During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

So I found this on Alienators: Evolution Continues.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Scopes is constantly going on about how the Genus are a perfectly harmonious super organism, and at one point makes a beeline for Ira's parents while yelling, "You have wiped out my family, now I shall wipe out yours!" after a batch of fellow Genus are taken out in "Ira Knows Best." Considering Scopes is kind of the Hive Queen, this is also a potentially literal case of A Father to His Men.
This character is a CM so is there something else to this?

What's the work?
Connected is a Hong Kong remake of my recently covered Cellular. This time around single father Bob receives a call from the captive widowed mother and engineer Grace Wong, being held by corrupt Interpol agents for her teenage brother Roy videotaping them murdering drug dealers to claim their product. This time the role of lead kidnapped is upgraded to Big Bad while The Mole is his Dragon.
Who is Fok Tak-nang? What has he done?
Assaulting and capturing Grace, Inspector Fok and his men raid her house for the tape, Fok personally stabbing her frightened housekeeper. Soon Grace is locked up in a room with a smashed phone she reconnects to get our unlikely hero on the line. Trying to force Grace to call Roy for the tape, Fok beats and murders Roy's young friend before threatening to go after her six-year-old daughter Tinker.
Bob races off to save Tinker, though, as in the original ,the villains are faster and scoop her up to use her to coerce Grace further. Nearly ready to murder the mother and daughter, Fok only relents when a call from his underling informs him Roy is being kept at a hospital and departs to hunt him down. Forcing Roy to show them the location of his lost backpack housing the footage, Bob stays hidden in swift pursuit, snagging the bag and running with it to distract Fok and his men from killing Roy.
The video expanding on the bodycount from the original, Fok gunned down five restrained criminals and when Grace pleads for the safety of her family, Fok denies her saying he'll kill her daughter and brother for her to live on and shoots Roy in the leg before Bob can call to cut a deal. "Releasing" the family at the airport to his crooked cops—having an innocent officer beaten to death in the process—Fok's police connection helps him delete the video and Fok sates his bloodlust by beating Bob. When heroic cop Fai catches on to him and kills his underlings, Fok's left chasing for Bob again and tries to savagely beat him to death, flying into a rage when Bob reveals he's already uploaded the video online. He tries to throw Bob off a ledge but Bob catches a rope along the way down, which catches Fok's leg and sends him to his own demise.
Mitigating factors?
Absolutely no redeeming qualities, he's got the same stoic front as Ethan but coupled with an outright sadistic not just bloodthirsty streak underneath, smiling merrily as he threatens and tortures.
Heinousness?
Ethan but more kills, younger victims and worse torture... plus upgrade to Big Bad!
Verdict?
Keeps.
