The fade is a 2018 horror ya book by new author Demitria Lunetta

The tagline: "We don't want to disappear. We want to be found."

Something terrible happened in her basement. Haley can feel it.

Four girls went missing several years ago, and the police never solved the case. But Haley know the missing girls were murdered. How else can she explain the hostile presence in her house?

The ghostly girls need something from her. And unless Haley can figure out what they want...she might be next.

So whose the villain and what has he done?

Jim Pratt is the seemingly kind boyfriend of Haley's sister Shannon. In reality though Pratt himself is the killer. Having a lifelong lust for his sister kaitlyn. After he tried to force himself on her, she rejcted him. For that he had her tied down, beaten and then stabbed to death with a screwdriver. He then bgan to stalk and murder her friends who looked like her. Brutally murdering 4 girls(Emily, Gigi, Brandy and Kaitlyn) in total when they wouldnt live up to his standards including the police chiefs daughter (He says that one was the most difficult and that it took a large amount of effort on his part). He then placed there bodies behind the panel installings in the baesment and took a souvienar from each of them (Its implied by Kaitlyn that his victims were alive when he did that). Emily’s ring. Kaitlyn’s necklace. Gigi’s clutch. Brandy’s ribbon.

Anyway gaining a creepy obsession with shannon after he sees her five years after his spree, outside the old pratt house. He inducts himself into her life as a seemingly sweet and kindly boyfriend since she looks just like his sister. The ghosts of the four girls he murdered haunt the halls of his house and discover justice on him in order to pass on. There slolwy fading away, the longer this takes but cant directly manipulate the outside world. They know he plans on killing shannon as well eventually so warn her sister haley who has the ability to see spirits and attempt to get her to solve there case. They could only send out visions of stuff at random as a way to try and get her to solve it before thinsg are too late.

Anyway Haley investigates with her boyfriend Coop....Only to get murdered at the books half way point when somone pushes her down the stairs of her basement that she was going to. . Now a ghost, its revaled she has far more able to influence people through possession and discovers that Jim is the killer. She teleports and along with coop (who can also see spirits and was emily's brother) go to the basemnent to get the remains. There Pratt attacks Coop before haley's father comes onto the scence. Jim then bruatlly attcks him , leaving him uncious and planning to kill him to cover this up. Anyway injured now from the fight, Shannon comes home and tries to save her father but Pratt stops her and intneds to let him die. After she confronts him about the bodies that they dug up, he claims that iot was there fault and tries to blame for what happened when he killed them for not lving up to what he wanted and is a creep.

To save her sister since she knows he plans to kill her, she posees shannon and

well this:

“You are disgusting,” I blurt out, which probably isn’t the smartest move, but I can’t help it. I try to back away, but he grabs my—Shannon’s —hair and pulls my face close to his own.

“Did you kill Haley?” I ask in Shannon’s voice.

He looks genuinely confused. “No, why would I?”

“You’re a murderer.”

“I loved Kaitlyn. I loved the rest too. Shannon,I love you so much it hurts.”

“You only kill the ones you love?” I ask. “You are a total freak.”

He slaps me, hard. My vision goes fuzzy for a moment. “Why did you make me do that, Kaitlyn?”

I try to keep him talking. “You kept souvenirs,” I say. “Emily’s ring. Kaitlyn’s necklace. Gigi’s clutch. Brandy’s ribbon.”

His face goes pale. “How do you know that?”

H* e’s loosened his grip, so I pull back my arm and punch him in the face. I’ve never been in a fight, never hit anyone, but Shannon is strong, and I manage to put a lot of force behind my blow. Pain explodes in my hand. But I’ve caught Jim by surprise, and he’s forced back. He trips over Coop’s body and goes down hard, a look of confusion on his face.

“You and I were meant to be together,” he tells me.

I turn to run, but he lunges and grabs my legs, sending me crashing to'the floor. He has me on my back and is sitting on my chest within seconds. He’s so strong, so heavy. I saw him do this with Kaitlyn. I saw what struggling got her. I go limp.

“Maybe we can still be together,” I gasp out, trying to keep the disgust from my voice.

He tilts his head. “Do you really mean that?”

“Haley.” Coop’s voice sounds like it’s right next to my ear.

Suddenly,there’s something in my hand. It’s sharp, and I can feel it slicing into my finger.

“Yes. I was just surprised. I…love you.” I choke out the words. He eases up for a moment, just a moment, and it’s all I need. I don’t think, I just'act.

I ram the box cutter into his neck. He looks shocked as his hands go to the blade, pulling it from his wound. Blood spurts everywhere, raining'down on my—Shannon’s—face.

His fingers move to my neck and he squeezes. I can’t breathe. I punch at him and can feel his grip weaken. With every heartbeat, he’s losing more and more blood. His life pulses from his body. He topples forward, all his weight on me. I roll him off, exhausted. I shake out of Shannon’s body and she scrambles from his side.

Anyway with Pratt's death. The spirts of the grils he killed gather around his newly created one. They know he was a bullshitter and a monster who wont admitt that hes at fault with anything and drag him into a portal to hell for eternal dammnation. They then cross over into the afterlife, with justice served.

Freudian Excuse ?

Nope just an incestous creeper.

Other mitigating factors /

hell no all this is just pure obessesion on his part for sister as well as his victims. He kills without remorse and even keeps souvinarss of his victims for fun. He then tries to spin it that his victims are at fault and even his victims know that for all of those claims, he is just evil.

And no he doesnt love shannon or anyone. Hes simply in love with the idea, not the the person and plans to kil her afterwards

Heinous atndard ?

Five victims (Coop dies from his wounds btw). Attempted Rape. Torture, walling them alive.

Then two more attempted. Yeah thats more then enough.

Now its eventually revealed that Coop was the one who killed haley as in order for his sister to pass on, he needed a more direct way for the spirits to interact and killed her so shed become a go between.

That said its just one murder and Pratt has far more with lots more nastiness added on.

Update on Smite:

Alright, so I just read some of the lores with two heinous gods who I plan to bring to this thread but one of them I stripped because of there's this redeeming quality surrounding him: Ao Kuang and Bakasura.

• Alright, Ao Kuang? He's the guy who demanded his people to have children sacrificed so that he could feast on them and if they don't comply, he will sent some tidal waves towards his own people. He definitely carves his own unique niche with his children sacrifice but there's this one mitigating factor that led me to give him a strip: When his son, Ao Bing, was defeated by Ne Zha, Ao Kuang demanded Ne Zha's father to make reparations for the offense committed by his son, or he would send floods and storms to ravage the land. So yeah, I think he cares too much for his son unless if I didn't read the lore correctly and this led me to strip him for potential CM candidate despite being well...A bastard with a unique niche of his own.
• Now then, with Ao Kuang sorted out, let's talk about Bakasura. He's a horrendous demon with bottomless appetite of human flesh and committing countless atrocities. One notable instance is that he terrorizes several villagers of Ekachakra so that he could gain more sacrifice and food for himself. Now, Bakasura? Has a sizable bodycount as there are some bones and blood discretion shot on his own lore video. Now, the issue is that the cannibals are pretty much not rare but not common either: We have the aforementioned Ao Kuang, Fenrir and Camazotz. However, compared to Fenrir and Camazotz? Bakasura has a sizable bodycount (Camazotz doesn't have one) and onscreen vileness compared to the latter two (Although Fenrir did swallow an armor and a sword and spit it out in his winning animation) and then there's Bakasura's stunt on eating his minions to gain more power that gives him a huge bodycount and you could argue that Bakasura has lesser resource than Ao Kuang and the story of him being self-contained and doesn't connect to Ao Kuang and other god's lore after all like Da Ji.

With that said, shall I give Bakasura a shot just to make sure? Ao Kuang is a no even if I want him to qualify. But Bakasura is a different story.

Later taking advantage of a superntual summit, she plans to use it to sow tensions and restart an ancient war between vampires and shapehsifters regardless of the death this would cause. Eventually desperate, Celina allies with the corrupt Mayor Seth Tate and helps distribute the drug "V" to vampires all across Chicago starting murder sprees while getting the attention shes always desired as its distributor. Even Celinas last moments have her temporarily kill Merit's lover Ethan as a way to spite her, cementing herself as Merit's

• Dark Debt: Julian Burrows is a vile vampire hired by the circle to take the guise of Ethan's sire Belthasor to torment him. Julian is a monstrous rapist who hunts and rapes woman for the fun of it even shocking other members of the circle. After being empowered by the below mentioned Sorcha Reid with the ability to violate the minds of his victims, Julian begins a rampage over Chicago, forcing his victims to feel as if they were being sexually assaulted. After being found it, Julian reveals he intends to rape Merit out of lust being nothing more a salve to his lustful whims.

• Iron Man: The Gauntlet by Eoin Colfer: The Mandarin is an infamous terrorist who gained ten powerful rings by kidnapping and later killing one of Tony's friends after he forced her to make them. Mandarin in the present intends to make a grand show by launching an attack an at environmental conference, killing the ministers there and taking over the positions to sell the environment off to the highest bidders despite the collateral damage taking potentially thousands of lives. Planning to frame Tony Stark as the perpetrator, he has him run his gauntlet where his prisoners duel him before being killed and decapitated in order to keep the fear in his men. The Mandarin despises failure and will have his men subjected to the powers of his ten rings should that occur. In his final battle, the Mandarin uses the teenage girl Sasorie as a hostage in order to force Tony to fight him head on while never planning to let her go no matter who wins there fight.

@Draxterrus Will probably do Hades soon and maybe Loki. But there's some lingering issues for them. We'll see what happened in later future.

As with Bakasura, I have read your overview about him, I say go for it.

@Draxterrus Loki...I guess it had to do with the moment where he stopped Skadi on rampaging in Asgard and there are other Omnicidal Maniacs to pay attention with. (Hades, Apophis and Ra comes to mind although Ra stopped become one when he asks Hathor to stop killing all of the humans) But I could argue that he started the Ragnarok for fun like mir said and the moment with Skadi came before well...Loki's descent into villainy.

Hades, I think because of this part of his lore: "Hades was known to be a stern and fair ruler since his domain is a necessary one. He hates those who cheat death and steal from him." Unless if his standards are bullshit like Anjuro.That and he's just there because he's a sadist I guess I can give him a shot.

Right...I'll do Bakasura's EP at a later time.

Brixton doesn't seem "pissed" when Eteon kill him - he seems disappointed by their betrayal but comes to terms with it. Like, Shaw decides to spare Brixton and Eteon decides to "decomission" him. That has to sting. So in context, his loss of loyalty doesn't necessarily invalidate his beliefs.

You know, sleeping on it count me as an official no.

I imagine Brixton will get cut regardless when more see the film, which I honestly recommend, and not just for the discussion. Maybe when it's on home release?
