As this mod is themed around all games connected to Sonic.Exe: Spirits of Hell, all spoilers for the duology and the DLC will be unmarked here, so make sure you've played either the mod or played/watched all the games thus far. If not, please proceed with caution.

Ready for another round?

FNF: Spirits of Hell (originally dubbed FNF: The Spirits of the Hell) is a mod by SMV5 that covers Sonic.Exe: Spirits of Hell, as the name would suggest.

The mod is split into two parts, each depicting the six heroes surviving Exeller and his cronies with help from Boyfriend, who's there to help guide them on the right path throughout.

V1 (having the Round 1 content) released on November 6th 2022 and can be downloaded here.

V2 (encapsulating the Round 2 content, alongside ports of most of V1's songs) officially released on July 5th 2023 and can be downloaded here.

This mod contains the following examples:

• Adapted Out:
  • For an FNF mod, Girlfriend is nowhere to be seen. This might be justified, however, due to her never getting an official Mobian design for when Vs Sonic.exe was in development. A design for her had been made by the team, but won't be added into the mod in any future updates.
  • In a story sense, neither Alice nor any plot lines related to Exeller's past are shown in this mod's events.
• Art Shift: While most of the mod is in the traditional FNF art style, there are several parts that enforce a shift into 32-bit sprite work, these being one section of "Hidden Palace", the entirety of both "Amnesia" and "Ice Cap", and several bits of menu content, including the Story Mode icons and the Free Play images.
• Beyond the Impossible: In "Unwarp", getting demonised by Exeller didn't strip away Boyfriend's free will at all. If anything, it just pissed him off!
• Defiant to the End: In Round 2's finale, even when turned into one of Exeller's slaves in the Bad Ending, Boyfriend STILL won't hold back and let the villain win, holding him down for as long as possible.
• Flipping the Bird: Exeller does this to Exetior at the very end of "Blood Temple".
• Morton's Fork: Like in Round 2, Cream is soon given the Sadistic Choice of either staying with Tails Doll to protect him, or going to Volcano Valley with Boyfriend.
• Multiple Endings: Well, kind of, but several alternate endings in Round 1 (alongside four in Round 2) can be unlocked through varying criteria.
• No Fair Cheating: Attempting to access gameplay modifiers in either round will simply show the text "NO CHEATING" and lock you out of using them.
• Promoted to Playable:
  • Exeller for both "Majin Forest" and "Blood Temple".
  • After spending the entire mod reduced to being almost completely absent, Sonic becomes the playable character for the very last song of the Story Mode, "Unless Spirit".
• Shout-Out:
  • "Dark Spirit" is one to the Sonic storybook duology, Sonic.iso himself sporting the Excalibur armor, Shahra's ring, and the corpses of Alibaba, Sinbad and another character being present in the palace his song takes place in.
  • The vocals of "Ice Cap", while indeed keeping with the original theme, also reference the song that it was based off, "Hard Times" by The Jetzons.
• Spared by the Adaptation: Well, temporarily. In Cream's week, Cheese is seen with her, meaning she found him before Exeller's cronies could slaughter him. Unfortunately, it doesn't last...
