Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ask the Tropers is for:
- • General questions about the wiki, how it works, and how to do things.
- • Reports of problems with wiki articles, or requests for help with wiki articles.

Just repeating a sentence from earlier then dumping links.
openshort links?
is there any way to abbreviate a link to something in the main namespace, for such purposes as sharing a link to a trope somewhere the full URL would either not work or not be convenient? Links can get kind of long and some instances (You Tube, for example) don't have any way to hide the URL in a hyperlink, so cutting out the"pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/" somehow would be handy.
openHelp before escalating into an edit war
The user Kof4495 has been modifying the Transformers: BotBots page from edits that have been added, stripping data that is true into nitpicky stuff (Like, Slobber Rock acts like a puppy, and might be called a puppy, but he doesn't even look like one, which is something I added, but they keep changing it to them being an actual puppy), gender issues (turning a character with no mentioned gender from "they" to "its"), and flat-out removing stuff and simplfying it down to really needed measures (Ollie Bite isa baseball cap, why just turn it to "hat" and why remove a character that is on the list as being what they are entirely?).
This same user has caused issues on non-TV Tropes websites for this same exact franchise, and I really want to edit the page back, but I don't want to be caught in an edit war.
Edited by ZootyCutie94openTroper with indentation problems
monkey60t has issues with indentation, even after I sent a notifier.
Here's their latest violation:

They also failed to create folders correctly on Super Mario RWBY (I fixed this already)
open Old series Live Action TV
I'm looking for this tv series it's about a teen who has the ability to shapshift his arm into anyweapon and his best friend is a martial artist and a girl it has aliens and other species in one scene his friend is teaching the alien martial arts to keep warm
openRequest to break up the "What an Idiot: Live-Action TV" page
I believe that the page is too long and makes trying to add an edit incredibly slow and difficult.
openWriting a New Page Literature
There's this fanfic on fimfiction that I read called "Shattering a Heart of Darkness" and I would like to create a page on this site about it but I don't know how.
Edited by nombretomadoopenEdit war over an unapproved complete monster entry Literature
The troper Uzi has added multiple complete monster entries without visiting the thread first. As demonstrated by the unapproved addition of a CM entry for the already downvoted Sophia lamb. In one of these cases The lost world they even Edit Warred and readded it after removal. This work was also on the never again list as well.
openStarting a page for Isekai Izakaya Nobu, Ascendence of a Bookworm, and Ryou's Work is Never Done Anime
Hi. I'm a long-time editor (with many a pitfalls in my career) but I've never started a new page before. These three works are my current jam (in fact found them via references here) but there are no pages to them. Like absolutely no mention. I was wondering if there's a reason or if it's simply that no one has gotten to it.
If it's the latter, I'd like to start these pages if I'm allowed. It seemed odd to me because there seem to be a decent fandom for these series, they already have multiple adaptations (Light Novel, Manga and a concluded Anime), and even wiki pages (although those are kinda crappy). It's because of these that makes me wonder if there's a reason no one has started these. Thank you.
openWMG Misuse?
Who is the Fiege and who is the Perlmutter in the situation is unclear, but something will be thrown down for it.
- Alternatively, the games will be so bad in terms of sales that the series will be put on hiatus if not outright cancelled. Thus, the games will forever be known as franchise killers.
- Very unlikely. Pokemon is too profitible to be canned after one potential flop. (I.e there is also the manga, toys, tcg, and the anime). After all franchises like Sonic have had many more flops and that still keeps going. At most Sword and Shield have the potential to be unamously considered the lowest point of the main series. Which given Game Freaks sudden lower prioriy on Pokemon for new I Ps could probably slow the frequency of games down a bit.
I believe it's WMG to guess about the reception of the game as opposed to the actually plot and contents of the game. Right?
Sword and Shield is currently attracting a lot of complaining.
openNinjago Western Animation
Since we know Ninjago is also known for incredible music, should it deserve its own Awesome Music page? I think I've landed into goldmines of 'em, because here are: Jay Vincent's YouTube channel, Michael Kramer's YouTube channel and The Fold's YouTube channel. The problem is I'm not sure what songs I should add (well, not totally unsure), because they're so awesome.
What do you think? Before I could do what I proposed above, I wanted to ask the tropers first. Sorry for not asking in the first place earlier for other stuff.
openWhat was Mary Sueperpower?
Asking because the title and its TLP draft is redirected to Glamour.
resolved Toy2711
I think they're either confused how the site works or a troll. They've been putting RWBY: Heroes United everywhere and have a bad case of Serial Tweaking. I don't know whether to ask if they need help, or ask exactly what they're trying to do. They add stuff only to delete it a few minutes later, or vice versa. They also created Trope Entry Template for some reason?
I'm just baffled and at a loss what to do (if anything).
Edit: Looking at the Trope Entry Template Page, presumably they are the author of the fic since the name is the same. If that is the case I think they tried to put their own fic on the RWBY Fanfic Recs page (though they removed it).
Edited by EmeraldSkyopenAm I a troper with an agenda?
Recently, I have deleted a number of examples from Fair for Its Day page for being based on an incorrect perception of ancient history — seriously, how the hell is Bible contemporaneous to Hammurabi Code? — or just not realated to the trope. Another troper accused me of acting with an agenda for that very reason. Since apparantly it's a bad thing, I wish to find out what my agenda exactly is and what should I avoid not to let said agenda show. And I'm being serious here. If I'm doing something wrong, I wish to know what exactly is it that I'm doing wrong.
openjppiper Western Animation
jppiper added a non-capitalized, non-punctuated, speculative example to Steven Universe: The Movie, and then spent multiple more edits trying to Wiki Word Time Skip. After the example was rightfully removed, they posted on the discussion page, still with the problems of their example, this time with an added self-censoring of the swear "fucking".
Page history and Troper history.
