return his drug cartel to its former glory and crush anyone who stands against him.

  • Bad Boss: When one of his servants accidentally pours some wine on him he grabs the poor bastard's hand and crushes it while he's still holding the wine bottle. Even the other criminals sitting at the table who witness this happen are visibly disturbed by it.
  • Canon Foreigner: He's exclusive to the OVA, but many elements involved in his storyline are taken from canonical stories, such as Eddie taking a beating from a bunch of Scary Black Mooks for Perrine's sake and to buy time for Sleepy, and it should be noted that the designs of said mooks are directly taken from the manga, Nickel inventing a bunch of custom grenades which he keeps in coffee cans, as well as the unsurprising reveal that Tom DiMiyer was Evil All Along, yet instead of being in cahoots with an extremely elderly unnamed gangster, he's associated with Don Enrico.
  • Cyborg: His last encounter with Perrine and the NYPD left his body so thoroughly destroyed that he almost died from his injuries, though he ultimately managed to survive thanks to some advanced cybernetics.
  • The Don: He runs a massive drug empire and serves as the main antagonist of the second episode of the OVA.
  • Evil Cripple: His body was so damaged in an explosion that he is now confined to a wheelchair and has had a large percentage of his skin and organs replaced with cybernetics.
  • Handicapped Badass: He's wheelchair bound and has a heavy amount cybernetic prosthetics, but nearly chokes Sleepy to death with one hand.
  • Off with His Head!: Sleepy finishes him off by decapitating him with a thrown wooden table.
    Morley Edwards
A corrupt judge who got into hot water with the media for raping and murdering Linda Bernard, who has the reporter Jacqueline "Charging Jackie" Moyert in his sights for trying to bring him to justice.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: To a flat out cartoonish degree. Most other bad guys in this series get at least some form of motivation or characterization to explain their actions (such as greed or revenge) but he's one of the few who seems to enjoy being a villain just for its own sake as evidenced by a few of his lines in the 3rd OVA:
I love the color of red wine, it's just like freshly spilled blood!
Ah, that's sick. I've always hated goddamned happy endings!
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: He wears a pair of glasses and is one of the worst and most disgusting criminals ever faced by the main cast.
  • Hate Sink: Even by the standards of the other villains in the series, Morley is particularly nasty, as aside from being every bit as vile and despicable as you'd expect a Serial Rapist to be, he's also not above killing people's pets to send a message.
  • Sadist: He seems to enjoy raping and murdering countless innocent women just because he thinks he can get away with it.
  • Serial Killer: He's murdered all the women he's raped so far and sends hitmen after anyone who tries to bring his horrible crimes to light.
  • Serial Rapist: He's suspected of raping several women by the start of the episode he appears in. He has always managed to beat the charges through his money and connections until Jackie starts bringing more media attention to his crimes and forces the public to take notice.
    The Shaoliumang
A group of Chinese-American hitmen led by Bobby Wang who were hired by Morley Edwards to kill Jackie, as well as Sleepy and Eddie by extension, due to them taking it upon themselves to protect her. They are known for their nihlistic disregard for their own lives and aren't even discouraged by the prospect of death or injury, and are willing to die if it means killing their hits in the process, which manages to unsettle and horrify Sleepy, an otherwise courageous daredevil, of all people.
  • Not Afraid to Die: Their primary schtick. None of them fear death at all due to their nihilistic beliefs, and will do anything it takes to bump off their hits.
  • Straw Nihilist: What makes them so dangerous. They don't even care about their own lives, as Bobby downright states he's going to die in a gutter anyways, with the only reason why he took up the hitman business is because he wants to make money doing so.
  • Troubling Unchild Like Behavior: A lot of their members are teenagers and they're all a bunch of nihlistic hitmen who are perfectly willing to die if it means killing their hits. Makes you wonder what happened to them to become this wayinvoked.
  • We Have Reserves: Their other schtick. There are TONS of them, and every last one of them has zero fear of death.
    The Bear Pair
A husband & wife pair of hitmen known for their great height and strong fat bodies.
  • Animal Motifs: Bears. Duh. They're both extremely tall giants who are simultaneously fat and muscular, while the husband even looks like vaguely like a bear due to how hairy he is.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: The female half of the pair, combined with Amazonian Beauty and Statuesque Stunner. She's extremely tall and fat enough to have a notable double chin, as well as a strong and powerful body, but she also has the same gorgeous face that a lot of attractive female characters do.
  • Disney Villain Death: The female half bites it when she falls to her doom when Sleepy forces her out of the window with a refridgerator that presumably crushed her off panel.
  • Girly Bruiser: The wife of the duo is strong enough to crush a brick in one hand, but also is as feminine as she is strong, as she tends to give out a girly giggle ever so often and then.
  • Stout Strength: They're positively tremendous in size in both ways and in strength. The female half even demonstrates her strength by effortlessly crushing a brick in her hand with a genuine smile.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: The husband looks less like a man and more like a werewolf, and not the cool or attractive kind, while his wife is a Big Beautiful Woman.

    "Deathmask" Callahan
The publisher of the "Golden Soldier" magazine, which contains what are essentially classified ads for hitmen, as well as the main antagonist of the arc that derives it's name from the aformentioned magazine.
  • Improbable Weapon User: He and the Yuan Ming Yao Li Shan assassin are one and the same, so this trope automatically applies to him as well as he doesn't stop using the Nanjing Lily even after the reveal.
  • Hero Killer: He manages to kill Perrine, something that traumatizes Daizaburo.
  • Kill and Replace: He killed Donald "Boiled" Water and replaced him, running his business from within the Woodburn State Prison, due to their similarities.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Sleepy, Eddie, and Perrine are all nearly helpless against him due to him having the entire prison, inmates included, under his thumb and at his beck and call, not to mention he manages to kill Perrine.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Deathmask.
  • Master of Disguise: He has two disguises shown, Donald "Boiled" Water, his disguise when running the Burnwood State Prison, and the Yuan Ming Yao Li Shan assassin.
  • Second Super-Identity: He has three different identities. Donald "Boiled" Water, who he killed and replaced, the Yuan Ming Yao Li Shan assassin, which he uses as a disguise, and "Deathmask" Callahan, his true identity.
  • Walking Spoiler: Almost everything relating to him, aside from the fact that he's the publisher of the titular magainze in the "Golden Soldier" arc gives away a lot of information.
Yuan Ming Yao Li Shan Assassin
A mysterious assassin within the Woodburn State Prison. His weapon of choice is a razor-sharp Nanjing Lily, which he uses to execute people at random, complete with the dance and chant. For tropes applying to him as his true identity, see "Deathmask" Callahan.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He looks like a racist caricature with his buck teeth and slanted eyes, plus the fact that he goes through with the effort of actually doing the traditional chant and dance with the Nanjing Lily makes him even more bizarre, but he's 100% lethal and dangerous.
  • Eyes Always Shut: His eyes are constantly closed.
  • Improbable Weapon User: His iconic razor-sharp Nanjing Lily.
  • Morph Weapon: His Nanjing Lily is capable of taking on multiple shapes, such as a sword or a tomahawk, and even a snake!
  • Perpetual Smiler: He constantly has a buck-toothed smile on his face.
The Four Burnwood State Prison Ringleaders
The four ringleaders in the Burnwood State Prison. They are George Preston, an African-American former heavyweight boxer who was imprisoned for beating his opponents to death in the ring, Dirty Tiger, a white ex-pro wrestler, resembling Hulk Hogan who severely injured a fellow wrestler outside of the ring, got banned from pro wrestling, and then became a bodyguard for the Yakuza who killed three men. "Refrigerator" Bob, another African-American man, and a former professional football player who served as the defensive lineman for his team that killed his head coach in a fit of rage when the coach told him he stunk, and finally, Sammy Chan, an Asian-American man and former All-American Karate Champion, who was imprisoned for killing his co-star who made racist jokes about him being Asian and even stealing his girlfriend, causing him to snap and kick his co-star to death on-camera.
  • Boxing Battler: George Preston, the former heavyweight, natch.
  • Elite Four: The four strongest prisoners in the Burnwood State Prison, who all collectively manage to give Sleepy and friends hell.
  • Expy: George Preston looks like a black Sagat while Sammy Chan looks like Raoh with a mouth full of fangs.
  • Hoax Hogan: Dirty Tiger is a blantant copy of Hulk Hogan.
  • Token White: Dirty Tiger is the only one of them to be white, as George and Bob are both black, while Sammy Chan is asian.
  • Scary Teeth: For some reason, Sammy Chan has a mouth full of long fangs instead of normal teeth.
     "Refrigerator" Bob
The third of the Burnwood State Prison's Ringleaders. He has enough focus and character development to warrant his own folder.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He joins Sleepy and co. in the "Golden Soldier" arc.
  • I Know Madden Kombat: He fights using football moves such as tackles, and engages Sleepy in a violent match of charging at eachother like football players.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Judging by his nickname, race, and back-story as an ex-football player, he seems to be based off of William "The Fridge" Perry.
  • Token Good Teammate: He's the only one of the ringleaders to have a shred of decency or honor within him, and has genuinely fond memories of being a football player.
    Glen
An inmate at Burnwood State Prison. He's notable for willingly joining Sleepy of their own accord when the time comes to face off against "Deathmask" Callahan and the Ringleaders.
  • The Berserker: His fighting style. He's not above using his teeth to bite his enemies and in general fights like a vicious animal.
  • Offing the Offspring: He states that the reason he was imprisoned because he murdered his own son. It turns out that his son was a positively horrible person who was a rapist that beat people up, but even then, he was still traumatized by having to do it.
  • Power-Up Food: Deconstructed. Drinking alcohol has him become a vicious fighter... But only because it causes him to recall the time he had to kill his own son due to him being an incredibly violent rapist and alcoholic, which he associates with the memory of, and it sends him to an emotionally overloaded state of berserker rage.
