The Trailing punctuation in trope custom titles thread, as well as many, many discussions over the past ten and a half years, have made it obvious that we need a centralized discussion thread for page titles. I intend for this thread to be a place to both discuss titles and request they be changed.
(If you're looking to capitalize an existing wikiword, there's a different thread for that.)
Yeah. Missed that one when I was going through the list of decade pages.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Should the custom title for Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, and Nixon include an Oxford comma, to match what the line's parodying? It currently doesn't.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.I think that's fine.
Are Main.Standard Fifties Father and Main.Seemingly Wholesome Fifties Girl candidates for moving to match the custom titles ("'50s") as well?
Pantheon Wick CleaningI'd assume so.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.~Potential 1900 the custom title tool should not be used to rename pages. See How to Move a Page for how to move a page to the disambiguated title.
~Matt 2000 the custom title tool isn't for renaming pages. Looks like you are creating a new work page. Please follow the instructions on How to Create a Work Page.
~StephenEpsilons please do not use Custom Wiki Word to rename pages. If you want to move Metal Slug Code J to Metal Slug Awakening (as long as it's an official rename), then move the contents to the new page.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportWhy is Fight Scene Failure spelled as "Fight-Scene"?
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupDoesn't really seem necessary; it's not like anyone would interpret this as (fight) (scene failure).
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Agree
I vote for the hyphen to be removed
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectback lol
Remove the unnecessary hyphen because "fight scene" is rarely hyphenated even when used as a noun phrase.
Kirby is awesome.It's been removed.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.~Dracoblade, the custom title tool isn't for renaming pages. "WITCH Animated S 2 E 3" can't be changed to "C is for Changes".

The request to rename "MakingTheBand2S2E1" to "Making the Band 2: Season 2 Episode 1" has been declined.
If we really need to expand "S2E1" to "Season 2 Episode 1", that would need a page move or a new page created. It's not in scope for a title change.
Series.Lucy Desi Comedy Hour has a custom title that adds a "The".
In this case, that whole show should be moved via page history thread to include "the"
Because "The" is part of the official title
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation project~Jabuzzard Both of these have been declined:
- "TheRealHousewivesOfBeverlyHillsFriends" to "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: Friends of the Housewives"
- "TheRealHousewivesOfBeverlyHills7To13" to "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: Season 7-13 Additions"
Custom titles are intended to fix formatting and punctuation, not to rename pages. If you need to rename the page, that goes via the page move process if there's an edit history worth keeping.
Your request to set a custom title of "Octavius King" for "Octav1usKitten" has been declined.
Custom wiki words are only intended to fix punctuation and styling issues, not completely change page names.
If web series Octav1us Kitten is now Octavius King due to the creator changing their name, that's something for the Creator name/identity changes thread, and possibly also the Page Move thread, which does handle full renames.
The following requests have been declined - if you want to add the 2024 to the page name, that needs a move request, not just a custom title. Custom titles are to amend punctuation and styling, not to actually change the name.
- EchoEpisode1Chafa to Echo (2024) Episode 1 "Chafa"
- EchoEpisode4Taloa to Echo (2024) Episode 4 "Taloa"
- EchoEpisode5Maya to Echo (2024) Episode 5 "Maya"

The custom title for Warcraft 2016 is glitched and not carrying over to wicks.
It is for me:
back lolOh, it's that bug again...
Film/WarCraft2016 will get you Warcraft (2016).
Film/Warcraft2016 will get you Warcraft 2016.
There's a list of affected pages on Tabs' Tropers Page. I'll add this one.

Ahhh. I see what the problem is: there's a longtime ambiguity over whether to capitalize the 'c' in Warcraft and StarCraft: it's usually left uncapitalized in the former but capitalized in the latter. It seems the custom title is tied to a capitalized version, i.e. WarCraft.
Edited by StarSword on Jan 15th 2024 at 12:58:26 PM
Yep. This usually happens when a page is cut and recreated with different capitalisation - so the old WarCraft film page is now Warcraft - but the custom title logic doesn't change with the page.
