Book 1
Family Matters is an occult fiction book series, written by American author J.H Pratt. It is centred on adoptive brothers Angelo and Jasper, as well as a demon hunter named Cothi.
The first novel, Bonds, begins when half incubus Angelo meets a demon hunter on the way back from work. This sets into motion a series of events stemming back to when both Jasper and Angelo were orphaned as children.
This book series provides examples of the following tropes:
- City with No Name: The name of the city where the book takes place is never actually mentioned.
- Death of a Child: Thom finds a demon he was hunting devouring the body of small child that had been exploring an abandoned house with her older sibling and their friend.
- Demon Lords And Arch Devils:Asmodeus makes an appearance in the epilogue.
- Fantastic Racism: One of the core elements of the series. Hunters are infamous for their sense of superiority towards demons, considering them all dangerous monsters that need to be controlled and executed if they step out of line.
