Stock Parody Jokes cleanup

This was just added to the Anime and Manga page.

• Piccolo's name being "Big Green" in one of the early movie dubs.

It doesn't explain how parodies use this as a joke, it just feels like it's saying something that happened.

Sorry for the double-post, but here's another example that doesn't feel like a parody joke.

This was just added to the western animation page by Kag Swirby.

• Baby Looney Tunes being the show to watch when staying home sick from school in the 2000s, since Cartoon Network put that on during school hours.

That's more of a Twitter joke than a parody joke and I don't even know if it counts. When I was a kid, that show mostly aired in the evenings anyway.

I really REALLY need to purge the western animation page soon. Wolf Thunder just added this underneath the Looney Tunes section.

• Loonatics Unleashed is the quintessential example of the franchise trying too hard to appeal to the current generation.

I think all the pages will have to get chainsawed someday, but this is TRS levels of bad, because what is the baseline for a valid example?

On a side note, when this gets brought to TRS, should we check the wicks, the on-page examples, or both? It seems like some of the worse examples are showing up on the trope’s subpages, rather than off-page.

I say check the offpage wicks but definitely mention onpage wicks as well. The crosswicked examples tend to be just as low on context.

I added the first one myself, because it seems to be the thing other sites joke about the most for this site, but how valid are the other examples?

The second one sounds like complaining mixed with possible drama importation (suspended folks complaining about suspensions), the third and fourth are more Common Knowledge than parody jokes.

And these are less Stock Parody Jokes than just Stock Jokes. More a Memetic Mutation situation here.

On Other Media, about Cats:

• The movie adaptation is bad.

Again, more complaining disguised as a joke.

Aaaaand Dongwa Chan just added another questionable example to the western animation page.

• Celebrity Deathmatch: Pointing out how dated the show is.

Call them over; if we delete it again it might trigger another war.

Could we do a TRS thread with no wick check if we prove that the problem is in the on-page examples? Only, how do we do that?

You'd need to analyze the on-page examples and prove that the issue didn't spread to the outside. So...you might still need a wick check.

And I've seen a few off-page examples, and many of them lack context as well.

^^^ Analysing the on-page examples shouldn't be called a "wick check" though, since it doesn't involve wicks.

You misunderstood me. When I said "wick check", I wasn't referring to on-page examples.

If the thesis is "the page itself needs help", then you need to prove that the problem doesn't exist elsewhere.
