I think Tropes Are Flexible would mean that trope could apply to insect noises causing damage (such as the Pokémon attack called Bug Buzz, which causes damage and has nothing to do with what we call Bug Buzz), even if insects' buzzing sounds aren't made with their mouths (as far as I know; I'm the wrong person to ask).

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Clock is ticking!
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportMultiple people (including myself) were in favor of renaming, but there was also some debate over the definition.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. How about this?
- The main Bug Buzz should be renamed and repurposed as "character is annoyed by a buzzing sound".
- Flies Equals Evil should be defined as when insects and buzzing sounds are used to signify evil.
- The "Bugs mean death" concept should be split from Flies Equals Evil into another trope.
- "Insect buzzing used as an attack" should be moved under Make Me Wanna Shout or split off to their own trope, perhaps titled Bug Buzz Attack after the same Trope Namer (Pokémon).
- Other uses should be moved to appropriate tropes, such as Cicadian Rhythm.
- The old Bug Buzz page should disambiguate all the tropes on the Insect Index that involve insect buzzing, plus Make Me Wanna Shout if it is decided that "Bug Buzz attack" fits that trope and should not be a distinct subtrope.
^ Sounds good to me.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.
If renamed, I do like Bugging Buzzy Bugs.
^ I'ds like a bit more of a distinction to Bug Buzz unless the disambig page also gets a new name.
Does this crowner look good? [1]
I'm back!^ You are not asking for a disambig page?
Okay, that option has been added; I just felt it wasn't really necessary since DAB is usually done anyway after renaming.
I'm back! Why does the disambiguation only happen if the trope is renamed?
I'd like to apologize for all this.Hollering again for the crowner...
I'm back!Crowner is attached now.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo one of them is at 10:0, but it's the only one that has nothing to do with the actual trope in question. For the others...admittedly, I'm not really sold on any of them.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSo...In that case, I guess we just do the top option?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSo, I guess the crowner can be called but basically every option relating to Bug Buzz doesn't seem have enough votes (11-3 for redefining Bug Buzz enough?) I agree with the top crowner options but I don't think it was a good idea to add multiple tropes to the mix. I honestly think it should be done over or at least make another crowner specifically for Bug Buzz. But if we are going through with this, the thread topic should be changed because it won't be about Bug Buzz anymore.
Macron's notesI think the crowner is safe to call in favor of the following:
- Define Flies Equals Evil as "insects and buzzing sounds used to signify evil" and split the "flies means death" concept into a new trope.
- "Insect buzzing used as an attack" should be split to a new subtrope of Make Me Wanna Shout.
- Define Bug Buzz as "character is annoyed by a buzzing insect".
The only other option within consensus range relied on the trope being renamed, but the rename option isn't within consensus range itself.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. That makes sense. Didn’t know if the last option had enough consensus or not.
Macron's notesI think 3.67:1 counts as being within consensus range. Either way, those three options don't appear to be mutually exclusive with each other.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Calling in favor of the following options:
- Define Flies Equals Evil as "insects and buzzing sounds used to signify evil" and split the "flies means death" concept into a new trope.
- "Insect buzzing used as an attack" should be split to a new subtrope of Make Me Wanna Shout.
- Define Bug Buzz as "character is annoyed by a buzzing insect".
The fourth option in concensus range will not be enacted as the "rename" option has failed consensus.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportClock is ticking. Do we have sandboxes up, at least?
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportIf not, I could help out.
Crown Description:
Bug Buzz has an ambiguous title, is underused, and not all uses fit the definition. It was also pointed out that Flies Equals Evil has an ambiguous definition.
