YMMV / Nasuverse

Go To

  • Broken Base: In a variation of Old Guard Versus New Blood, ever since the release of Fate/stay night, the fanbase has been increasingly fractured between people who got into the Nasuverse through Tsukihime and earlier works and people who got in through Fate, thanks to the latter's popularity overshadowing the former's. note  It got even worse when Fate/Zero and its massive popularity within the greater anime community got even more people into Fate, and what little unity remained was utterly pulverized thanks to the humongous success of Fate/Grand Order, which became the flagship title of the franchise.
  • Common Knowledge: For some reason a lot of Nasuverse fans have a big misconception about the personality of Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg - he's believed to be a prankster and The Gadfly to everyone he meets, and to make it worse, it's hard to figure out where this perception even came from considering how much he barely appears in the entire Nasuversenote . Actual Word of God has stated his actual personality is essentially rather similar to Jotaro Kujo.
  • Complete Monster: See here.
  • Fandom Rivalry: As expansive as the Nasuverse is, it's almost inevitable that there would be smaller factions between the different entries that would butt heads—not just regarding their respective franchise' quality, but as well as debating the creators' supposed favoritism to a specific entry or lack thereof. It isn't even just between the different franchises (like, say, Tsukihime vs Fate), but it will even be between the fans of the same franchise—Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero fans fighting was one of the most widespread cases of this among the fandom, but recently there have been fights between fans of Fate/Grand Order and fans of other Fate series due to fans feeling that the former is being given too much priority and the latter series are being left in the dust as a result.
  • Fridge Brilliance: The Mage Association is known for being made up of and encouraging the production of selfish Mad Scientists that will do anything For Science! if it means getting a step closer to reaching the Root and/or discovering the lost True Magics. So, is it any coincidence that the only modern-day beings who have managed to accomplish such tasks are Zelretch (who used Second Magic to save the Earth from Crimson Moon Brunestud at the cost of his strength being weakened, as well as essentially protecting the multiverse), Aoko (who gained Fifth Magic while trying to revive Soujuurou after Touko killed him to get to her and she also plans on finding a way to prevent the universe's heat death that she accelerated in the process), Mikiya (who accidentally reached the Root, but declined to know its secrets in favor of returning to his love, Shiki Ryougi), Shiki Ryougi (a warrior who fights demon and whose third personality is the Void itself), Justeaze (who used Third Magic for her friends at the cost of her own life), Illya (who used Third Magic from Justeaze to save Shirou's soul, also at the cost of her own life), and possibly Shirou (who may have gained a True Magic in order to reach the Reverse Side in his journey to reunite with Saber). The key to unlocking the secrets of magic and the universe is through selflessness.
