Trivia / Pataclaun

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Most of the secondary characters are played by either of the five core actors.
    • Carlos Alcantara (Machín) also plays Don Carlos (Machíns father) and Nandito (his nephew)
    • Wendy Ramos also plays Mamá Antonieta (Tony's mother) and Janet Wendy (her secret twin sister)
    • Carlos Carlín (Tony) also plays his cousin Ertes Malasu.
    • Johanna San Miguel (Queca) also plays Cheilla, Queca's great great great grand niece.
    • Pipo the Dog is played by Pipo Gallo, an original member of the Pataclaun acting troupe. Pipo was actually working on the show behind the scenes and does some voices off-camera (like God or the narrator), and some extras like the doctor and the priest who is about to marry Queca and Gonzalete.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: After Pataclaun ended, the following show "Carita de Atún", which was a parody of soap operas, had the same cast, including Katia Condos, and all of them play opposites of their characters in Pataclaun.
    • Wendy Ramos plays "María Malita" ("Mary Meanie"), who, unlike Wendy Janet, is the Card-Carrying Villain, is completely evil, a Gold Digger, and completely useless.
    • Wendy's other character "Perlita" is a more nerdy version of Wendy Janet.
    • Katia Condos plays "María Buenita" ("Mary Goody"), and unlike Maruja, is a literal Fish out of Water, huge, romantic, and naïve.
    • Carlos Alcántara plays "Ángel". While Machín is mean, sexist, violent, and has a Hair-Trigger Temper, Ángel is sensitive, a complete romantic and nice. Both still are a Momma's Boy.
    • Montserrat Brugué plays "Angelita Bonifaz", Ángel's mother. Monchi is a baby, and Ms. Bonifaz is an old lady. Both are still very greedy.
    • Carlos Carlín plays "Pan de Dios", which is an exaggeration of Tony, but more Idle Rich.
    • Gonzalo Torres plays "Mario Baguetino", who is more of an Extreme Doormat than Gonzalete and equally as dumb as Pan de Dios and María Malita.
    • Johanna San Miguel plays both "Martirio", María Malita's Servile Snarker who hates everyone, and "Water Fairy", who is a Fairy Godmother who almost never helps María Buenita and talks like a Valley Girl. Both characters completely contrast Queca's Rich Bitch.
  • The Danza: Wendy Ramos's character, Wendy Janet.
    • Arguably also Gonzalo Torres as Gonzalete.
    • Machín's name is actually a modification of Carlos Alcántara's nickname among his friends "Cachín". He also plays Don Carlos, who has his real name as well.
    • "Monchi" is a short version of her actress' name Montserrat Brugué.
    • Pipo Gallo plays "Pipo the Dog".
  • Fake Nationality: Gonzalete hails from Spain and has a strong Spanish accent; while his actor, Gonzalo Torres, was born and raised in Peru like the rest of the cast. Many jokes are often made with Gonzalete switching from his high-pitched exaggerated tone into Gonzalo's natural voice.
  • Irony As He Is Cast: Tony is infamous for being terrible at singing. Carlos Carlín, meanwhile, has sung decently in several other shows and even starred in a movie musical.
  • Meme Acknowledgment: Gonzalo Torres has acknowledged the "¡AEA!" meme surrounding Gonzalete, and even clarified that it's supposed to be a stylized "¡Ah ya!" (Oh yeah!) sound.
  • Missing Episode: Some episodes like "Happy 28 de Julio" weren't broadcast while the series was airing and only surfaced online many years later.
    • Also people think that Monchi's return was the Season Finale because it ends with a blooper compilation. It turns out that there's an actual Series Finale, where upon Monchi's return, she breaks it to the others that everything in the house is fake, and Wendy has a hard time accepting it.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Monchi is Put on a Bus because her actress Montserrat Brugué was moving to Italy for a year. During her absence, the show included a lot of jokes about Monchi's character being in Italy. She returns in time for the last two episodes of the show.
  • Star-Making Role: The show ignited the carreers of most the cast members, especially for Carlos Alcántara, who went on to star in the action series "La Gran Sangre", host the variety show "Lima Limón" (until he quit on air), and productor, director and actor of his own stand-up and movies "Asu Mare", based on his own life.
    • Johanna San Miguel and Carlos Carlín went on to producing their own stand ups, have different roles in Peruvian films and gigs as radio DJs and show hosts.
    • Gonzalo Torres got his own show "A la Vuelta de la Esquina" ("Around the corner") which focused on showcasing important sites on Lima City. He also became radio DJ of the morning show "Mañana Maldita", and nowdays stars in different ads.
  • Throw It In!: The various humorous insults/nicknames the characters threw each other were ad-libbed by each actor, so the reaction they got from their victim was real.
  • What Could Have Been: The original Pataclaun acting troupe was composed of the main cast, minus Carlos Carlín (Tony), and his place was actually held by Katia Condos. It's even used as a Take That! to Tony, where Queca tells him that he is just her replacement, and later she is brought as a Starring Guest to show what it could be like if she regained her spot. Katia eventually joins the cast's following project "Carita de Atún", another clown sitcom but with a soap opera parody format.
    • At one point it was initially considered for the series to be animated, the animation studio provided either by Fox or by a random animation house in Spain. It ended up being too costly to be a reality, but the crew at least managed to get a taste of what it could've been by having the first season intro be partially animated.
  • Written by Cast Member: Wendy Ramos is the head writer, to the point some of the Self-Deprecation humor include jokes at expense of Wendy repeating tropes.
