Xenoblade Chronicles 1
  • If Shulk's a playable character, Metal Face would make a great boss, alternating between physical and long-range attacking modes.
    • Shulk has been confirmed as a playable character, and Metal Face does make an appearance in the reveal trailer.
    • Confirmed. Metal Face appears as a boss in the Wii U version.

Punch-Out!!

  • Mr. Sandman served as the final boss of the Wii game, and was intimidating to boot! For those concerned that he'd be a little underwhelming compared to the other bosses, the man can take down an entire building with his bare hands! That's more than Petey Piranha can say!

Mega Man (Classic)

  • Seeing how the Yellow Devil might become a boss, there's a chance that Wily could make a reference or something too.

Pokémon

  • Giratina.
  • Darkrai.
  • Kyurem.
    • All three have been confirmed as Pokeball characters (Giratina appears in the beginning of Greninja's trailer among the group of pokemon who were all confirmed Pokeball Item characters)
  • Mewtwo: Now hear me out, there's the possibility that Mewtwo won't be a playable character for this game, but it also wouldn't be right if he was demoted to a Pokeball character. It being a boss character could be a nice compromise, especially if it can Mega evolve into Mega Mewtwo X or Y.
    • Jossed, he's just a trophy.
      • Double Jossed, he is a dlc fighter coming spring 2015.
  • Joke option: Wigglytuff Guild.
  • Yveltal.

Fire Emblem

Star Fox

  • Andross.

Mother

  • Giygas.

Kirby

  • Galacta Knight.
    • Most likely would be an Optional Boss, much like how he is in his home games.
  • Kracko.
    • Much like in the Smash Bros -inspired Fighters mode in Triple Deluxe where Kracko was a stage boss for the Bubbly Clouds arena.
  • Queen Sectonia.

Metroid

  • Mother Brain.
    • Generally considered to be the Big Bad of the series, Mother Brain could provide more potential as a satisfactory boss in SSB4's Adventure Mode(?) than Ridley, who was more or less a re-skinned Dyna Blade. The initial fight against her could involve trying to break the glass she's encased in while trying to avoid her defense turrets, eventually leading her to go One-Winged Angel in a last minute attempt to kill you. What's better is that she appeared (in a flashback) in Other M, meaning that she has a chance of appearing in this game.
      • As of February 7, 2014, Mother Brain is confirmed as an Assist Trophy.
  • Metroid Queen.
    • Alternatively, if Mother Brain doesn't appear as a boss in SSB4 then the Metroid Queen could easily fill in the position. She's appeared as the final boss twice in the series (Metroid II and Other M), and is the most powerful form of the Metroid species. Like Mother Brain, she is a potentially unique boss in how she could serve as a Mook Maker for Metroids. Newly-born Metroids could appear and assist her in defeating the players.
  • Ridley. By this point, Sakurai has heavily hinted Ridley being a stage boss in the Pyrosphere.
    • "Heavily hinted" nothing, that was an indirect confirmation. He is a stage boss in 4.
  • Kraid. During an announcement for the Smash Run mode, Kraid was supposedly leaked when giving information on Smash Run event bosses.

Donkey Kong

  • Tiki Tong.
    • He may be yet another "generic hands boss", but he's nonetheless the final boss of Donkey Kong Country Returns. If not him, then maybe King K. Rool (although for our sakes let's hope that it doesn't happen).
  • King K. Rool.
    • He could possibly be the stage boss for the DK franchise, which could very much be true if Gangplank Galleon is a confirmed stage for Wii U. He could summon cannonballs as they fall down from the sky, and jump around constantly like he did in the original game.

Kid Icarus

  • Twinbellows.
  • Hades.
