YMMV / Work It Out Wombats!

Go To

  • Adorkable: Mr. E is cranky most of the time, but he gets endearingly awkward whenever he's around Ellie.
  • Awesome Music: The opening theme as well as the interstitial songs in each episode are all catchy and fun to listen to on their own accords.
  • Diagnosed by the Audience:
    • Some theories suggest that Zadie has ADHD, due to impulsivity and not being able to sit still.
    • Mr. E is speculated to have OCD due to his perfection issues.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: As you may deduce from reading this show's subpages on this site and on the Fandom wiki, Mr. E is the most popular side character of the show. Most people find his Butt-Monkey antics hilarious, and appreciate his soft, dorky side he only shows around a few people.
  • Fanfic Fuel: The fact that the wombat kids don't seem to have any parents opens up a wealth of fanfiction opportunities explaining their absence.
  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • In "Zeke's Collection Selection," Zeke says that he has never heard Mr. E laugh. This is despite the fact that Mr. E clearly laughed in Zeke's presence in "Make It Snow." However, this makes sense; Zeke is only four years old, and four year olds don't really have strong memories. The most likely scenario is that Zeke forgot about hearing Mr. E laugh.
    • Gabriela, an eagle, being a mail carrier makes sense when you remember that the logo of the United States Postal Service contains an eagle.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Raise your hand if you are watching because of Yanna McIntosh, who is known for playing Hermione Granger from the San Francisco production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
  • Mis-blamed: The show's hatedom believes it was responsible for Elinor Wonders Why getting Screwed by the Network, even though they have nothing to do with each other besides sharing an animation studio. Although Elinor fans thought their show was canned, once season 2 was confirmed to be in production, their claims of Wombats "killing Elinor" became unfounded.
  • Moe: All of the wombats are adorable, especially Zeke with his stuffed animal Snout.
  • Periphery Demographic: Like other modern PBS Kids shows, this isn't popular online because just kids are watching it. Many parents enjoy watching with their kids and other nostalgic adults came back to PBS for this show.
  • Spiritual Successor: It's like a modern version of PB&J Otter, as both shows star a trio of animal siblings who help people in their community.
  • Sweet Dreams Fuel: Another sweet show about cute animals doing cute things. The conflicts are light and all of the characters are likable.
  • Toy Ship: Even though both are only four years old, some fans like to ship Zeke and Louisa together, because they are best friends and always hang out together. Given ammo in the New Year's Special, where Louisa counts Zeke and Snout instead of sheep to fall asleep.
  • Viewer Species Confusion: Ellie is a moose, but some viewers think she's a giraffe, despite not having spots or antlers like a giraffe. Perhaps it's because of how tall she is.
  • The Woobie:
  • Woolseyism: In "Cafe Chaos," Louisa tells Zeke that "luncheon" is a fancy word for lunch. Since the word for "luncheon" is the same as "lunch" in Spanish ("almuerzo"), the Spanish dub changes this line to Louisa explaining how you can also have a special lunch. This dialogue changes manages to still convey the same meaning.
English: "Did you not know 'luncheon' is a fancy word for lunch?"
Spanish: "¿No sabias que también puedes tener un almuerzo especial?"Translation
