"First of all, the first Rayman game is in Rayman (1995): the year should be added in the namespace only if there are two identical work sharing the same exact name. In the case of "first installment of franchise", it's simply added a I or 1"

Is that an actual rule? First I've heard of it.

How to Create a Work's Page says to add the year to the title in case of Recycled Title. The first Rayman videogame isn't a case, since no other following game was renamed simply "Rayman". How to Make a Custom Title mentions that custome titles can be used to hide that "1" or "I" to distinguish the urls of work page from the franchise page.

In the case of "first installment of franchise", it's simply added a I or 1:
This isn't a rule, just one way we can disambiguate between franchise/original pages. The page for the original game is fine.
The url is actually just VideoGame/Rayman2, but then the subtitle is added through a custom wikiword.
That's a violation. Did you want help in moving the page?
However... all the three actual characters subpages of the links I put above are redirect to Rayman, the main index for the characters sheets of the entire franchise.
Ewww, sounds like someone noticed that the pages weren't in the correct titles and just went with the fast fix. Either the character pages or the work pages should move.
What I plan is: move everything related to the first game in Rayman 1 (there's no need for the year in the namespace since there's no other work called simply Rayman), move everything from the second and third game to Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc respectively, then keep VideoGame/Rayman2 and VideoGame/Rayman3 as redirects. Also, Characters/RaymanM will be a redirect to Rayman Party Games instead.
Two thumbs up from me!

I agree. Move Rayman (1995) to Rayman, add the subtitle to Rayman 2, and make the characters pages have the same title as the games pages.

^^ Thanks a lot! I don't need help for moving the pages, but I definitely will for checking all the wicks once the moving's done.

On the first Rayman: even if it's not a strict rule, the use of "1" for disambiguation is really universal here. I only see the year added in the namespace for cases of exact Recycled Title. I think making an exception for Rayman would be kinda confusing.

Do I need a mod's approval for these things, or can I proceed right away?

We have more formal rule proposals on how to create disambiguation on a sandbox that I wrote (with feedback). While a I/1 disambiguation is most common for this specific case, it is not universal. Since both year and 1 are being used, it's a tossup and whoever is willing to do the work gets to make the decision (that'd be you, which is why I'm not objecting to your choice, just the declaration that it is a rule de jure). You've got agreement from two tropers right now, give it a bit more time and you'll have a solid basis for wiki consensus.

Honestly, I kinda prefer using the year. Using "1" and then just hiding it with a custom title has always felt kinda tacky to me.

That's just my opinion, though. I won't give you any trouble if you do move it.

I agree with using "1".

You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the mid

The sequel used 2, so we should probably use (and hide) 1.

Agreed with the "1" move and the moves in general.

^ Probably too many inbounds is my guess. For high inbound pages, it's preferred you redirect those pages to their actual destination to preserve the inbounds.

EDIT - Yup, it's the inbounds.
