Character pages are a large chunk of the wiki, but they're often filled with problems that don't get resolved. These problems include:
- Zero Context Examples
- Indentation problems, including bulleting tropes under supertropes or tropeslashing
- Spoiler tag misuse
- A lack of alphabetization
- Empty character folders
- Plagiarized character descriptions
- Misused tropes, or tropes that don't belong on character pages
- Broken or incorrect formatting
- Subjective / Trivia trope mentions
Per How to Create a Character Page, character pages should only include tropes that describe the characters. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, Unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask about that at Are These Character Tropes.
All characters must have at least one contextualized trope for their section or folder to be visible. If you find a character that has no contextualized tropes present, comment out the entire section and add this tag:

Yeah, they probably should be moved back to their respective series pages.
I agree that begging to be saved from death doesn't make one a coward.
Jurassic World 2020 has far too many ZCE's. Some commented, some not.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportIt been almost a month so once again asking about my proposed moves/splits for the Dead Island character pages.
Also, the Origins Companions section on Characters.Baldurs Gate III is 50K bytes, should they be split? The whole page is 81K bytes, so the main page would still be 30K without them.
Characters.Date A Live Spirit Of Origin
While I think there is some legit distinction between Phantom and Mio Takamiya, I don't think "First Spirit" needs its own folder.
¿?¡!General Shepherd from Characters.Modern Warfare Task Force 141 is a walking spoiler and most of his tropes are spoiler tagged. Can I remove the spoiler tags and put Unmarked Spoilers on his folder ?
Edited by StalkerGamer on Mar 5th 2023 at 2:16:00 PM
We've got (tagged) spoilers above the line for both characters in the 'Other Characters' section of Death in Paradise.
My understanding is that no spoiler tagging is allowed above the line - so should we delete this text and let the examples deliver the spoilers?
Since the site doesn't use outside of examples as per Administrivia.Handling Spoilers, it might be a good idea.

He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself. Many BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger pages have this warning
2. BlazBlue - Makoto Nanaya is the only subpage that has questionable art, and I wouldn't call it NSFW.
I don't think this warning is needed.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupAgreed, that art is risque but doesn't toe the line IMO. I suppose there could be in-line weblinked art that's NSFW, but I'm not about to dig through the pages to find out.
I decided to rewatch The Hunger Games series which reminded me of a years-long grievance: that Characters. The Hunger Games Film is basically a duplicate of Characters. The Hunger Games Literature with actor info and Adaptation Deviation and such.
The films are streamlined-but-largely-faithful adaptations, so I still don't see the need for copypasted character sheets floating around and would prefer an "In the movie, he..." integration. I am willing to do the legwork for this merge. Any objections?

Honestly let's do it.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Sounds good. Probably just needs a brief intro note or comment to explain how similar they are.
No objections from me.
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.Neat, I'll toss up some sandboxes soon.
I forgot to include this in my original post, but the Literature pages also host the characters for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, a Distant Prequel. I prefer that something that takes place in the past or future is kept separate, so any objections to moving these guys out to Characters. The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes?
Works for me. I know the lines blur with some works in the same verses due to Long-Lived characters or Interquels filling the time gaps, but where we've got a clean break, it seems better to reflect that on the page.
Aside from anything else, it's probably easier for tropers to read that way.

Just a question, when a character has two identities (say a superhero and their civilian identity), do we make seperate folders for their identities or combine in one folder.
I ask this because the character page for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox has two seperate folder for the Monstrums and their civilian indetities (White Cat/Krysha Pendelton and Raging Bull/ Yufa Gamberg), which not only feels kinda redundant, it also ignores that the 3 other monstrums (Hawk, Doll and Renegade) also have civilian identites.
Should I combine them or just leave them be?
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AThe usual rule is a single folder.
We've used separate folders when they genuinely have different personalities for each identity - e.g. characters such as Hulk or Moon Knight.
Aight, started a sandbox for the page, combining their identities together. Any help is much appreciated.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AAgreed, if something is more of a 'mask' (e.g. Batman/Bruce Wayne) or the identities are rather intertwined (e.g. Superman/Clark Kent) it makes more sense to trope them as one character. A Split Personality is a cleaner break.
With the whole "two identities, one folder" thing, I have another question. Back when I was editing the character page for Cafe Enchante I made two seprate folders for Mikado's assistant and his true identity as Solitus, should I combine them both? Because the character get's very spoiler-y in Il's route.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AThe archetypal example of a split for spoiler reasons is a "The Killer" folder in a murder mystery. Such splits are still allowed if there's a good enough reason for it.
In this case, the character's "disguised" identity is minor and only has three listed tropes, so his not having a folder wouldn't set off any red flags to an unspoiled reader. I'd merge the folders under his "true" identity.
Super Heroine Chronicle has ZCE's, spoiler tag violations, and a bit of tropeslashing.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportAs someone who has been heavy on editing the pages listed in the Superman index, I've found that a lot of it feels very disorganized and messy, especially the pages detailing Superman – Supporting Cast and Supergirl (The Character). I have been intending on improving those pages by working to make them cleaner, organized, and smoother to explore, but given the size and scope of such, it's best that I get some approval before going ahead with such.
For the Supporting Cast side, I would propose including sub-sections for better indenting and identification to allow an easier way to find characters. Here's what I would propose...
Metropolis and the Daily Planet
- Lois Lane
- Jimmy Olsen
- Perry White
- Bibbo Bibbowski
- Bill Henderson
- Cat Grant
- Dan "Terrible" Turpin
- Josh Coyle
- Lucy Lane
- Maggie Sawyer
- Morgan Edge (Pre-Crisis)
- Newsboy Legion
- Ron Troupe
- Steve Lombard
- Dick Armstrong
- Simone D'Niege
- Franklin Stern
Smallville
- Jonathan and Martha Kent
- Lana Lang
- Pete Ross
Kryptonians
- Kryptonians
- Supergirl
- Superboy II
- Superboy III/Nightwing III
- Superboy IV
- Power Girl
- Krypto the Superdog
- Steel
- Jor-El and Lara
- Kelex
- Flamebird
Other Heroes
- Legion of Super-Heroes
- Mon-El
- Alexander Luthor, Sr.
- Ambush Bug
- Eradicator
- Gangbuster
- The Guardian
- Halk-Kar
- New Super-Man
- Rampage
- Strange Visitor
- Superwoman I
- Vartox (Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis)
Other Supporting Characters
- The Kandorians
- Lori Lemaris
- Beacon
Other Versions of Superman
- Superman of Earth-2
- Calvin Ellis/Superman of Earth-23
- Superman of Earth-22
- Superman of Earth-30
- Superman Kon-EL
- Kal Kent
Now on the topic of Supergirl, I am aware there are several versions of the character, but I think the core identity, Kara-Zor-El, feels needlessly separated into different Pre-Crisis, Post-Crisis, and Post-Flashpoint versions, something that I think is weird and jarring, especially when other characters who've been rebooted and redefined over the years don't have such issue.
I would propose the folders specifically about Kara of the main canon be merged with letter-organized sheets to box up her tropes. The versions of Supergirl that are either not Kara'' or are a version of Kara from different Earts should have sheets below with the following indentation...
Other Versions of Supergirl
Hopefully, this helps.

"Money is the goddamn plan! Have some faith, y'all!"
I noticed the character pages for Kirby, King Dedede, and Meta Knight have folders dedicated to their anime and light novel counterparts, on top of their mainline game counterparts.
Normally, characters from different incarnations of a franchise tend to have their folders on pages dedicated to that incarnation instead of sharing a page with the "main" counterpart (like how all the different incarnations of Sonic have their folders on character pages dedicated to those incarnations instead of sharing a page with the main counterpart from the games), so it seems odd and needlessly cluttered to have the anime and light novel incarnations of Kirby, Dedede, and Meta Knight alongside the main incarnations? Especially since they are meant to cover their game counterparts.
So should we move them back to the anime and light novel character pages (especially since they already have folders), or is it not a big deal and I'm just looking at it weirdly?
