Trope's been around since 2009 and currently has only 16 wicks. There was a previous TRS thread
last year that pointed out the exact same issue and it resolved with almost no discussion, with the outcome being "crosswick it." Nothing has really changed since.
I don't think crosswicking is enough (no new wicks have been added since crosswicking) and to be honest, I don't think "artsy" is a valid subtrope since it is fairly subjective. Even if we went with the more objective definition of "artsy" as "stylized", I'm not sure why we'd have a carve out for stylized depictions of the moon when there's no consistency to trope in the ways in which the moon is stylized (unlike the Stock depiction tropes of food and animals) and there is by definition no meaning to the stylization. Looking at the wick check, there isn't an example that wouldn't also fit under Weird Moon. The same can also be said for the few on page examples that haven't been crosswicked.
It feels like we're troping "artists/creators depict the moon in their style" which doesn't seem like a trope to me or it's so omnipresent as to be meaningless.
Recommendations: Cut the trope entirely for being Not Tropeworthy or merge into Weird Moon. fwiw, I have no preference regarding either option.
