- Sequelitis: Many refer to it as one of the worst films in the series and are divided over whether which ones from the mid/late-'70s was the worst.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!, or Later-Installment Weirdness: The casting choices divided the fans' opinions. Many claimed that the series regulars were being unnecessarily shoved to the side for new younger models that were hard to get used to. With fan favorite Sid James dead at this point, it didn't help either.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Poor Joan Sims admitted later that there was no reason for her to be in the film.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: A Carry On film set in World War II could have been brilliant, but aside from the climax, it doesn't utilise the setting at all.
- Took the Bad Film Seriously: Kenneth Connor relishes his role and tries to maintain his dignity.
