YMMV / Vs. Mouse

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo:
    • Due to Experiment's positioning in the 2.5 update, his down pose ends up looking like he's...well...
    • In V2, Suicide Mouse collapses onto the ground and starts shuddering halfway through "Insanity Psychosis" before transforming into his final form. However, since this is done with basic squash-and-stretch bobbing, it looks like he's humping the ground instead.
  • Anti-Climax Boss: "The End", the final bonus song of the V2 build, has you face of against the scary looking Costume… and it's a very slow and easy song that only lasts about 1 and a half minutes (20 seconds of which is taken up by the intro and outro). This is fixed in the 2.5 build, which doubles the length of the song with a much harder second phase.
  • Bile Fascination: The V1 build of the mod is near-ubiquitously known in the FNF fandom... for being one of the worst mods to gain public attention, particularly due to the infamous Welcome Old. V2, while much less reviled, is still well-known as a very low-quality mod among its competition. This seems to have been acknowledged in the 2.5 build, as a "Classic" mode was added that recreates the first version, abysmal music and all.
  • Broken Base:
    • While most people can agree that V2 was pretty bad, how bad was it? Are there only bad songs, or are a few of them alright? Is the art itself bad, or is it just a case of poor animation?
    • Olimac31's remixes of Disk-3 were the first major public cases of improvement towards the mod's music, so reactions were split on how well SansPZSG's replacement remasters held up after Olimac's departure.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Saster, a well-known composer in the Friday Night Funkin' community, was among the many to poke fun at Vs. Mouse's quality. Months later, not only would he create a remix of "Welcome" after a Twitter bet, but he also became one of the mod's directors. Saster himself even lampshaded this in a Twitter post.

    • This is still Vs. Mouse, right?Explanation
  • Moe: The leaked 2.6 version of the mod includes reskins of Boyfriend and Girlfriend for Disk-1, the latter of whom gains an adorably cheerful grin and Cute Little Fangs to go with her Mickey-themed outfit.
  • Narm:
    • Suicide Mouse's Nightmare Face looks pretty scary… outside of the fact that quite a few of his animations have him go cross-eyed, which can be pretty hard to take seriously.
    • Some of the mod's scarier-looking characters can have their effect spoiled by the poor animation, strange vocal choices, and amateurish songs in the V2 update, most notably Experiment and The Toons.
    • Near the end of "Scrap", the Toons groan out, "Hey, Boyfriend... I WILL EAT YOU!" Between the cheesiness of the line and the poor voice acting, it's a lot sillier than was likely intended.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • Some of the designs in the mod can look rather frightening, with the biggest stand-outs being Experiment, with his utterly broken face and emaciated body, and Suicide Mouse when he starts melting in "Insanity Psychosis".
    • During the second half of "Misery", the instrumental contains the violent screaming from the original Suicide Mouse. It's even louder in the scrapped remake, nearly overpowering even the vocals.
  • Special Effect Failure:
    • The Toons are meant to be a big pile of almost all of the characters from their game of origin, but the resulting sprite is clearly just a large static image bouncing up and down that doesn't even fit in its spritesheet, resulting in large chunks of the sprite being cut off. This is especially glaring as most of the rest of the mod's art is pretty good by comparison. Suicide Mouse has a similar problem outside of his final form in "Insanity Psychosis", albeit without cutting off.
    • Gascot is meant to be silhouetted within a vent with only his head and hands visible, but since the vent isn't all that dark and his sprite is nothing but his head and hands, his head looks like he's floating.
