And also, I missed this Dark Toons episode: the infamous Big-Lipped Alligator Moment, Pink Elephants on Parade from Dumbo.

Also Doug: (Talks about a specific scary movie sequence for Dark Toons)

Strange Magic:

Hey, I recently watched Rob and Brad's vlog on that movie, where the former said he needed to show it to Doug!

Stray observations:

  • "But not the one with the duck!"
  • "Oh, Strange Magic, that makes a lot more sense."
  • "Oh, did I just break the Matrix?"
  • "Do you want to make a dead man?"
  • "Daddy, I do not care about the taxation of the goblin separatists."
  • "You forgot there was a possum in Over the Hedge? Well, then we share the same legacy!"
  • You know, Evan Rachel Wood has a very pleasant voice, actually, slightly lower than in usual female animation protagonists.
  • "Hello, I'm Dr. Frankenstein! ...I don't know."
  • "Oh yes, I put a brain in the monster, that connects!"

Next month: Terminator Month, with reviews of all the six movies.

Just a person. He/him.

I was wondering when I saw them talk about this movie before, thanks.

Also, is it weird that I’m infinitely more excited to see him talking about the more obscure and/or terrible ones than the first two?

[up][up]Ha! I was wondering if he'd ever tackle that one! (But was a little worried he would bash it for being "girly" or something.)

[down] I know that he reviews bad movies? (Which isn't even entirely true as he's reviewed movies he likes as well, such as Wonder Woman (2017).) I just was wondering how he'd approach this one in particular.

[up] Uh no, he normally reviews terrible films, you know.

I would have called this one of my favorite reviews if he mentioned "The Rise Of Skywalker", as he mentioned every Star Wars movie except that one.

He didn't, so I'm not.

My favorite joke was the Marylin Manson one.

Oh hey, did you guys notice he showed a clip from Terminator 2 during the review? Not sure if that was intentional or not.

Side Note: Terminator 2 was released in what I’d call the Year Of Female: Thelma & Louis, The Silence of the Lambs, The Prince of Tides, and Beauty & The Beast.

It’s rare for any year to have that many classic, feminist movies. There’d be death threats these days.

Ah, the classic "Lucas has good ideas but can't deliver them". I honestly expect Doug to review this after Rbb watched it on Brad Ruin Rob's Day.

Honestly the only bad thing about the film is the face and the awkward animation they have. And being a musical.

The Terminator Month begins with... well, The Terminator:

Stray observations:

  • I'm surprised: Doug said during a stream that the theme month would involve six movies, of which two would be covered in one video. I assumed he meant this one and Terminator 2: Judgment Day but apparently not?
  • With the face he makes, Doug looks more like Sylvester Stallone in the thumbnail.
  • "The 80s is dripping off this like a Reaganomics episode of He-Man."
  • "I wouldn't *win* that argument but I'd make it just because it's funny."
  • "It's like they're getting their wardrobe at the Goodwill *for* the Goodwill!"
  • That was the most random idea for an ad in a while.
  • "—Austrian accent, it's designed to blend in!"
  • "EEP."
  • "You've replaced my penis, how kind of you."

Originally Arnold wasn't even considered to play the Terminator, they wanted the Terminator to be like a fast, subtle infiltrator menace. Cameron just went to meet Arnold out of obligation...until he saw Arnold body and he decided the Terminator will be an unstopable killing machine.

Demo Reel was So Okay, It's Average in my opinion. I think the problem was the pacing and the tone. If The Reveal had been established from the get-go it would have been way more interesting. The three main characters were pretty damn good because Doug, Malcolm, and Rachel can be great actors. But everything surrounding them felt too wacky to care about.

Also I couldn't care less about the actual parody part of the show. It'd work better if it was character-driven.

Personally I have issues with the show that prevent me from rewatching it or even reading the trope page because my ex-friend put the show on a goddamn pedestal but that's neither here or there.
