YMMV / Dartigan

Go To

  • Fanon Discontinuity: Says in the description for part one his Final Fantasy XIII sins video: "At least I don't have to worry about Final Fantasy fans getting on my back about this one. They tend to hate this game anyway."
  • Friendly Rivalry: With Game Care Network (Or GCN) and their gaming sins videos. Notable that when Dartigan began doing specialized intros for his game sins, they started following suit.
  • Funny Moments:
    • Commenting on the Eli boss fight in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Dartigan notes that the game allows him to beat children...and removes a sin for it.
    • The absurdity of Lucas suddenly gaining super powers in Fahrenheit leaves Dartigan so dumbstruck that all he can do is keep sinning the game until the sequence is over. While playing Guile's Theme to it as well.
    • Already impressed by the three-dimensional and complex dialogue of Mad Jack in Heavy Rain, Charles mentions he feels "uncomfortably white" when he prompts Jayden to beat Jack.
      • Later, while fighting the Origami Killer, Jayden backs on the chair where Paco's corpse is lying, leading Dartigan to snark that Paco finally got a lapdance.
      • Earlier, during the Doc scene, Dartigan makes repeated comments about worrying about David Cage.
  • I Knew It!: Or, as Dartigan says when he's right, "Fucking called it."*ding!*
  • Moment of Awesome:
    • In his sins video for The Last of Us, Dartigan clearly sees Ellie killing David as this, taking off a sin for each time Ellie strikes David's face with his own machete without comment.
    • He also gives one to, of all people, David Cage for managing to make Detroit: Become Human a game where your choices actually do make a significant difference in the outcome of the story (something Dartigan has criticized previous games of this type for failing to do). He knocks a sin off for this.
  • Playing Against Type: Plays with this in Battlefield Hardline. Dartigan notes that several characters in the game had previously played police officers in other media. This results in him being mildly surprised that Tyson's actor, Adam Harrington (who played a cop in L.A. Noire), isn't one here. He also notes that due to the number of generic cops that Travis Willingham (Stoddard's actor) has played in video games, he has "truly become the most typecast digital actor." Because of this, the reveal that Stoddard's actually corrupt causes Dartigan to snark that he's "surprised that Travis Willingham gets to play a different kind of cop for once."
  • The Un-Twist: Sees the reveal of DmC: Devil May Cry's final antagonist as this; due to all established fans of Devil May Cry being aware of Vergil's role and motivations, Dartigan doesn't see any point in the game waiting until the end of the story to make Vergil a villain.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Downplayed, but somewhat present in his assessment of the new Dante presented by DmC: Devil May Cry.
