Subpages cleanup: Complete Monster

Go To

During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.

Specific issues include:

  • Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
  • A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
  • Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
  • Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
  • Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.

It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:

     Previous Post
Complete Monster Cleanup Thread

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.

IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.

When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "[tup] to everyone I missed").

No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.

We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.

What is the Work

Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?

This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.

Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.

Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?

Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard

Final Verdict?

Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Lemme shut that down right now: Astrid is in no way, shape or form, even at her worst, in the same universe as the CM trope.

MB, that's another story.

Possibly would be interesting if she ended up getting E Pd as a Magnificent Bastard. (Talking about Astrid btw). And can't wait to see if Jackie can EP the Big Bad

Also, an update regarding Kekkaishi heinous standard. Important for future monsters to come:

There's a psycho bitch who guarded the prison in Guillotine Island named Saigo Enjouji and then there's another guard of the prison, Yashiro. Both of them I guess... don't reach the heinous mark of the series. Saigo... Is an interesting person, as despite putting a friendly facade as a receptionist of Guillotine Island, when she's on the Island Manhunt mode, she become much crazier and tries at her best to decapitate the head of some prisoner and anyone who defies her will be beheaded for sure (But luckily, it was just a threat) and she has an obsession to kill any women who are younger than her to slake her inferiority complex and it's implied she had done it in the past. Fortunately, it was offscreen and Saigo's murder isn't as brutal as say, Kagurou or Mudou and when the prisoners are get in her way, iirc she was just knock them out and doesn't go into excessively brutal murder so yeah...

Also, for Yashiro, well, she attempts to brainwash the hero, Tokine and threatens Tokine that everyone in the prison would be killed if she didn't surrender. However, Yashiro ultimately isn't heinous enough and it was revealed that she was brainwashed behind the scenes by a sinister figure so yeah...

[tup] Abaddon.

Thanks for answering my question on the MB thread by the way, Lighty. We have a lot of overlap in our tastes, so I'm sure I'll like Darksiders when I finally get around to those.

Also, [tup] Agnes.

And a [tup] for Artus.

Now then, here's my EP for Clean Room.

Who Is she?

Introduced in Issue #13, Derica Mueller (which means "Beloved Leader"), aka the Exalted One, is the baby child of Astrid Mueller’s brother Robert, who accidentally partook in a ceremony of demonic rebirth. While a demon, she manages to be worse than any other demon in the story, acting as the Big Bad and the one the demons follow.

What has she done?

A demonic goddess of the void, Derica forces people to have visions of either her demons, or their deceased love ones/family, bragging about how many people she’s sent to insane asylums and mental wards, and how many soldiers she’s infected.

Her introduction has her mind controlling a security guard to blow his own brains out in front of Chloe and Astrid. Despite being told by Chloe that the gun doesn’t have any bullets, Derica uses her powers to still make the guy commit suicide, mocking Chloe about her dead husband and child once that’s done, even revealing to her that she was the one who had sent her visions of her late husband as a zombie. She then tells Chloe and Astrid about her plan to make a bridge out of humans (complete with a graphic picture of what it would look like; it’s not pretty to say the least). When asked by Chloe why she’s doing this, Derica responds with “Because the cow goes ‘moo,’” before sending the guard’s reanimated corpse to attack Chloe. This causes Astrid to order her men to take Derica in as a demonic prisoner.

Astrid later visits Derica in her crib prison, where Derica tells her about her master plan that’s currently in motion: to kill every human being on earth. How will she accomplish this? Well, her demons will cut the power for earth, with no internet, television, wi-fi, or radio, only to bring everything back, but keep it at one channel. While just an odd prank, that’s only phase 1. Phase 2 will then involve a plague of school bus crashes around the world, hoping to crash hundreds of them. Then, she plans to have planes crash-land on multiple cities, from Minsk to Motown. Finally, she will mind control the president to pull out a gun and shoot his wife on national television. The trick to all of this is that Derica and her demons will try to make it look like the humans did it. So in a nutshell, Derica plans to kill off humanity via trolling. Once her conversation with Astrid is finished, Derica has her demons hidden amongst Astrid’s staff reveal themselves and slaughter everyone. Meanwhile, a city is having issues with their electronics going down, with some becoming paranoid and killing each other, with one demon disguised as a little boy framing people for being demons.

Later on, one of Derica’s followers, Marcus Tyrell Webber, comes in to kill the guards, burn the building, and rescue her. Getting into his arms, Derica can’t wait to kill Astrid. When a guard stands in their way in front of the Clean Room doors, Derica has Marcus kill him, and once that’s done, Derica tells Astrid through the sealed door that she “will kill every person you ever knew…” and “will make blankets of their living skin.” However, she’s interrupted by Capone, Astrid's sidekick, who tries to stop her, but the fight ends with Capone barely alive and Marcus dead; not that Derica cares about him, congratulating Capone for kill him as she hurdles herself over the door. Unfortunately for Derica, Astrid had intentionally let her in, ordering Captain Hagan to fire a weapon at the secret demon Invisible City, which was a source of her power. With a distracted Derica, Astrid and friends exoduct (aka transporting someone via Christianity) her to another dimension.

Yeah, the climax was very rushed.

Redeeming Qualities?

None. While she’s a demon, it’s stated in the series that demons found on earth are banished by other demons for being too evil, implying that there are demons who have standards.

Heinousness?

She has all the resources of a demon, and makes good use of them to become a hateful individual. Artus still counts due to just being a simple human.

Conclusion

I think she’s a definite keep. Expect another possible candidate from the comic by Lighty.

Plans to kill humanity via trolling? I know this isn't South Park, but I remember one of the reasons that guy was voted down was because using trolling like that isn't serious enough. I'll give a yes, but I assume it's played differently here?

Also, purely out of curiosity, what happened to Philip anyway?

[up] I say trolling, but she's essentially tricking humanity into thinking that everyone's acting crazy and will create mass chaos as a response to all the crazy shit happening.

[up][up][up] How is she tricking into thinking humanity is acting crazy? Part of the reason Bedrager was voted down was that the idea of startibg a world war by silly internet comments is inherently ridiculous. The other part being him not really standing out due to the jacked up heinius standard.

Btw slight tweaking to Junoir to add her name

  • Original: Junior, daughter of the first Ragdoll, is a crime boss so depraved and ruthless even Intergang gives her a wide berth. Famed for her cruelty and monstrousness, Junior routinely offers her victim a choice of dying horribly or letting Junior kill their families. When most choose the second choice, Junior records it, along with the victim's horrible death, and sends it to the families. Having obtained a card that is literally a pass out of hell, Junior kills and tortures countless people, raping men and women alike. When the card is stolen, Junior attempts to have her sins absolved by a priest, only to painfully kill the man when he refuses. Junior captures Bane of the Secret Six, who has the card, and tortures him with scissors and bricks to gain the location of the others. At the end, Junior loses control and attempts to slaughter every villain present when they see her mutilated true appearance, even her own brother Peter/Ragdoll II. Despite her backstory of her father having molested her, Junior is afforded no sympathy, knowing what a depraved monster she truly is and committing countless evil deeds because she loves it and feels she can get away with anything due to the card in her possession.

  • Junior, real name Alex Merkel, daughter of the first Ragdoll, is a crime boss so depraved and ruthless even Intergang gives her a wide berth.
