Star Wars Visions must have been really good for streamers because we're now getting an animated anthology set in the world of The Boys!

Huh. I didn’t like Star Wars Visions all that much but maybe this will be better.

It's not exactly the same thing - Visions was anime specifically, whereas this seems to be more western animation, and while Visions was not bound by Canon, it seems this one is.

I'm certainly intrigued to see more details about this. Simon Racciopa is the name that particularly jumps out as there have been comparisons between the Boys and Invincible due to the Amazon factor and now we get to see the creator of one series (albeit "just" the adaptation) working on the other.

The latest (and apparently last) 7 on Seven is up and features a hilariously on point "interview" with Hughie himself.

Season 3 first look. I wonder if this will be the season where Homelander finally snaps and the public realizes how dangerous he really is.

x3 I feel like Mr. Coleman's new segment is just Vought kicking him upstairs to his private isolated channel while replacing him with a new host who toes the corporate line.

As for the teaser, I agree that Homelander's probably going to slowly unravel as the season progresses. The sounds of the camera get more intense during this teaser not only to emphasize the tension that Homelander brings every time he's on camera, but also because the POV switched to how his super hearing makes every camera flash way louder than it would be perceived by a normal person.

Boy. That escalated quickly. I mean, that really got out of hand fast.

(Also, probably just my imagination slotting it into the same tone neighborhood, but was the animation reminding anyone of Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss?)

It weirdly reminds me of a generic Hanna-Barbera art style but with Invincible's ridiculously detailed gore.

That's exactly what it reminded me of. I thought it was fantastic.

The music seems like a dead ringer for the kind of Mickey Mousing you'd hear on Animaniacs (or a lot of the 80-90s Warner Bros/Amblin collaboration cartoons for that manner).

Okay they are definitely having fun with this.

Another trailer for the animated anthology series has dropped:

The nature of Diabolical being an anthology series made me imagine the idea of a horror story where supervillains from other worlds (Basically expies of various villains from Marvel, DC, heck maybe even superhero media outside of the big two like My Hero Academia, Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10, TMNT, He-Man etc.) find themselves in the world of the Boys (or a legally distinct version of it) and start running amok, with the cast having to fight for survival against these new baddies who seem too much for even the supes. Like I could imagine the trailer starting off with stuff you’d expect from the Boys, only for Billy Butcher (or a Captain Ersatz of him) to get brutally offed by a villain based off Muscular, The Shredder, or the Joker and then everything goes to absolute hell.

It’s also inspired by how the comic’s YMMV page mentioned that the worlds of the superhero media that the Boys sets out to mock has all sorts of dangers that even the Badass Normal vigilantes that Garth Ennis jerks off to loves would be unable to handle.

Aside from that tangent, I’m excited to see what’s in store when Diabolical releases. Especially the laser baby episode.
