"I'm rolling, I'm rolling, I'm rolling, I'm rolling-a"

"Betty Boop's Ker-Choo" is a Betty Boop cartoon by Max and Dave Fleischer that was first released in theaters on December 29, 1932. It is in the Public Domain.

Betty competes in an automobile race all while she has a cold with a rather destructive sneeze. (Bimbo and Koko can also be seen racing). Betty sings the song "I Got a Code in My Doze".

About 65 years after this cartoon debuted, Cartoon Network Groovies would make a music video mostly consisting of clips from this short, set to the Soul Coughing song "Rolling".

Tropes Used in This Short:

  • Anti-Sneeze Finger: Betty and a few other characters do this.
  • Appetite Equals Health: A lyric in the song is "I can't sleep, I can't eat."
  • Blowing Smoke Rings: Inside Koko's car, a cartoon cat is making smoke rings with a cigar and blows them out the tailpipe; Betty's car travels through the smoke rings, moving it's wheels as if they were legs.
  • Catch Your Death of Cold: In the song Betty mentions she got sick because she "didn't button up [her] overcoat".
  • Fanservice: Betty's bra can be briefly seen when she turns her collar up.
  • Failed a Spot Check: The spectators all go to the race using the same ticket that a mouse in the ticket stand is secretly sliding to the next customer and the security guard on duty looks the other way every time just in time to miss it.
  • Foot Bath Treatment: In the song Betty mentions getting a pail and soaking her feet.
  • Sentient Vehicle: For the sake of humor, the cars briefly come to life with their headlights acting as eyes and their tires for limbs.
  • Shaking the Rump: Betty does this during her song.
  • Sick Episode: Being sick doesn't stop Betty from racing.
  • Sneeze Interruption: Betty's sneezing interrupts the end of her catch phrase ("Boop-Boop-Be-Doop") twice.
  • Sneeze of Doom: Betty's sneeze stretches her own car and also causes a car pileup. Also, the last shot has the spectators in the stands all sneeze in unison, which causes the stands to collapse.
  • Tube Travel: All the spectators are sucked up by a vent that places them into their respective seats.
  • Victoria's Secret Compartment: Betty retrieves a handkerchief from the neckline of her shirt.
  • Wacky Racing: Some very wacky racing going on.
