"What happens when three evildoers attempt to create a monster?
That's what."

The Wrath Of Giga Bowser is a machinima video filmed in Super Smash Bros. Melee with the help of various Action Replay codes, and posted to the SmashBoards forums by SuperDoodleMan on July 15th, 2006, soon after premiering during the MELEE-FC6 tournament.

The video opens with Bowser getting kidnapped by Ganondorf, Mewtwo and Dr. Mario, who proceed to submit him to a powerful combined attack; the assault results in Bowser undergoing a horrifying transformation, and thus Giga Bowser is born. Almost immediately, the creature turns against its creators; as it keeps growing larger and more powerful, it starts rampaging through various locations, brutally murdering every single character that crosses its path.

As every attempt made to fight back against the creature fails miserably, a dying Dr. Mario entrusts Captain Falcon with a capsule that supposedly contains their only hope against it. Meanwhile, all still-surviving characters decide to meet up at the Stadium, where they desperately try everything in their power to hold off the unstoppable monster...

The entire video is set to the tune of "Liberi Fatali" from the opening cinematic of Final Fantasy VIII, and is edited in sync to the song all the way throughout.

The original thread can be found here; SuperDoodleMan himself never uploaded the video to YouTube, but multiple reuploads of it exist.

Tropes found in The Wrath Of Giga Bowser include:

  • 11th-Hour Superpower: The video ends with Roy and Mr. Game & Watch growing giant-sized thanks to the dozens of Super Mushrooms contained within the capsule they received from Captain Falcon, allowing them to finally slay Giga Bowser for good.

  • Adaptational Villainy: Dr. Mario has never been portrayed as a villain in any of his own games, or in any other piece of official media for that matter; here however, he is working alongside Ganondorf and Mewtwo, with the original Smashboards thread describing all three of them as "evildoers".

  • Ascended Meme: The phrase "TEH PH1R3!!" that appears at the end of the video is a reference to a meme poking fun at players on online forums who insisted that Roy was a better character than Marth for the sole reason that his moves had fire, hence the sarcastic use of the phrase "t3h ph1r3" by more experimented players.

  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Upon being created, Giga Bowser is actually quite small, standing roughly the same height as Dr. Mario. As its rampage goes on however, it can be seen growing visibly larger and larger; by the time it reaches the Stadium, a single one of its claws is larger than any other character is.

  • Big Bad Triumvirate: The three characters responsible for creating Giga Bowser are Ganondorf, Mewtwo, and Dr. Mario, which the original thread on Smashboards refers to as "three evildoers attempting to create a monster".

  • Characters Dropping Like Flies: From the moment Giga Bowser appears, every character that crosses its path gets brutally murdered, until it is itself killed off; over the course of only two minutes, a total of 24 characters meet their end, aka every single character aside from Roy.

  • Chase Scene: The climax of the video consists of Mr. Game & Watch and Roy desperately running from Giga Bowser so they can reach the Stadium's Home-Run platform before it can catch up to them.

  • Chekhov's Gun: After being warned by Marth about survivors meeting up at the Stadium, Ness can be seen filling Mr Game & Watch's bucket with two fully-charged PK Flashes and a PK Fire. This later proves crucial in defeating Giga Bowser, as unloading the bucket at Roy allows him to launch a counterattack powerful enough to send it flying.

  • Gone Horribly Right: The description of the video on the original forum thread where it was posted describes the goal of Ganondorf, Mewtwo and Dr. Mario as being to "attempt to create a monster". Needless to say, they succeed... and said monster proceeds to immediately turn on them, before going on a rampage throughout which it kills every single character that crosses its path.

  • Grandfather Paradox: Young Link is seen coming face to face with Giga Bowser during the latter's rampage. In the very next scene, the adult version of Link suddenly vanishes.

  • Heroic Sacrifice:
    • Two occur in the same scene. After Marth informs Ness and Mr. Game & Watch that all survivors are going to meet at the Stadium, Giga Bowser shows up, and Marth rushes at it so the other two have time to escape. Right afterwards, Ness stops to fill Mr. Game & Watch's bucket with a PK Flash, which later plays a crucial part in defeating Giga Bowser, but leaves him unable to flee in time.
    • In the very last scene of the climax, Mr. Game & Watch unleashes the content of his bucket at Roy, so the latter can perform a counter-attack powerful enough to defeat Giga Bowser. It works, but Mr. Game & Watch also gets hit as Roy deals the blow.

  • I Will Only Slow You Down: At the Stadium, Captain Falcon is running away while carrying the capsule given to him by Dr. Mario, but eventually passes it to Mr. Game & Watch before kneeling to the ground, unable to go any further. As Mr. Game & Watch starts running as well, Giga Bowser is seen catching up to Captain Falcon and crushing him to death.

  • Kaiju: Giga Bowser is treated as one, becoming a gigantic, unstoppable monster bent on destroying everyone who crosses its path.

  • Leet Lingo: The video ends with the phrase "Roy has TEH PH1R3!!" shown on screen.

  • Murderer P.O.V.: Giga Bowser slamming into Peach is seen from the former's point of view, with the camera zooming into the princess as she flails helplessly before cutting to black right as the impact happens.

  • No-Sell: Despite multiple characters attempting to fight back against Giga Bowser, all of their attacks prove completely ineffective, not even managing to make it flinch. During the climax of the video, multiple characters are unloading a barrage of missiles and laser beams at Giga Bowser, but it just keeps advancing without even reacting to being shot.

  • Pyrrhic Victory: Giga Bowser is eventually defeated by Roy... but every other character is dead.
SuperDoodleMan: "There won't be a sequel. Everyone but Roy is dead, how could there possibly be sequel?"

  • Sizeshifting:
    • Upon its creation, Giga Bowser is smaller than even Bowser was. As it turns against its creators however, it can be see visibly growing larger. It then keeps becoming bigger and bigger throughout its rampage, to the point where, by the time it reaches the Stadium, a single one of its claws is larger than its former self.
    • During the climax of the video, the capsule given by Dr. Mario turns out to contain dozens of Super Mushrooms, which allow Roy and Mr. Game & Watch to grow to match Giga Bowser in size and defeat it for good.

  • Turned Against Their Masters: After Bowser gets turned into Giga Bowser, it immediately turns against its three creators, brutally killing them one after the other.

  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: As soon as Donkey Kong has brought Bowser to the villainous trio, Ganondorf brutally sends him flying away. It is unclear whether DK survives, but considering he is not seen anymore for the remainder of the video...

Roy has TEH PH1R3!!
