Bumping for help with the above
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallIt will eventually get a Season 3 so I guess it's not wrong. And they're not necessarily speculating, I guess?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Alright, I'll leave it then.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallOkay, I have two things to add to this discussion.
1. Can anyone link to a specific Recap page that they consider exemplary, so we all get a general idea of the ideal way to write recaps?
2. I'd like to add links to two Recap pages I've written; I admit I'm proud of them both. But are they too long and detailed? I tried to keep them to a reasonable length, mentioning everything I considered important without turning them into novellas.

"But... nobody told me I needed a signature!"those seem fine to me at a glance.
Thanks, Twiddler!
"But... nobody told me I needed a signature!"Question about troping on recap pages: if an episode page is troping the episodes that appear in the episode, should they be removed from the main work page (so that the only place they appear is on the Recap page and nowhere else)? Or is it fine for them to be on both the episode page and main work page?
I've seen tropers remove tropes from work pages on the grounds that it's on a recap page, or remove tropes from recap pages because they appear on the main work pages. Their arguments tend to be that they're removing duplication.
It's not something I've ever done (I put them on both on the grounds that most people will never look at recap pages, while people who don't even follow the show might end up on the main work page, where a reference to a specific episode title will be meaningless to them because they're only looking at how the trope is being used). However, given that you're all looking at ways to standardise recap page troping, I thought I'd flag the question
If there's one thing that the RWBY tropers do well, it's the Recap pages (Recap.RWBY). There are a lot of recap pages, but every single one conforms to the same style. note
- The Recap.RWBY index page summarises each volume, and indexes the individual episode pages using the same style formatting for each folder. note
- All the episode pages have (style example: Recap.RWBYV 5 E 6 Known By Its Song):
- Short summaries (one or two lines at most, occasionally a very short paragraph instead): the recapping focus is on the tropes rather than the description text.
- An image from the episode
- A page quote, image quote and end-page quote
- A list of 3+ tropes (and almost all of them have 10+ tropes)
- The same page layout and formatting (Volume/episode number headers, Episode title headers, navigation bar formatting, and who wrote/directed the episode).
- All the recap pages are Spoilers Off, and no spoiling of future episodes is allowed.
- Some of the recap pages have videos on them that showcase a trope that's in action in the episode, but this is the one thing that is not universal to every page.
I have no idea who made the layout decisions for this work's recap, but the fandom's stuck to it quite strictly, making for an extremely consistent recapping experience. It may not be the style others choose, but if you want an example of a comprehensive, consistently designed approach to recap pages, this is actually one work that does exactly that.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.According to this ATT post, if a story trope is on the recap page, it should be removed from the main page. The characterization trope(s) should be on the character page, not a recap page.

He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.Recap.Some Call Me Johnny is just a list of his "review marathons", which are just when he does multiple videos in a row on a single franchise. Doesn't really seem like a proper use of the namespace.
EDIT: It's been cut.

I'm currently working on cleaning up the Animaniacs recaps. I noticed that pretty much every page aside from the first has a weird format and some very odd spelling and capitalization. I just finished episode 2, and I'm about to start on episode 3.
online since 1993 | huge retrocomputing and TV nerd | lee4hmz.info (under construction) | heapershangout.comSo, while cleaning up Recap/ Not So Different wicks, I found two questionable recaps:
- Recap.Atop The Fourth Wall appears to be entirely plot summaries, with no trope examples, at least on the ones I saw.
- Recap.Big Finish Doctor Who is a mess of ZCE examples.
Both of these issues beg the questions of if Recap pages have to follow similar content rules as other work pages do. That is, need at least three tropes with context to avoid being cut.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessMaybe someone can go through the ATFW work page and move work-specific tropes to their applicable Recap pages?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I've noticed that the recap pages for Code Geass on this wiki tend to summarize the episodes in question, however, they don't provide a list of tropes within the episodes. What should we do about that? Thanks.
Scott The Woz is just a list of episodes, and it says that tropes about the episodes belong on the main page. It should be cut, right?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.More like "Let's provide synopses for each installment with no trope lists".
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportSynopses alone are fine, but I think in this case it'd be better have this split up across the individual work pages. So Recap.Metal Gear 1, Recap.Metal Gear 2, etc.
Recap.Case Closed for the long-running Detective Conan series. Ok, fair point, its a Long-Runner, but clicking open the folders... its just a long list of episode titles without any links.
The page isn't dead — it's constantly updated according to edit history — but again, is that kosher?
It should either index at least one recap subpage or contain synopses. It looks like it does neither.
Moved all the Metal Gear recaps.

Recap. The Real Ghostbusters is just a list of episodes.
For every low there is a high.Ditto Recap.Eight Simple Rules and Recap.Angry Birds Stella
I'm assuming if we come across something like this, we can bring out the chainsaw?

Maybe?
I don't know if there's actually been any consensus on that.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI honestly don't know if the episode lists really hurt in these cases. Would it be better if we redlinked them all as to encourage people to actually make the recap pages?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. The Chart Show is a list of lists of songs. Is the work even tropable? Two of the three tropes are misuse. Do we have an "Is this a tropable work?" thread for this kind of thing?
Sounds like someone wants to use TvTropes as his (?) personal blog for... reasons.
As all those pages were made 7 years ago and have not seen any updates ever since, and most of them have between 0 to 20 inbound wicks, I say bring out the katana
Don't know if this is the right place to bring this up, but Amphibia just had a Season 3 folder added that consists only of a poster and "TBA". It was added by Thequietman.
Is this OK, or no?
