Trivia / The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

Go To

  • Billing Displacement: The actors who play Mrs. Everdeen (not that she's supposed to be important, but she has exactly two lines here), Effie (appearing mainly in the denouement), and Beetee (same as Effie) don't have anything to do. All of them are credited above the members of the Star Squad (Boggs, Jackson, Cressida, Pollux, etc.) who are a part of Katniss' team and thus take up a sizable chunk of screen time.
  • Died During Production: The death of Philip Seymour Hoffman on February 2, 2014 caused rewrites on what would have been his two final scenes in Part 2.
  • Dyeing for Your Art: Natalie Dormer shaved half her hair to play Cressida (and apparently Jennifer Lawrence didn't believe she would do so).
  • The Other Marty: Lily Rabe was cast as Commander Lyme, but had to back out of the second film due to theatre commitments. Her scenes for the first film were cut, and Gwendoline Christie replaced her for the second.
  • Posthumous Credit: As with Part 1, Philip Seymour Hoffman reprises his role as Plutarch one last time.
  • Real-Life Relative: Jennifer Lawrence's nephews play her and Peeta's children at the end.
  • So My Kids Can Watch: Julianne Moore's two children were fans of the book, and convinced her to sign on to play Alma Coin.
  • Swan Song: Part 2 was Philip Seymour Hoffman's final performance as Plutarch Heavensbee.
  • Throw It In!: Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks ad-libbed Haymitch and Effie's kiss, shocking everyone on set.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Katniss' last goodbye to Gale was initially way harsher, with her coldly telling him to Get Out!. The director felt it was the wrong note to end their relationship on, so they softened it just a tad, but with the same message intact.
    • Plutarch Heavensbee was supposed to talk to Katniss after the latter kills Coin. Philip Seymour Hoffman died before this scene could be filmed, so instead, Haymitch reads a letter from Plutarch in his place.
