Kiya and the Kimoja Heroes is a cartoon about three superheroes (Kiya, Jay and Motsie) who live in an African city called Kimoja.

Tropes:

  • Birthday Episode: In "The Primadonna Puzzle", Primadonna celebrates her birthday.
  • Character Name and the Noun Phrase: Not only the series itself but some episode titles as well. "Kiya and the Kite Monster" and "Kiya and the Boombastic".
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: In "Cosmic Catastrophe", the heroes tell Haddy Collider she could have just asked people to perform a dance for Galactoslug's birthday instead of inventing a way to force them.
  • Forgotten Birthday: Subverted when Primadonna thought everyone forgot her birthday. She forgot to tell her driver to send the invitations.
  • Gratuitous Ninja: Kiya is a "Dance Ninja".
  • Is the Answer to This Question "Yes"?:
    • In "Stealing the Spotlight", when Bra Jabu needs help with something and asks if Kiya can help, she responds with "Do ballerinas twirl?".
    • In "We Heart Art", Kiya asks a question to Jay and Motsie. Jay replies with "Do eagles fly?" and Motsie with "Do cheetahs run?".
  • "Metaphor" Is My Middle Name:
    • Kiya says "Perfect" is her middle name.
    • When Motsie asks if Kiya has a backup plan, Kiya says "Backup" is her middle name but later admits she doesn't actually have a middle name.
  • Never My Fault: When Primadonna finds out she forgot to tell her driver to send invitations for her birthday party and that's why nobody showed up, she basically says it was her driver's fault for not reading her mind.
  • Rogues Gallery: Acrobrat, Haddy Collider, and Primadonna are recurring antagonists.
  • Rule of Three:
    • The main characters are three superheroes.
    • There are three major antagonists: Acrobrat, Haddy Collider, and Primadonna.
  • Secret Identity:
    • Averted with the heroes. People know their identities.
    • Played straight with the supervillain Acrobrat, whose real identity as Zane isn't known to the public.
  • Skewed Priorities: Aunty Busi cares so much about the hair it's all she can think of whenever her life is in danger.
  • Two Girls and a Guy: The protagonists are two girls (Kiya and Motsie) and a boy (Jay).
