Mumei states in this stream that the decision to take down Dan Dan came from her end and is temporary. Should Executive Meddling entry be edited accordingly?

Should these two clips, [1] and [2], be added to Creator Backlash and Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things? Also Little Witch Nobeta got unsuccessfully review-bombed because of Hololive's casting, not sure if it's worth bringing up.

first clip seems like Discredited Meme to me, considering a large chunk of Kiara's "aggressive gayness" for Calli is Flanderization on the fandom's behalf

second clip seems to fit the bill, it reminds me of a minor incident where someone (i forget who) made a really tame plumber joke and Japanese Twitter lost their collective minds. the person who made the joke had to apologize for a non-issue essentially.

regarding little witch nobeta: imo documenting every single instance of hololive's Persona Non Grata status in China is probably going to end with TV Tropes inadvertently documenting a real person's death, because if you consider how people on Weibo act (read: they make 4chan look like the Salvation Army), that's probably literally what it's going to take for them to stop talking about it. either that or the editors who care about this issue are going to die of old age themselves. it's probably best to not waste too much energy on that topic.

I rewrote most of the entries for Contractual Purity. Not only was the whole thing far too long (might still be), but it had morphed into cataloguing each streamer's level of sexual talk, which isn't this trope (it's about being forbidden certain topics/behaviours, not keeping away from them for personal comfort). I leave it here in case any points are worth moving to other entries:

  • Contractual Purity: As can be expected of a group of virtual idols as well as youtube streamers, they all exhibit a level of self-control to avoid being too crude or overtly sexual. How strict they are depends on the character:
    • Sora, being one of the more traditional idols, tries to do things that are relatively tame compared to the others at hololive, not participating in streams revolving around drinking, sexual themes, or anything of the sort. That said, she's not disapproving of other idols who partake in such things. The only exception is her love of the horror genre and lack of reaction to things like gore. This seems to also extend to her depiction in Azur Lane as well, as "special touching" her normal skin just has her talk about cheering up the commander. For her other skin however, it is subverted instead as she actually acknowledges something is up there.
    • On the other hand, there are the likes of Matsuri, Marine, and Coco who are often wild and highly sexual.
    • One of the biggest taboos in the idol industry is that the female idols are forbidden from having any interaction with men. Hololive is no exception, sort of — while most of the girls doing a collab with male streamers, even those from their male counterpart division holostars, would be met with vocal backlash from extremely devoted fans, there are plenty of aversions:
      • Sora, surprisingly, has done collaborations with men, despite being a traditional idol herself. The lack of scandal is also surprising.
      • Suisei is friends with a few, and so she will often do collaborations with male Vtubers outside of hololive and will invite them for her Music Space radio show.
      • Aki has a few shows with Ashino, a male vtuber who plays an acoustic guitar. That and her hidden perverted tendencies.
      • Fubuki is another hololive member to ignore one of the strictest traditional idol rules by collaborating with male streamers on many occasions.
      • Averted hard for Matsuri. Not only is her usual behavior wild and highly sexual, Matsuri is one of the few who has no reservations about doing collabs with male streamers. In addition, one of her Fall Guys streams has her recalling that hololive staff was almost perpetually angry with her in the early days of the 1st generation, when Matsuri was the only one who acted loud and raunchy. It wasn't until 2nd generation came along that hololive staff decided to lighten up on her, as the new wave of talent brought in equally loud people such as Shion.
      • Choco. On top of being overtly sexual with women, she not only does collabs with men, but openly flirts with, teases, and supports male vtubers.
      • Subaru, who invited Nijisanji's Maimoto Keisuke to collab with her just a week after her debut. The two of them and Shigure Ui have had many collabs together since.
      • Zig-zagged with in the case of Rushia's collaborations with Inuyama Tamaki of NoriPro, which often involve Ship Tease, usually in the form of Rushia being a Yandere for Tamaki. The most likely reason this "pairing" doesn't recieve as much backlash is because while the character of Tamaki is a (crossdressing) male, his voice actor is a female.
      • Towa is a notable case where this was played straight. She had to take a short hiatus to recover from backlash ensuing from an unidentified male voice in the background of one of her streams. For a few months afterwards, only a handful of hololivers interacted with her on stream with Towa being known more for collabing with outside VTubers Sio Kusunoki and Uruha Ichinose instead. Her subscriber count has been noticeably at or near the bottom of the main branch since. For Christmas Eve 2020 however, Towa was able to use voice chat with her fans in Apex Legends without visible backlash. She has also participated in multiple online Apex Legends tournaments, like the Crazy Racoon Cup, where she interacts with male vtubers onstream without issue.
      • When Aloe accidentally doxxed herself, her pre-hololive tweets (some of them being sexual jokes) and videos were discovered. Antis used this to justify harassing her and her family, as she was exhibiting "un-idol-like behavior". Antis also went after a male associate of Aloe's who was believed to be her boyfriend (she later denied this, but said that they were distancing to avoid him suffering any further harassment). This eventually took its toll as Aloe chose to graduate just as her suspension period expired.
      • The Indonesian and English branches, which market to audiences that are less invested in this trope, face very little backlash as a result:
      • Risu and Iofi regularly interact with holostars, especially Aruran, Oga, and Roberu, and Ollie is good friends with Astel. Outside of hololive, Risu has also done a couple collabs) with both Zen Gunawan, a male vtuber from a local Indonesian agency Mahapanca and Jaret Fajrianto, and independent male vtuber/comic artist.
      • Calliope constantly mentions her collaborative efforts with doujin track mixer K's/kokorobeats as well as appeared on an all male hosted podcast Trash Taste (where she also mentioned that she would very much like to collaborate with Cr1TiKaL if he were up for it). In March 2021, she also collaborated with Rikka from holostars to sing his original song "Spiral Tones". Not only does this mark the first ENxStars collaboration but also the first Original song to feature both a hololive and holostars member note
      • Kiara routinely mentions her "papa" (character designer) Huke, who sometimes pops into her chat (it helps that he was already well-known for Black★Rock Shooter).

Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.

There seems to be a work page for Holo Myth's TTRPG. Should we make a trivia section for the work and transfer the associated trivia entries there?

Done, please add new Trivia/YMMV into the HololiveEnglishMythbreakers namespace from now on.

There is an existing Mythbreakers entry in hololive.YMMV atm but I think we should leave it there as that entry is ultimately about Kiara, the hololive character, not the characters from Mythbreakers.

should we just not mention any real life identities under Reclusive Artist? someone nuked two of the three entries relatively recently and it made me think about how talking about these girls' real identities is bad form on Reddit (and i would imagine Japanese fans by extension), so i'm thinking maybe we should honor that too.

We should probably respect the Vtuber's right to privacy and not dox the vtubers unless they give their consent for said information to be freely given out.

I agree. Plus, they are only speculations at best (no matter how convincing they might seem), and are NOT confirmed officially by the hololive member / hololive themselves, so you can't really say they are "Trivia".

sorry in advance for necroing this, but would blatantly deliberate aversions of Reclusive Artist on behalf of the voices behind the avatars themselves be allowed on here?

YouTube apparently pegged someone else's channel as Matsurinote  and, as one might imagine, the comments on that video are a 50/50 split between wholehearted support and the "tHiS iS dOxXiNg" crowd utterly confused over seeing a real Japanese person with pretty much all of Matsuri's mannerisms. she doesn't even try to hide it anymore.

that's not getting into basically all of hololive EN and Coco, who don't give a rat's ass due to Values Dissonance and still follow and/or talk about their own personas on Twitter.

obviously they don't mention this on the streams themselves, because trying to promote yourself under a company account is probably a bad career move, but some of these women just really don't care about the past persona drama.

Since the Disowned Adaptation entry has a translation from OtakMori Translations being the disowned one (with a warning from T-chan against said translator's translations), does that mean no translation clips should come from said channel?

While it is true that OyakMori Translations is unreliable for serious matters such as controversies, I don't think we should remove all OyakMori Translations clips from TV Tropes just because of that. For more light-hearted topics such as jokes, I think it's okay to link their translation if there are no alternatives available (it's not like everything they say is wrong). But yeah, if you do not know Japanese well, I would advise against citing them as the source for topics that people might take seriously.
