YMMV / Kamen Rider Super Sentai: Chou Super Hero Taisen

  • Author's Saving Throw:
  • Critical Research Failure: One of the early trailers revealing that BoukenPink would be appearing misidentified her as Pink Racer. While later trailers corrected this, one does have to wonder how Toei could screw up identifying something they were involved in the creation of. Becomes Hilarious in Hindsight when the actual Pink Racer does show up as a member of Team Highspeednote .
  • Memetic Mutation:

    • The Original Generation Kamen Sentai Gorider. Easily the most unexpected thing that Toei has ever done (and that includes using PAC-MAN as a villain for the first Ex-Aid crossover), magazine scans alone have made it a Fountain of Memes. Some people jokingly refer to it as "Saban's wet dream", whereas other people have resorted to treating the team as if they had their own season.
  • Older Than They Think: Kamen Sentai Gorider seemed to be modeled after Shocker Riders of the original Kamen Rider, but with colored suits instead of only colored scarves. Some fans felt the new nickname "Shocker Sentai Gorider" should be more fitting.
    • It goes further than that. Apparently, during the mid-70s, Ishinomori had been playing with the concept of a team made up of five Kamen Riders. The concept later evolved into Himitsu Sentai Goranger. Yonemura seems to love ideas from Ishinomori's cutting room floor.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Out of all the teams shown in the bracket, very few actually fight in the movie.
    • A particular example from riders who weren't on one of the teams are the Amazons riders - since it's been confirmed that Amazons takes place in an Alternate Continuity, this was the first time that the riders from that work had been featured in a main Kamen Rider crossover. While we can forgive the fact that they don't use the fight style from their home series, this would've been a perfect chance to show them reacting to the original Amazon...yet they don't even meet the original, much less fight him.
  • Unexpected Character:
      Advertisement:
    • Downplayed with Kamen Riders Amazon Alpha and Omega. Given it's Darker and Edgier and Bloodier and Gorier Alternate Continuity adult focus, no one (at least not everyone) ever expected to see them mix with their more Lighter and Softer cousinsnote .
      • Not just Alpha and Omega, but the main Rider of Season 2, Amazon Neo, gets in on the action.
      • Given this film being Darker and Edgier than previous films, it isn't surprising.
    • Following a human taking on Pac Man's appearance in Heisei Generations, we have the Andor Genesis from Xevious making an appearance. Once the movie was released, it was revealed that other Xevious enemies and also Galaxian enemies were in the movie.
    • Kamen Rider DiEnd - after having been absent from the previous 3 Super Hero Taisen movies, he's finally returned.
    • Dark Kabuto and Dark Drive are shown to be part of a team with Dark Ghost.
    • Shuichi Kitaoka/Kamen Rider Zolda, the third of the four main Riders from Ryuki, makes his first appearance in a Super Hero Taisen movie since the original and his first out-of-suit appearance in a Taisen movie period, being on Emu's team along with two post-Gokaiger Sentai heroes and Momotaros.
    • A Kamen Rider themed version of the Gorangers called Kamen Sentai Gorider as an original generation group. A straight mix between Sentai and Riders has not been done outside of some borrowing each other's powers during previous Taisen movies and those were mostly mecha (Rocket Drill Go-Buster Oh in Super Hero Taisen and ToQoh Kyoryuzin feat. Den-Liner in Kamen Rider Wars for example). The Goriders also borrow traits of Shocker Riders from the very first Kamen Rider, but with colored suits instead of only colored scarfs.
    • The spinoff centered on the Goriders features reprisals for five Riders who "do not belong in this world" - basically, either dead or missing. This includes Kiriya Kujo from the current season, Kaito Kumon and Yoko Minato from a season that aired a few years previously, and Kazuma Kenzaki, who, while much earlier, is a primary rider and shouldn't be dead. These four aren't that surprising of returns. Then there's Kaoru Kino, a supporting rider who hasn't been seen in the series at all since his death.
    • Villain example: When it was revealed that Kyoryu Red and Kyoryu Gold were appearing, many likely thought that the Deboth would be a part of the villains. However, instead, the Neo Deboth Army are present.
    • Brave Blue Dino also makes a cameo during the tournament bracket montage.
