Alright, this is a huge necro bump, but I just wanted to make sure we're following proper protocol here.

Basically, ~crazysamaritan and I were talking in PM and decided that we needed a short project to put all of the anime titles under their proper name. As it stands, Lupin III (Green Jacket), Lupin III (Red Jacket), and Lupin III (Pink Jacket) are all under Fan Nickname titles when actual ones exist, meaning we need to move the pages and their subpages to their proper titles - based on the research I've done, that means moving them to Lupin III Part One (then custom titling it to Part 1), Lupin III: Part II (which I just found out is currently a redirect), and Lupin III: Part III (also currently a redirect).

Basically, if I'm understanding this right, we need to cut the Part II and Part III redirects so that we can move them properly, move everything connected to the previous pages to the right ones, then either make the old titles redirects or manually change all the wicks.

Crazy, did I miss anything, or can I go ahead and start the process?

A couple of points....

It is a misuse of the custom title to rewrite numbers that aren't at the start of the work's title, so you shouldn't have Part One custom-titled to Part 1. You can just name it Part 1 instead. By "proper name", it would be the "most recent English title". I'm not sure which one fits. Discotek has it as Lupin the 3rd: The Complete First Series, Crunchyroll has it as Lupin the Third Part 1 (no colon), Netflix also says Lupin the Third Part 1 (also no colon, might be location-locked). So I'd guess that the latter translation is more recent, but we'd want the other name as a redirect anyway. If they're all being used concurrently, then site precedence gives us the ability to determine via consensus.

The normal process to move a retranslated/renamed work is to edit the page at the correct title, but with me having moderator powers, I can just move the page after cutting the redirect. In either case, we turn the old page into a redirect to the new title. The advantage of me using mod tools is that the page history stays with the article. But I don't have time to check/fix the wicks so I couldn't do this by myself. I have to prep for Otakon and buy more Lupin the IIIrd merch.

Other than that, I think you gave a good summary.

Another cinema release! Both Cagliostro and The First will be appearing in American theaters again this summer. The former will have a limited run starting July 16 and the latter will be a Fathom Event on August 29th and 31st.

Alright, so in short, we need to cut the two redirects, have you use mod tools to move the three pages to the previously listed titles (except move Green Jacket to Part 1 instead of Part One, I didn't realize that's how custom titles worked so that's on me), then redirect everything? Seems simple enough. I'll start by throwing the redirects on the Cut List, then once those are gone where should I request the moves - do I really need to if we're just doing it here, or is there a special thread I need to ask in for procedure's sake?

Just putting the move request as part of the Cut request with my name should be fine, but I won't be working on that for at least eight hours.

Alright, so I put the cut requests in and, being an idiot, forgot to mention you, but at least now the redirects are cut, so we're good to start making moves. Here's a list of everything that needs moved - I'm cool with doing this however you want to Crazy, whether it's me making the moves and then you move the histories, or you just moving the page titles, I don't know which one's easier on your end. I also don't know if moving the page titles would automatically change the subpages, but just in case they don't, here's the full list.

If this list is either a help or hindrance, feel free to mod edit however you need to, whether that's striking out things your done with or just getting rid of it entirely - if I'm able to give permission for you to do that, then you have it. Either way, just let me know what the next step is here and I'm happy to help.

GKIDS netted the theatrical license for Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, so they're bringing it to theaters with a 4K restoration in the original Japanese and in the 1992 English dub.

(Oh shoot. I think the 1992 dub was the one where they were legally barred from actually calling Lupin by his name? Drat. )

Of course they will. Look who created them in the first place. I was future-proofing them in case it was ever needed.

Well would you look at that - I probably should've looked at the histories of those pages, I didn't even think of that, but obvious thing is obvious

I'll update the indexes now, then get to work on wick cleaning

Edit: Okay, I didn't get all of the indexes, but I got most of the main anime indexes at least and made a dent in the wick cleaning - I can start on the rest tomorrow morning, but it's just a bit past 1 AM here and I need to go to bed. At this point, at least, it's just cleaning up the main titles and a few ghost wicks.

Continuing from the Lupin III cleanup (I'll have a full list of ghost wicks at the end, that was just the beginning), only this time it relates to Monster.Lupin III - please change the Anime.Lupin III Green Jacket wick to Anime.Lupin III Part 1, and the Anime.Lupin III Red Jacket wick to Anime.Lupin III Part II. Sandbox.Monster Lupin III doesn't exist at the moment, so that change will stay upon the next swap.

Apologies for the double post, but I figure this is worth the bump - the wick cleaning is almost complete. At this point, it's ghost wicks and locked paged. I've already put requests in on the Locked Pages thread, but I figured I'd crosspost the ghost wicks in case you see them here first:

You got tricked on the blue links; they were not ghost wicks but { } wicks that cut off part of the name. For some reason Manga/{{Lupin III}} was seen as the correct way to write some of the things.

It was also officially announced that Kiyoshi Kobayashi, voice of Jigen since 1969, is officially retiring at age 88, and that the new series will introduce Akio Ōtsuka as the voice of Jigen going forward.
