Ever had a crossover concept that you think is awesome but when you go to tell someone about it they think it is complete crap?

I don't know what it is but I alwys thought that Chronicles of Narnia and Avatar the last Airbender would make a good crossover. I mean, they are both kid shows/books after all. How can this not work!?

How's this sound? An Action RPG (preferably on the PS 2) that combines, wait for it...

...

Final Fantasy and the Disney Animated Canon!

Trust me, I know it sounds crazy, but here's what I'm thinking - you travel between different worlds based on disney films, so most of the supporting cast and the villains (and thus bosses) are from all these classic disney films. Meanwhile, there's a bunch of cameos from the Final Fantasy games, you know, to entice some older players perhaps. Ooh, ooh!

The original characters, including the protagonist and main villain, would be done in a Final Fantasy like art style, and the core gameplay would be, like, a really dynamic and exciting revamp on Final Fantasy, with various spells and terms coming from that series. Not summons, though - seriously, who wants to summon Bahamut when you could summon, I dunno, the Genie from Aladdin, or Mushu!

I'm thinking, the plot would revolve around the Disney Princesses, and maybe these weird shadowy creatures are causing trouble - a sort of 'Light vs Dark' kind of theme going on. I know it sounds nuts, but I bet it could be really good, if you pulled it off right.

I believe the joke is "Kingdom Hearts is pretty much a fanfic in video game form."

Personally, I was thinking it'd be cool to do a crossover between The Man Who Was Thursday and V for Vendetta.

Fanfiction I hate.

Kingdom Hearts is pretty much a fanfic in video game form.

Perhaps is that one of the reasons why it became so popular? Anyone here could have thought of it, with being the ultimate Original Character-Audience Surrogate. Sora could be replaced by any other character, that the plot would be practically the same (I tested this in my first feature length fanfic (which I consider many parts of it to be an Old Shame)).

It's not hard to suggest different stuff to crossover. I remember Eliezer Yudwoksi (the guy from Science Potter, I'm not writing his name right) in the forum here saying that the best fanfics work an outlandish premise and make it work. He used Fallout Equestria as an example, combined the dark atmosphere of Fallout with the epithome of Periphery Demographic of My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic and made it worse. While I have no interest in both series and you don't like it (I'm pretty cool with that, because it means the more caustic you are in the liveblog, the more fun I can get when I read grin), it's undeniable that it became famous, for exactly this and applying rule #43 (I wish I could see Lauren Faust's reaction to this fic).

It also can be a failure, like all crossover between Neon Genesis Evangelion and Code Geass, because both series have Assimilation Plot as a driving point, but the means to attain are very different, not to mention the settings; there are fanfic recomendations in the NGE FanFicRecs page for NGE/CG crossover, but I think are undeserved because the author failed to grasp how different the settings and themes are, while the protagonists and Big Bad plots have points of contact. While a crossover like this can be possible, it needs planning.

I, for myself, I'm writing a Touhou-Kingdom Hearts fanfic because I saw a plot bunny on how Heartless and youkai are related and how the themes of each series may converge and I could have an opportunity to work with my favorite characters, but I had to rewrite the entire fictional history of Gensokyo to fit in the Kingdom Hearts universe, but managing to keep the core of it, or attempting to. Hopefully, I expect to write a good work, hehe.

[up][up][up] ... Not trolling, making a joke. I played every game except for Coded and 3D, yes, I know what Kingdom Hearts is. XD

And, yeah, basically, Kingdom Hearts is a particularly creative, and high quality, official cross-over fan fiction. Well, high quality in the amount of sheer dedication and people working on it, anyway. XD

Speaking of which, I did actually write the first three (and started the fourth) chapters of a Kingdom Hearts fanfic which took the idea of 'coming up with all of the worldbuilding stuff first, then replacing Sora with his complete opposite'.

Hence, you had a angsty, cowardly, pessimistic, physically frail introvert heading out not out of boredom but out of necessity, who was *specifically looking* for his mother (as opposed to apparently forgetting she even exists, unlike a certain keyblade wielding hero). That, and his only friend. The whole thing was written to intentionally subvert many things typical of both fanfics and JRP Gs. It also focused on classic Final Fantasy characters in its cameos rather than newer characters (with Firion being a member of the party and the Emperor as the other half of the Big Bad Duumvirate) and was pretty AU in setting details and stuff.

I'm rambling, though.

On-topic:

I did once start writing a cross-over between Ace Lightning and Sonic The Hedgehog. Yeah. :/

Yep, KH has effort (though it's necessary when you have a budget and expectations from your employer and customers). Given how good a character is developed, things can change a lot, having an opposite of Sora can be an interesting thing. When I wrote, I wrote Heather as receiveing a Keyblade, and then she started from an egoist anti-hero and then I developed her into a full hero. While I did enjoy writing her character development, I wasn't a good writer, I had a "Cartoon X-overs" mentality and thus I even plagiarized some things (but I edited to remove it), failed completely at world building since I just carbon-copied the original setting, I wish I could delete some chapters, but I can't do this in respect to my readers (one of them even wrote a sequel). It also even gained a recomendation here in the page for TDI, and I enjoyed the last battle (granted it was the only chapter that was beta'ed).

Personally, I think that Super Smash Bros is even more succesful in doing this, especially the first, it's a hand animating action figures! And it's awesome!

But to not derail the thread, a crossover I've been thinking recently is Spec Ops The Line and Touhou, with Captain Walker, now a youkai, doing to Gensokyo what he did with Dubai (and Cabul and Pyongyang, but that's in-fic).

Blassreiter x Evangelion

I figure both have severe christen overtones so why not?

Couple of months later and I'm working on the plot outline for the second arc. Basicly, SEELE tried to fiddle with ADAM but Zwolf got wind of it and convinced everyone that poking the Giant Apocalyptic Alien was a Bad Idea. So instead they start taking tissue samples and experiment with planting them into humans. One thing they found out is that the pale horse nanomachines react oddly to angel tissue. So they start by implanting. Zwolf would have done something but then the events of Blassreiter happened and Zwolf essentially ceased to exist.

Now, we have the three "Children", Asuka Shinji and Rei, who are Amalgam purebloods, meaning that they were born amalgamized. This, of course, means they're rather insane. Asuka halucinates about dolls and [[nightmarefetishist has a thing]] for terrifying guys. Shinji is completely disassociated with his anger, usually, but is dead silent while raging. Rei is the most normal one, She just has co-dependency issues that make her [[stalkerwithacrush sneak into your room]] and make you breakfast.

Anyhow, they all get recuited into neo-XAT. Meanwhile, with Zwolf gone, SEELE is making a play. The kicker? all three children, and many other amalgam purebloods, have angel tissue implanted in them

I've frequently thought of a 3-way crossover between Danny Phantom, American Dragon: Jake Long and the Life and Times of Juniper Lee. I've even considered them as a "Big Three" similar to DC comics' "Big Three" (by which i mean Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman).

However, for the longest time, i've always imagined the group having Jake Long as the leader, while June and Danny were both frequently arguing with one another. But after putting more thought into it and making a list of each character's pros and cons, i've noticed that Jake is actually the most flawed of the three, while June has the least amount of character flaws. Even Danny seems more mature in comparison. Now i'm left with the issue: how can Jake possibly qualify as the mature leader?

Subsequently, another plot i was thinking about was Hayley Long and Ray Ray Lee having a little romance. It somehow fit, because while they are opposite in every single way, that could be what actually be what attracts them to one another.

I'm starting to question how this idea could work, but i need real feedback.

[up]He can't. Jake's far too cocky to actually work as a leader. Sure, he might try the Law of Chromatic Superiority card, but either of the other two would really be a much better choice.

Hm....

The Runaways meets The Dresden Files

The Council learns that a powerful Practitioner- the daughter of two of Warlocks so dangerous that the White Council couldn't bring them down- is running around LA with a group of meta-humans decking criminals and ignoring the Laws Of Magic completely. Their is a incident where she blatantly breaks the Laws Of Magic and it goes public, Carlos and his recruits are dispatched to either capture and try her, or deliver summary judgment. Nico refuses to come quietly and a fight breaks out.

The Runaways clean the Wardens clock. Badly.

Afterwards, Nico is contacted by the local Paranet Chapter (who, being LA residents know how much good the Runaways do and refuse to believe she did anything wrong) who encourage them to seek out Harry's help in Chicago to resolve the situation. The Runaways brush it off, but the Wardens keep showing up, more and more of them each time, and keep getting in their way while their Hero-ing. Eventually Nico caves to pressure from Victor and they go to seek out Harry.
